every websites is moving..but i don't really understand what is wrong with dreamstime, i put up more portfolio as i did with the rest, but revenue had been up down a lot for the past few month...

it is still in top 4, but it is not seeing a consistent trend as the rest of 3... quite disappointed!

How was your September.  One day left and I can say that it was a whole lot better than July.  I started to see the signs of a hopefully good fall.  Veer started to really pick up, as well as a few good days on Canstock.  Shutterstock really shot ahead as well.

Anyhow, I'll post more numbers and a graph tommorow.

.... and don't forget to vote.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the middle tier the next few months.

hi sc, do you mean a light gray background like that? this is version 1 but also got rejected by same reason.

just try to understand what a buyer really needs..

i can make it whiter but i find it easier for a buyer if they want real isolated and yet they may need a natural background.

I think you are still missing the point - it's too close to looking like you wanted to isolate it but failed. Either it needs to be all pure white
or all close to a light gray. Right now it doesn't look like a natural background.

hi plrang,

It is very impressive, possible to share some 'technology' concept of it? i mean this is the first time i come across install some script to change a website..

selling images at subscription price is kind of wasting your talent =)

hi i have few images had been rejected by shutterstock for reason:
Poor Lighting--Poor or uneven lighting, or shadows. White balance may be incorrect.

I can see the vignetting of images, i am not sure is it considered uneven lighting? it may not be isolated on pure white, but i do see it give a buyer choice to use it as natural background? or is it white balance is incorrect?

anyway to check white balance? how to tell it is correct? in the histogram it move to right side due to white background.

thank you.

GLStock / Re: Is GraphicLeftovers dead?
« on: September 24, 2010, 08:35 »
hi graphicleftovers is not accepting images with recognisable person.. no model release or property release.

Hi, Is there anybody who is having contact with graphicleftovers? I wanted to start upload my portfolio there, but can't find something about a Modelrelease. Uploading an image from a person, it's denied because of recognizeble face. Yes, I knew that ;)
I mailed several times to them, but no answer for weeks now. I think about deleting what I uploaded till now. Any advice?

Regards, Ivonne

i think in alamy there RM-Licensed, RM-rights protected..

I read somewhere people advise to set it as RM-L, since if a buyer need to use as RM rights protected, alamy will still check with you..

so if the images had been sold in zazzle as a mousepad, or a prints in redbubble, does it mean it is violating RM rights protected?

My thought is it is not, since there wasn't any commercial usage.. am i right?

Bigstock.com / Re: the word Apple copyrighted?
« on: September 24, 2010, 05:10 »
well, even you are right, i don't understand why people want to point finger and call out name... ??? isn't there a better way to communication?

937
so RM images is fine to use on zazzle too?

zazzle seems to sell many kind of products...

Bigstock.com / Re: the word Apple copyrighted?
« on: September 24, 2010, 00:34 »
i think the legal name of apple is actually 'apple computer'..

Holgs, you cannot trademark a common word, that is why companies do long very intense searches to make sure that thier names do not mean anything in any land. Such as Kodak, Verox and Exxon. You may trademark the "Apple: if it is in a custom font or thier famous apple with a bite out of it.

Hi all,

I think there is no problem to sell our RF images in redbubble, zazzle and those P.O.D sites..

how about RM images?

I think selling as prints on those site is not violated of RM license, but would like to get a confirmation here..thanks!

I sent an email to alamy and they gave me a reply that i think is a 'cut and paste' from their general reply. In alamy, as long as there is a person, even is not recognizable, a model release is required.

so now i wonder should i just go ahead to put it as RM or just sent it to microstock..

DepositPhotos / Re: Recent trend on DP
« on: September 23, 2010, 01:14 »
well, i know there is always invalid transaction for credit cards, what i mean is that happened to me in a low sales website, and 2 out of 4 sales in a span of few months. I am not sure anyone else encountered similar case, or i am just too 'lucky'.

anyone got something like returned sale?

i had 2 sales and another 2 returned sales, 1 returned sale is in June and one is in Sep. I emailed then and it is said it was because of stolen credit, so the transaction is invalid.

but i am still suprised how 'lucky' i am to get 2 returned sales(subs) out of 4 download in long period. my question is the files sure had been downloaded, but the transaction just didn't push through and dp didn't get the payment.

so it seems the security and the system there is very faulty, or some thieves are active there. Anyway, returned sales had never happened to me to other websites.

That's not uncommon. A lot of sites take the money back out of your account for a returned sale. Some put a hold on your funds until the transaction clears. That way they are not paying out money that they have not fully received. The only way this could be avoided would be to put a hold on the image until the transaction clears, but that would never work because a buyer needs that image now...not two weeks from now, so it's just a hazard of selling stock.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock raises upload limits
« on: September 22, 2010, 03:10 »
Hi all,

in istock, if you are illustrator and photographer, your upload limit is counted as vector and photos combined, right?

if you contribute video, audio..does it combined as the upload limit too?

it isn't quite right to combined vector and photo image as the upload limit..

General Stock Discussion / Re: online image gallery
« on: September 19, 2010, 08:33 »
the only problem of redbubble is if you are an user of redbubble, you can view images in quite big resolution with a small watermark at the corner.

it is quite surprise the site had gone on in this way, with many amazing photos and illustrations.. it seems like many artists doesn't mind at all..

General Stock Discussion / online image gallery
« on: September 19, 2010, 04:12 »
Hi all,

I wonder what online gallery you are using to show as portfolio? I am looking for one without payment.

flickr is limited to 200 images only.

redbubble is quite good, but i realize that your image is showing in big size without a proper watermark..

any good recommendation?
