In the Jetpack that comes with Wordpress (you have to activate it) there is an option entitled Wordpress.com Stats - I use that to see what people are searching for on my site. Some countries block listing the actual search terms but with others it shows.

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Editing child theme - need help please« on: April 30, 2013, 03:51 »
I think I am just going to have to accept that the footer stretches the whole page. I don't understand enough to change, have tried various things recommended on editing sites but nothing worked

Thanks 9lives
1. Have mostly sorted this I think, getting there anyway 2. Will have a look at the bootstrap.css 3. If you look at my home page the header and featured images are a couple of pixels narrower than the main content area - using the cta theme 4. The template choices are standard and aside - they seem to look the same, 832
Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Home button just disappeared from my menu« on: April 30, 2013, 02:38 »
I know where it went Cathy - I have it! I have never had a home button - it just went to the front page, now it goes to a blank page. No idea what I have done

Symbiostock - Network Building / Re: networking -- What are you looking for in a match?« on: April 29, 2013, 15:35 »
I am wondering if some similar and some totally different would work best, it is going to be interesting to see how it evolves. I currently have around 600 online , it is taking time as I am trying to recheck keywords, do the seo and in a lot of cases re-edit as I am more skilled now with PS than I was a few years ago

One of my "isolated dobermann" pictures is now 4th to show up on google images - now all I need is some sales
![]() I would however like to know who did a search for " Sheep eating a dead rat" on google. I do have something eating a dead rat but it certainly was not a sheep. Has anyone else noticed searches including "copyright free" "no copyright" etc? 836
Symbiostock - General / Re: Ktools or symbiostock?« on: April 29, 2013, 09:19 »
When you do the research remember that Symbiostock is still in Beta and has only been around for about a month, which seems hard to believe when you see how far it has come in that time and Leo is talking about even more features with the next release

Symbiostock - General / Re: How long does it take?« on: April 29, 2013, 07:31 »
Very difficult to reply to that, it will all depend on whether you already have a website, wordpress, images with descriptions etc and how much time you want to spend on SEO and changing titles so your pictures are different from the same ones listed elsewhere.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Ktools or symbiostock?« on: April 29, 2013, 07:26 »
Leo ?
I don't know much about k-tools but understand that is paid for stand alone system where as Symbiostock is free and you will be able to network with other people. - take a look around some of our sites - some are more complete than others as we are customising and uploading but if you do a search you will see the main difference and see how clients are likely to be able to find what they are looking for 839
Symbiostock - Technical Support / Editing child theme - need help please« on: April 29, 2013, 07:08 »
I have been editing the child theme, have got part way to what I want to do, purely by trial and error over the last few days
1. Does anyone know if there is a way to make all the content (text, header, widgits, sidebars, blog) areas the same background colour without having to find and edit them individually 2. How do you change the width of the footer to match the content areas edit to add 3 - How do you make everything on the front page the same width ? 4. How can I either widen the blog area or centre it? 840
Symbiostock - General / Re: WOAH! Great looking site« on: April 29, 2013, 07:04 »
It looks great Amanda and the name suits it perfectly. I was going to leave a comment but did not want to register just to do that as I have recently junked all my disposable addresses and need to set some more up.
You have done in that theme something I have spend the last few days trying to do, I am half way there though. 841

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: How to setup "Newest" and "Featured" images on the home page?« on: April 28, 2013, 08:30 »
Part of the reply is above. I found I could get them to work best with the Homepage CTA template in Pages. If the templates are not showing click the screen options dropdown at the top of the page and click the box to make it show.
Hope this helps ![]() 843

Here I am, imagining Leo as a little orange baby sitting in his play pen playing with all his new toys (features) and teasing us orange babies with it while we queue up waiting for him to let us have a go

The Search button searches across the network, the Categories are only on your own site, I find it useful if I want to find a particular one of my pictures as it is faster than waiting for the search to load, I do agree that often "less is more" though ![]() 845
Symbiostock - Development Area / Re: Big update: Search, Network, Fixes. Almost there.« on: April 27, 2013, 08:20 »
Leo - anything that gives faster searches will be welcomed so am looking forward to the new update (I got quite used to getting up in the morning and doing a new install, have been suffering from withdrawal symptoms
![]() I don't fully understand what you mean about the networking but no doubt like Symbiostock itself seeing it will make it all fall into place. PicturEngine looks good, I visited it the first time you mentioned it and again today and they seem to have been doing some work as you now have to log in to be able to do a search . Do they have a date planned for coming out of Beta as I seem to remember them doing a big launch thing about a year ago or more 846
Symbiostock - Development Area / Re: Big update: Search, Network, Fixes. Almost there.« on: April 27, 2013, 08:02 »
jcpjr - take a look at symbiostock.com - there are some tutorials on there in the forum
~~ Reef - there is certainly a different looking site - lack of navigation and way of finding categories might be a problem? I do like your verification though, that looks simple for visitors and as if it will work with any platform. I have sent you a message so you can check your messages are working and that email addresses come though ![]() 847
Symbiostock - Development Area / Re: Model Release? Workflow?« on: April 27, 2013, 07:53 »
I mention somewhere (either FAQ's or EULA) that I have them and have a link to a page where there is a sample available). Other than that I am only stating when I don't have one and that the picture is editorial. I would not pass on an actual signed model release due to its containing personal details, to a client unless there was an exceptionally good reason such as a court order

Hi Chris
Take a look at this thread - http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-technical-support/stupid-wordpress-question/ - that should help answer your query (and I thought it was quite a sensible question) ![]() Don't forget to add your site to the "what are you looking for in a match" in the networking section when you are ready |
