I guess thats the drawback of having an elite or limited members site - you are also limited to the pool of talent and generosity making up the members only club. Either the members ante up what is needed to help the site survive, because the chances of anyone that hasnt been accepted or even been given the opportunity to join, to donate towards their cause is , well, not going to happen.

time to maybe start sending in small file sizes as 90% of comissions are 0.3 subs
This is a great idea - I have already started doing this If you gonna pay for peanuts, then peanut size is what you get...

- there wont be any subscriptions for our video site. It was something we considered but opted not to do. considered but opted not to do - yet. how long before this issue gets revisited and contributors get nailed? only time will tell - JMHO

those commissions are pathetic - how could anyone possibly think those rates are a fair compensation of their time/energies?
I will definitley NOT be uploading my video there - many other sites offer better rates. All this will do is encourage other sites to perhaps drop their rates for contributors - I will not be a part of that!

commiissions are pathetic to say the least, so if they do end up cutting contributor rates I am definitely jumping ship
I'll take my chances in the ocean rather than be on a boat full of greedy pirates...

do you need to pay to sell on that site? thanks.
NO PAY - you get to upload max 25 images and you set your profit margin YES PAY $30/yr - you get unlimited uploads and you also get a small percentage of the framing and extras the customer orders when buying your image for print

This work took me several days to complete and i would call it rather my personal work based on image, than tracing.
How about the work that the original contributers put into THEIR work - only to have it ripped off and resold DT did the absolute right thing - any one of us if we were to find our work in the same situation, we would want the wrong to be made rightand this is the way DT did it I am pretty sure that if this gets spotted on other sites you will be banned from those sites as well, and rightly so...

Have you ever thought of putting a Paypal buy it now button on your site and self-fullfilling? I have an account with a pro-lab and get about a 30% discount (plus level based rebates for everything over $2500/year). They print the usual stuff plus canvas, plaque-mounting, calendars, greeting cards, sports bottles etc. They will even drop ship for me. I have another guy that prints decals (wall clings). Another guy that prints traditional business cards etc. This way you would keep all of the markup, and you are not paying an agent to host and market.
I have no website either For me this sounds like a lot of work to setup - and what happens if someone decides to return a print? I dont think I am ambitious enough to undertake anything like this - but I do admire those who really work hard at this as a viable business

I have just a free basic account, and have uploaded a handful of images there... got a few views here and there and wasn't expecting anything to come of this site - and BAM! I made my first sale of a 24x36 print for which I got $36 cut.
Nice surprise for me since I do zero promotion and have no social media accts like facebook twitter, etc
YAY!

You should read the ignorant comments on her blog. WOW!! Even a lawyer says she is getting screwed and it would never stand up in court.
The guy said:
Hello! I'm sorry this happened to you, it does not sound pleasant. As it is, I happen to be an IP lawyer and I agree with Sylvester below, it does sound much more like a scam than an actual legal case (this is not legal advice either, just one blogger musing to another).
My issue is the line you wrote where "if you immediately take down a pic if someone sends you a DMCA notice (you do have to take it down, but it doesn't absolve you." If you immediately took it down, what are his damages?
If this ever did go to court (and it would have to be someone with buckets of money doing this) the first question I would ask as a judge is "How were you damaged?" Moreover, to get actual money damages, he'd have to have actually registered the work for him to get anything meaningful. (see generally: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S...
In any case, sorry this happened to you. It's more bullying than anything (but you are right, you should avoid putting up other people's work without proper attribution).
The lawyer's name is Logan Lo.
that lawyer is a dumbhead... he should probably stick to making wills

wow! this is cool! after reading this thread I was surfing the internet for images from others who are into the KAP thing.
I was telling my wife about it that Leaf has the same camera and lens I have and he flies it up on a kite to take shots.... she said she would have to hurt me if I tried flying my gear like that...
I think I would have to buy a bigger kite and take the shortest way out of town
Definitly something I would like to look into but with a small camera like a P&S or a go pro One guy did a go pro with a bunch of helium balloons on a fishing line and when he was done he just reeled in the gear...
