Well - I have a total of 17 veiws and more importantly 1 DL - earned myself 0.90.  I have no idea what photo though (I assume that feature is coming??).

Not sure if it is a "true" buyer or someone using one of the tokens they get when they start.

Just jokes - it wouldnt have been a true referral, especially since the guy has been kind enough to be posting on your site.

While we are suggesting upgrades. i noticed your payout is $100 and is by cheque.

Given that you dont have many buyers yet, it is unlikely any of us will see $100 soon so you may want to lower that to give us an incentive (I would want a payout at least once a year - all sites including start ups I support should hit this rate). Some sites are $30 (BigStock) or $50 (FT and StockXpert) and FT even lets you cash out at any time, though at a cost.

You should also get paypal and moneybookers. Most people use paypal but this isn't accepted in all countries so Moneybookers is essentual. Paypal is fine for me.

Note: I didn't put referal links in this time but I think you get the point from previous posts.

* - I was hoping to refer you leaf - that way I might actually make some good money.

Leaf is the mastermind.  I am not sure who his peeps are.

Striker - the upload is now painless (easier than StockXpert - beleive it or not).

So you are just waiting on an incentive to join.  i agree that unless you have shutterstock
or istockphoto download numbers, you need a higher payout ratio.

Note:  see how easy it is for us to refer other sites that have referal programs (not that iStocks is any good if you only refer photags).  You should at least offer a buyer referral program, they are after all what you need.

Personally I like this forum as it sticks to mircostock issues. I follow a number of forums on a number of different issues that interest me. if they all were filled up with games and non relevant info, they lose their relevance for me.

Let us know how they get on.

However I know that your keywords look to be being picked up as onlyl one word (at least on the mountain reflection on the lake).

If microstock comes up as a topic on a photography forum you can be guaranteed that about 10 people will mention either fotolia or shutterstock, just because they have a good referral system.
I agree. I try and drop shutterstock and fotolia links into most posts I have.  See how easy it is.

I note that iStock is very quick to lock down threads.

I have been uploading too.  Now we wait for sales.

Teh problem with new sites it that you need to get to a certain size before you can do the big marketing push.

So Bryan - how do you propose to make both of us money (ie. how do you plan to get sales)

I had wondered where you had got to on SS and have seen you in a few of the other forums (none other than iStock re as busy as SS)  You are not with iStock are you??

Welcome and as long as you keep this a miz point free zone, you shouildn't get banned her as this is independent.

Was it just the forum you got banned from?  Is it just for three months or is it for ever?  Are you still submitting photos to SS or have you pulled out in protest

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Worth continuing?
« on: July 13, 2006, 01:38 »
I have given up on image vortex (not sure what there market is but it does not seem to be my photos).

Every time I give up on Canstock, I get a sale,  Not worth continuing but I stay there just in case.  I hve stopped uploading though as I wait for the sales to come in.  If I dont get a least a sale a month and expect a payout a year, I dont think it is worht it.

Could be a combo of reviewers off on holiday while submitters stay at home and upload.

Completely different photos if they are online tomorrow I will post a link
that would be good.

I don't think any of the micros (apart from Featurepics) would accept 88/88
Are you saying their standards are lower, or that you only submit higher quality photos.

As I improve, I am thinking of submitting, especially since they will be doing upload rather than CD.

Fintastique - do you submit the same photos as you do to the micro sites or do you choose on a per photo basis whether it is micro or macro?

Obviously Macro requires different processing (upsizing etc) (doesn't it)?

General Stock Discussion / sRGB or Adobe RGB
« on: July 11, 2006, 10:37 »
What colour space do you use.

Do you set it that way in the camera or change it once in photoshop etc.

I have always used sRGB (default setting) but wonder if I should change.

I thing most publishing houses and therefore designers prefer Adobe RGB.

The new "Most Popular" search works by taking the amount of time an image has been on the site and how many times it has been downloaded in this amount of time. This will not favor those who have been submitting since the beginning. Instead it will be a more accurate assessment of what the most popular image really is.
again from setho.

I think this is a good answer.

Wonder how it will affect the new upload effect where new images always seem to get a few hits.

I am surprised too.

it also means that 2mp photo taken with a crap camera that was uploaded 3 yaars ago and has mild success will show up before a photo taken on 5D with L lens in a complete studio setup that was only uploaded last week.

Madness.  Madness I say.

Best Match only exists within the photographers' galleries. The new algorithm is going to be for the "Most Popular."
This was quoted by Setho (admin) at shutterstock.

This will severely change sales.  I am not sure this is a good thing as just becasue something has had more sales, doesn't mean that it is better than the photo that was just uploaded.

5 is a bit short but any image is taking it a bit far.  I think last 15 or 20.

Will definately make it quicker.

Sorry to bring up an old thread.

I was just submitting to Featurepics and noticed they had done away with categories completely (it was always optional).  When was this??

Not only that, you cant copy and paste - each word has to be added separately.  Apparently they are working on both.  There is another thread on them in this forum I think where they actually gave a few posts.

A lot of hype in the talk but everyone gave a pretty clear message back that they need ITPC reading.
