I just ran into a picture via google image search that somehow manages to overlay a message on the enlarged google images view stating "CLICK HERE FULL RESOLUTION". Under it says: "HOLINK PROTECTION ACTIVATED - THE DOMAIN YOU ARE VIEWING FROM HAS BEEN EXCESSIVELY EMBEDDING - MAX ALLOWANCE 100GB".

I knew someone out there would figure this out, totally awesome. Next step is to somehow overlay an e-commerce kind of thing - one click and you're already at the checkout - no need to create an account.

Does anyone know of a place that sells photoshop related accessories like brushes, etc..? I've been working on little set of tools for my own work and have been considering selling them online. I've considered direct sales as well.

General Stock Discussion / Clustershot Closed
« on: January 31, 2013, 04:28 »
I recently wanted to check in with clustershot... nothing loaded. I went to google and found this cached page:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.clustershot.com/marcomayer/photo878056&hl=en&tbo=d&strip=1

Oh well. So much for that one. What really kills me - it actually worked! I really wish photoshelter would get a clue and disable the stupid requirement to signup to buy images from a photographers store. Nobody want's to deal with that nonsense. I really believe this is why clustershot made sales for people. Fast. Easy.

Alamy.com / Buggy Manager?
« on: April 12, 2012, 14:36 »
I'm using the Alamy photo manager today, and I've been getting really spotty performance when saving data. Sometimes it just doesn't save at all or takes forever. Anyone else having this issue?

Photoshop Tutorials / Advanced Photoshop Compositing Tutorial
« on: February 17, 2012, 15:22 »
I've been toying around with the idea of creating youtube tutorials for a while and I've finally gotten around to making one. This one focuses only on post production however. As usual, I go in depth - no fast talking quickie 4 minute tutorials for me. Just quality content, in depth, and advanced.

This is the image that is torn apart and dissected. It's composed of four separate images from my stock photography library.

Have fun! I'm starting work this weekend on some more videos. One is a photo shoot, the others are software reviews of some really cool cutting edge open source photography tools.

By now I'm sure many of you on here are aware of my anti intellectual property law beliefs. In the past I'm usually "dismissed", especially when I mention that IP laws are actually very dangerous to our industry, trade dress laws in particular. I just got an email from Getty Images, who represent some of my work, warning photographers about designer furniture appearing in their photographs, even as a minor part of the image. They are now conducting a massive removal of profitable content from the Getty Images website as a result, and asking photographers to help them weed out all kinds of content featuring furniture that might become targets for new law suits. This is the result of a law suite in French courts. I'm not sure if posting the email is appropriate or not, but I figured I would let you guys know that when I say trade dress is a problem, it's not some far off opinion. It's a legal reality. We all run the risk of being sued and labeled criminals because of current IP laws.

It's important to know that these law suits are not just at the agency level, but also at the photographer level. You read that right, you can be directly sued.

Something worth thinking about the next time you think expanding IP laws is a good idea....

Does anyone know anything about the Ingram Publishing "Agency Collection"? I find some images on the Ingram site that are attributed to that, but no information on who actually shot it. My initial impression is that its a collection of images Ingram produced in house, but I'm not entirely sure.

DepositPhotos / Deposit Photos Payout Request?

Does anyone know how you request payment? I can't find anything on their site and I'm over the $50 limit.

Thanks!

Is it just me, or are many agencies reporting incorrectly? I got THREE 1099's from Bigstock photo, and the 2nd correction is still WRONG. So far everyone is under-reporting.... I think... I know shutterstock pushes your December earnings over into the next fiscal year and my spreadsheets account for that when calculating my taxes, BUT, even they still are under-reporting...

So whats up with everyone else here????

General Stock Discussion / Cluster Shot Royalty Changes?
« on: March 10, 2011, 18:44 »
I recently made another sale at my clustershot site and I notice a HUGE increase in my cut of the sale. I got a 95% commission  :o

Just curious to see if anyone else has noticed this yet.

It's been almost exactly one year since I opened my clustershot pro account, it's certainly been profitable.

General Stock Discussion / Asian Photo Agencies?
« on: November 02, 2009, 10:20 »
Does anyone know of any Asian based photo agencies that service countries like Japan, China, etc... ? I know all the major US/European agencies offer their sties in those languages, but I'm looking for agencies that are literally based in Asia and sell to Asia.

Thanks!

General Stock Discussion / Artwork Releases?
« on: October 28, 2009, 18:02 »
I recently found a great home location which contains some simple modern style artwork made by the homeowner. What would I need to do to show I have permission to include their artwork in my photos as props which are not the main subject?

Veer / Veer Contributor Ports LIVE
« on: October 21, 2009, 18:31 »
So I logged in this evening, and I was surprised to see I had a bunch of sales in one day - not the norm there. I was happy, but then I got curious because they were all from a series of images. I wondered how they found them all, and sure enough I found the answer - live contributor portfolios :) I'm hoping this means more frequent sales now that buyers can finally isolate contributors they like. Check it out.

« on: August 25, 2009, 13:29 »
I finally hit 250+ downloads a week back, and my canister is now updated, but I can't upload 20 images a week yet. What gives? Do I have to wait 30 days or something?
