If your the guy with the 14k illustrations on ss - your work and port  is pretty * awesome
That is your gift man, and you should not be doing it for anyone else, as an employee, or doing what ever it is you do at your fulltime job that you hate...

if you are already making 8k/mth from part time effort, you my friend are probably both technically and creativly a very gifted photographer
at almost 100k/year salary I would definitley ditch my fulll time job that I had a loathing for. What could possibly be the incentive to stay? I f things went south, I'm sure you could easily pick up another job .
If however you were making quite a nice salary/benefits, then I could see the hesitation to quit

i think we should keep this thread alive and active and all the more so as December rolls around....
I think there was a big enough backlash last year that made them postpone their plans, so why cant we unite to voice our discontent for the new pricing proposal, and take decisive action if necessary to hopefully help them stop going through with this preposterous scheme?

are you paying for uploads?
how many sales are you getting a month at this point, and what is the projected sales a year from now?

just looking for incentives that may interest contributots to upload to yet another new site that looks like all the other sites in the bottom of the low earners list to the right...

its hard to pass judgement w/o seeing the images

you can always post a few to the forum over there for critique, and the guys will tell you what they think

SS can be a bugger on somedays though - sometimes I think if the reviewer sees a few OOF , he will just tag the whole lot w/o actually reviewing each image

sometimes its unfair, I agree, but try downsizing a little as suggested, and send in small batches at a time

If they actually decide to go through with the proposed pay changes, then I am ditching them - no question about it.
the rates i am getting now is just lousy - on the very edge of begrudging acceptance.

how ridiculous some of these ms sites have become!
its a wonder that people still do business with many of them, given their shady business antics and not to mention insulting commission rates!

Where can I Like this thread on Facebook?....

just about every ms site has a screening process that your submissions have to pass before they are accepted and put up for sale - if there werent , can you imagine the amount of junk that the sites woould be drowning in?
The only site I know that doesnt have any screenig is mostphotos - but surprise, surprise they are full of substandard images and thus have next to no sales...

I think you've reached payout...

I would take them all if possible - you can lighten the pack for each days particular shoot, but its always nicer when you can have a choice, if at all possible.

Well, I have always been under the impression that shooting in Adobe color space in camera is the 'best' - it collects the most information and therefore its better than sRGB

However, talking to a pro who shoots always sRGB in camera, because he says it saves a ton of time in post processing because with Adobe you always have to adjust the dark/light sliders therefore taking way more time in post...

Just wondering what you all have set in-camera setting - Adobe or sRGB and why you choose that?
I just wonder if the time saved is worth the trade off of having less information in this regard.

Thanks for your inputs

I have earned my living exclusively through photography for over 5 years and yet I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I pick up the jolly old camera and shoot JPEG's because that's what I sell. I suppose the 'color space that I shoot in' is the 1.5m/square corner of the room in which I have my product-table set up and produce about 98% of my stock images. I wasn't aware that it needed to be more complicated than that. Would I make more money if I understood 'color space' better? What 'colour space' did Ansel Adams use? Whatever it was, my advice would be to go with that.

Ansel Adams wasn't stuck in the corner of his closet when he was shooting his great images, so I think I'll go with that...

46mp from what I read in other places. Still 9k is crazy!

30,000 DLs @ $0.30 and its paid for itself!

791
perfect for the stock photographer!

792
thank you all ...
i've never heard of the prophoto space, but I will do some research on that
appreciate all your feedbacks

Wow, very little modesty around these days.....  ;)

HA!  I said the experts, not necessarily referring to me :P

Was not referring to you Mantis, but to the person reacting to you post and without hesitation referred to himself ("We are looking for something to do over there").  ;) :D

BINGO!!

yes - the critique forum at ss is very helpful
you will get good pointers from the "real" pros there - you will know who they are

sorry to hear about that bit of bad news, but I'm glad they caught it early and it sounds very hopeful
Heres to a speedy recovery, and wishing you the best

Make sure when you are uploading you check the box that says "Sell a lot of ELs of this Image."

Many people miss this box, probably because it's in white text on a white background.

I never saw that box either!!
I think I have to calibrate my monitor again...
