Adobe Stock / Re: Files being removed from port
« on: April 12, 2025, 01:26 »
33 removed here, and no idea if that is all or just the beginning ...

BIG question here:  what figure will Adobe use to calculate if you're eligible for the annual free Creative Cloud subscription next year?  Your number of added files, or your "growth" after deduction of removed files?

Why doesn't your name match your official name? Do you have two names?
This story seems wild to me.

Nothing wild at all.  Lots of people use a nickname or self-invented name as their "contributor name", but for payments and for taxes, they always use their legal name, just like me.

Even if there is any spelling change or company information change, you need to inform them and claim your accurate ownership. This is not a complex process and I did it few years back and everything was set to go in a week.

Yes, I totally understand that ... but there WAS NO change ... there must be thousands of contributors whose contributor name is not the same as their legal name?  I've always been able to put my legal name on the tax form, but not this year, my contributor name was automatically on the form ...

You need to request shutterstock for a name transfer and submit the needed documents. You will not require to transfer the files.
Everything remains the same as you are doing ownership transfer.

Yes, I did understand that resubmitting the files was not expected, but why the ownership transfer as nothing changed on my side at all?

Shutterstock.com / Account name change needed for tax form???
« on: December 23, 2024, 07:53 »
Now this is new!  I've been with Shutterstock since 2006 and submitted lots of tax forms since then.
This time I got an e-mail, telling me I needed to submit a new one, so I went to the website and noticed that the pre-filled name was not my usual official (legal) name, but my nickname Anneke (which is my contributor name).  But it was not possible to change it on the tax form, so I contacted support, and the only solution to this huge problem is a transfer of my files to a new account name.
WHAT ???
Anyone had a similar experience?  I'm supposed to fill out special forms and send lots of proof etc etc just to do exactly the same as every year, and this while nothing changed in my personal situation ...

November 2018 was a BME for me ... but so were November 2017, December 2018 and November 2019 ... it just has always been a good month for me because of the holiday images.  So nothing exceptional here.

Adobe will beat Shutterstock YTD this year, but Shutterstock will always be better at holiday sales for me

Is there a page with visual examples?

No, the submission guidelines don't show any examples of what is or what is not allowed:

not worried  :)

I think that all content posted in the past if in any way against current terms, will simply be removed without any further consequences.

Content sent when the terms were already updated could lead to consequences.
Let's hope you're right!

I'm telling you because it's already happened to me.

if you notice a decrease in the amount of content in your port,go to the rejected content pages and you will find the content that has been removed, the reason for the rejection will probably be this:

"Audit Removal:Incompatible with the Terms"

Interesting!  I checked my own rejected files and could not find any "incompatible with terms" rejections - maybe they still have to start re-reviewing my port ...  Anyway, it's reassuring they just delete them!

Seeing the lack of reaction, I think I can conclude nobody is worried about past submissions going against current Adobe rules ?
Or would it mean nobody ever submitted images of crime/violence/abuse/nudity ... ??

Adobe Stock / Should we clean up (some) files on Adobe Stock ?
« on: August 25, 2024, 14:33 »
In one of the threads about closed/suspended accounts, some one referred to the submission guidelines.  I checked them out and noticed that the following subjects cannot be submitted (amongst others):  nudity, self-harm, violence, gore ...

I quote the content submission guidelines:
- Content cannot contain any nudity.
- Do not submit content that depicts the infliction of pain or damage to ones own body (I do have suicide images)
- Do not submit content that is violent
- We do not permit submissions of content with excessive gore, which includes depictions of blood (!!)
Your content may be removed, or your account may be deactivated, for not complying with these Account and Content Submission Guidelines

There were times years ago when stock agencies were REQUESTING subjects like domestic abuse, drugs, street violence, crime etc etc so as a result, I have quite a few images that would no longer be allowed under the current rules.
I'm also a (retired) newborn/maternity photographer and I do have a few "covered nudes" (implied nudity), all model released of course.

Are we now supposed to go over our entire library at Adobe Stock to find and delete all images of abuse, suicide, nudity, violence/crime etc. just to avoid the risk of account suspension?
And if we would all do this, wouldn't you think the Adobe's collection would become totally "impoverished" and give a one-sided view of society (just like Canva is currently doing by removing everything negative)?

My top year was 2012+2013, and now I'm at about 60% down (but retired now, so my main income is pension, not photography).  Still submitting, but at quite a low number of images per year.

