Shutterstock.com / Earnings are gone ?
« on: December 02, 2015, 05:03 »
Good morning to you all !
I am a bit concerned about my earnings on SS ... They are just disappeared . It was about 50 Usd until yesterday and today as I logged in , I saw it was just 0.75 ... Why? I didn't claim payments ... Didn't receive any warnings or so... What happened?

So the black footer watermark is on , and that's it I guess... They won't change it again .... All  of my pictures are totally exposed , and now I only want to understand if and how this will affect sales/ subscriptions in the future at least.
Honestly, I feel betrayed ... But that's it, end of the story I guess..
That watermark is so easy to remove!! It's ridiculous.

Envato / Warning : very stupid question from a newbiee
« on: October 29, 2015, 18:10 »
Hello guys.
Just a very stupid question , I know.
I have some problems understanding how enviro works and where I have to upload my files . Every time I log in I feel lost and don't know where and what I can upload. There's so many sections!
I am not a photographer , in just an illustrator. I was wondering if :
1) it is possible to sell raster illustration
2) where do I have to upload? Graphic river or photodune?

Please have mercy! I am a newbiee and I'm scared they will close my account if I do some mistake!!!
Thank you guys!

The new watermark is just as useless http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-286685414/stock-vector-chicago-skyline-big-city-architecture-engraving-vector-illustration-hand-drawn.html

You have to check those who have the black footer ... In my port there just three files with the second version filigree

Look, I don't know! BUT... Since SS is always quite demanding with contributors , I guess they won't be so stupid to leave an ineffective watermark and let people take what they like like in a supermarket ...
For the moment I'm not going to upload anything ... I really want to understand what is the next move they will take

@Dodie ..... Don't talk to me like that ok? I am in Italy and it's possible that I read after you because of the time and things like this ... I saw the previews .... The aviation one looks ok to me... And the other one... Looks good but not perfect yet...
They say they need some time to make this change , so the only thing we can do know is actually .... Wait.  That was posted three days ago..

@Jo Anne yes, I already saw you're post and looked at the pics...

Did you guys read the topic in SS forum???

They say the new watermark will be different from now because it's going to have a black footer instead of white ( mine are whit white footer) and they say it will take few days to change the watermark...

This was wrote on 26th October ... Let's wait and see what happen...  meanwhile I have wrote to support ... Let's see

« on: October 29, 2015, 08:07 »
I have nothing against people from other countries.
but again, if you do this is USA , you would pass some trouble I guess. I don't know , I am just assuming this , since I am not American ...
Would you bet if you do your own pirate site it would be up for three days and then it would be close ?

OH , and BTW.... I just have found one of my illustration!

I don't know what do / think....
I just can't believe this is really happening.... Now it's been like ten days or something and nothing has changed... Makes me think that they won't fix it.. Am I right?

@Kamran ..... What the he'll are you talking about? Do you ever think when open your mouth and speak!?? Nobody is offedive here we are just discussing a matter of fact : PEOPLE WHO EARN MONEY FROM OUR FILES, buying once and earning forever. THAT PISS ME OFF OK?
Are you ok with people stealing your works? Well good for you. We are quite upset

If so, keeping uploading to SS does not make more sense anymore... What do you guys think?

I'm thinking that if this problem doesn't get fixed very soon, like within a week, I'll start pulling my images out of SS and going exclusive with FT.

This does make sense ... At least you will protect your work! I'm going to remember your advice I guess...  I am very disappointed. Look I'm not a photographer I'm just an illustrator but getting accepted in SS Was one of my goals 2 years ago.. Now I'm very frustrated and disappointed

Wait wait wait... Are you telling me that there's the chance SS won't fix this issue?? ...can't believe it! If so, subscribers first, and then all the rest of the world will pick and choose everything they want to... Just right click and save... I can't believe SS can actually think this is ok... Ok for us , or at least , for them.
They are also quite demanding on almost everything and.... How possible they don't see the stupidity with this?
If so, keeping uploading to SS does not make more sense anymore... What do you guys think?
I checked many of my pics and the watermark is visible only on darker areas..... I think it's a week now they have this new preview ... How long will this take to be fixed?

This is the official reply from shutterstock .... ( on shutterstock forum , on 21 October.)

"As always we appreciate feedback from our contributor community on changes we make in our marketplace. To drive more download opportunities, we are implementing a new watermark design. The new design, which we collaborated on with members of our contributor community, provides additional protection for your images that have an off-center focal point and for vector images overall.

While weve found that the new watermark provides additional protection weve also identified a small sub-set of images where the watermark could be more pronounced. We are adjusting the watermark on these images.

Our goal is to protect your content and drive value in our marketplace. We will keep you updated on progress as we continue to implement this change. "

Worst idea ever!!!!! Now it's so easy to save the image and the watermark doesn't cover very much, because is thin and transparent ... They should have kept the watermark in the center of the picture as in normal preview

I just signed the petition .... Do you think they will fix it?

20
I hope so! I was so sure ISP was the best as SS , which works really nicely

21
Thank you soooo much!!!
You've been very exhaustive ... And very kind.
I will read the links and ... I don't know, I will do everything as usual ...
My questions were just to understand ...

22
Ok thank you so much and sorry for my many question.
Does anyone in ISP know about this issue? Should I contact them? I mean... If we are all aware of this problem , and this problem is giving less visibility to all of us, they miss more sales and so do us..
Does it make sense?
Why they don't fix it?

23
Look, I basically copy/pasted the keywords from SS. Sometimes I deleted some of them because I was having the perception that copy and paste from SS IS Not the right move in ISP. ( am I right?)

Is there a reason why new files are less visible than older ones? This is a bit disappointing to me... I thought ISP was almost the best togheter with SS but it seems to have some serious issues with browsing the files : (

24
Ok ok ... Well thanks a lot for explaining this...
I am in istock since last year but I had some difficulties in understanding the whole key wording and the interface is still quite odd to me.
It's very different from other micro stock sites I am in .. But basically if you could give me an advice what would you say? Improve keywords?
Sorry if I sound stupid I am just trying to figure out the whole thing

25
I have the same problem!!! I am on ISP since last year and I have noticed that :
1) my images don't show up even under a precise research from title
2) zero visualizations on all files ( I don't have many files , around 100, but having zero visualizations looks bit odd to me)
3) my images don't show up even under "new" filter research ( for example files that were accepted three days ago, it only shows older files)

Am I doing something wrong? I don't know. Never happened on any other sites! Can someone explain ?