After a month of silence, round 56 of image deletions ("violations") has just started with 2 images of a lady smoking a cigarette ...
Haha ... was it deleted because it's a cigarette, or because ladies should not be smoking ????
(and for those who wonder:  she is fully dressed, model released, the interior is property released, and there are no visible brand names or logos)

Yep, we can stop worrying, because if Canva suspended all accounts with "violating content" - they would be stuck with apples on white and nothing else.
I just got another "violation" :  a classic hunting still life of a dead pheasant and a hare, like in the 17th century paintings.

« on: March 28, 2024, 02:38 »
I only use it for editing portraits, but yes, one time I get a fantastic result simply by selecting a double chin and voil it's gone, and the other time I select part of a foot and Firefly replaces it by flashy pink socks!  It really feels like a lottery ...

Canva / Re: Trolley (Canva)
« on: March 21, 2024, 02:27 »
I think that's all that has to be done. Complete the tax form and select a payment method. It's pretty clear. Maybe they should just not have used the word "register".

Well, I just started to think you're right about that, but today I noticed a big pink bar at the top of my Canva page :

Important reminder: The deadline for registration with our new payment provider Trolley is March 31, 2024.  If you do not register with Trolley and complete the tax forms by this time, we will be unable to process your next payouts until you do so.  Your payments will be held until the next payment whilst you complete this action.

Mine are WAY down compared to the positive trend of the last 6 months, partly caused by a lot of negative "washington" sales ...
Are we supposed to all open a ticket at Istock now, or do you think the massive protest on the Istock forums will do the trick?

oh wow, Canva just send me another "violation" mail.  They deleted a photo of a young woman in 1920s flapper dress, smoking a cigarette in a cigarette holder.  Fully dressed.  Model released and property released.
??????

Canva / Re: Trolley (Canva)

Since December 15, 2023, I have 3 payments that have been made through Trolley, if I believe the lines written  (https://www.canva.com/settings/payments).

Yes, I noticed the same thing.  Canva is already using Trolley to pay us, but the announced "changes" are planned after 31st March.  I was also hoping they would stop taking off the taxes as from 1st April, because that complicates my tax form every year, so that's two reasons to pay extra attention to the Canva payment next month.

Canva / Re: Trolley (Canva)

I'd never heard of Trolley (or Payment Rails, its former name) before your post, so I was curious. I don't supply Canva, so I have no specific knowledge about their setup. It appears to me, based on this review and looking at Trolley's site, that the fees are for the companies who set up Trolley to be their payment platform for employees or suppliers, not for those receiving money from the platform.

https://www.jibble.io/us-hr-software-reviews/US-payroll/trolley/

There are references to being able to make payments to a bank account or to a debit card, but I couldn't find anything specifically saying that recipients of Trolley payments don't pay fees. There were complaints about onboarding being cumbersome - I think that means adding new payees to the system :)

Assuming there aren't any recipient fees, the reviews seem to say this makes a ton of sense for a company sending out payments worldwide - and in local currencies (no idea if Canva will be using that capability)

That sounds totally reasonable, I mean recipients paying no fees.  But why is Canva telling us to register with Trolley then?  It seems to me that this is not even necessary.
DannyCanva, could you enlighten us on this subject?  Is there any action required by contributors except for filling out the tax forms?

Canva / Trolley (Canva)
« on: March 06, 2024, 12:50 »

Quote from the Canva e-mailing of 30 November 2023 :

"Starting December 1, 2023, we will be asking you to register with our new payout provider Trolley by March 31, 2024. In order to receive your payouts after Mar 31, 2024, you will be required to both be registered with the new payout provider and to have completed the requisite tax forms. The tax forms are US W-8 (non-US Resident) or W-9 (US Resident) forms, and are needed in order to properly identify you and calculate correct taxes with the US government.
If you have not registered with Trolley and completed the tax forms by Mar 31, 2024 we will be unable to process your payouts. "

So March 31 is approaching, and (I suppose) we all completed the tax forms, but did any one register with Trolley?   I had a look on their website, and there is no such thing as a free registration. You're supposed to go for a paid subscription.
Or did Canva just use the wrong wording in their e-mail and we're not supposed to register on the Trolley website at all ?

And then I discover all of these words are because of innocent closeup photograph of two male hands with gay pride wristbands on them. Are we in Putin Russia now?

Wow, did they REALLY delete an image of male hands holding?
Oh well, I should not be surprised, as they just deleted my image "naughty Santa" of a young woman sitting on Santa's lap (and yes, she is fully dressed).

The funny thing is: Canva is known for deleting hundreds of images behind our backs, without notice and without any clear reason, and now they start sending violation e-mails about single photos ... haha.

It often happens that I submit a 50-image batch, of which 30 are accepted ... resulting in a total of +10 online files.  No way to find which 20 old ones they deleted (or why).
