By chance I happened across an image of mine on Spiderpic.  The info provided credits me as the photographer and dreamstime as holding the license.  Normally I wouldn't be too bothered by an image being on a "partner" site except this image had been rejected by DT, and was not part of my portfolio there. Iin fact I had since placed it elsewhere as a RM since it appeared not to be to DT's or IS's  taste.
I have written to DT to have the image removed.  Anyone else find REJECTED images on partner sites. Ii have never allowed rejected images on any site to be used for free or sold elsewhere.

Zymmetrical.com / trying to leave zymmetrical
« on: November 14, 2009, 17:53 »
Hi.  I normally wouldn't post this here but my frustration level is getting too strong.  Earlier this year I contacted Zymmetrical to ask how to delete my images.  I received an email asking why I wanted to do so.  I responded and heard nothing else.  Since then I have opened two support tickets with the smae request.  Both have been ignored.
Will someone from the site please respond to this.

General Stock Discussion / I found a book cover
« on: July 25, 2008, 13:49 »
This is my first "concept" image, I took it years ago.  I showed it to my daughter, who owns one of the hands, and she was impressed that her hand is now in bookstores.  Now that I have more experience, my new "concepts" will probably go to a RM site.  This is my second cover, but the first was for an online only book.

I finally made up my mind this weekend and decided to close my FP account.  I emailed them Monday morning and asked what would be the best way to delete all my images and close the account.
They emailed me back that afternoon and told me that my images had been deleted, my account closed and my earnings, which were well below payout would be deposited in my paypal account.
They emailed me yesterday and said that the earnings had been deposited.  When I check my paypal account, there they were, and had actually been deposited the day the account was closed.
Thank you FP.  I had not expected to see the earnings from there.

Bigstock.com / word nusage warning at BigStock
« on: April 23, 2008, 05:49 »
Here's an interesting warning I just got while uploading to Bigstock.  Mind you I was uploading images of poison ivy.

"You have used the words, "ivy, and poison", more than once within any of these fields: Title / Description / Keywords.

You may choose to ignore this warning and click the "Save and Submit" button to continue, but please consider that excessive keyword stuffing may negatively effect your placement in search results. We urge you strongly to make sure your keywords are accurate and not to use the same word(s) excessively."

How can you title, describe and keyword something if you can only use each word once??

Off Topic / I know it's not microstock, but
« on: January 19, 2008, 10:34 »
I have been following, threads regarding the microstock model, reading the links and started to do some google searches to see how my images may be found when I saw something that some folks here may want to try.

While doing this I spotted a website listed as "The Poison Ivy Store".  I followed the link and saw that they took images of posion ivy and sold them as laminated cards so people could carry the images while on nature walks to help them identify the poisonous plants.

Just thought I'd put the idea out for anyone who does nature photos and might want to try and sell laminated versions through their websites or Ebay.

BTW, I did a google search using some of my key words connected by "and" followed by image (ie Bodhran and whistle image) and saw my images pop up with links to the sites they are on, in one case the first four search results were my images with links to two on BigStock followed by two on Zymetrical.

Off Topic / is this considered alcohol abuse???????
« on: January 11, 2008, 14:20 »
I needed to use a stein of beer for some images.  In order for the light to work I had to do them during the day, well before the sun was "over the yard arm", thus I didn't feel right in drinking it, so I poured it out when I was done.  Now I am wondering.  Was that alcohol abuse?

Featurepics.com / Maybe it's worth the effort after all
« on: January 05, 2008, 00:15 »
After following the threads on Featurepics I spent some time on there and cleaned out my portfolio of some of my earlier, poorer images.  I then did some sweeping price changes.  Images that have sold poorly or only at subscription sites I have left at $2.00, images that have sold fair at IS,Dt or StockXpert I set at $5.00 and my best sellers are now priced at $10.00.  I then started pushing FP with a link from my website.
Today I sold a $5.00 image and earned $3.50 from it.  If this becomes a trend I'll be uploading more there

Hi all, I had decided to cancel my account at LO.  Rather than go through and delete each image I emailed support and asked if they could just cancel my account and delete my images.  I never received an answer back from them.  Today I went searching around LO and found my account was cancelled but when I did an image search as an outsider my images (by keyword) still showed up.  If I clicked on one I got a banner saying image is not avalaible  for sale, BUT, I can right click the thumbnails and save them all I wanted.

General Stock Discussion / PhotoShelter Archive FTP question
« on: November 09, 2007, 17:05 »
I have been playing around with a trial sub scription to PSA trying to see if it would be worth it for me to archive my images there (private, not public galleries) and use them to upload via FTP to various agencies.  I like the idea because then I can set the uploads and do not need to have my computor connected to the internet or even turned on while the uploads are being sent.
Problem is, I cannot get it to work.  Any hints out there on setting it up? I keep getting either server rejections or unable to connect with StockXpert, fotolia and Albumo.
If I can get it to work I think it might be a worthwhile investment ($10.00/month for basic).
Anyone out there using it?

General Stock Discussion / reviews, things keep flip/flopping
« on: October 29, 2007, 10:01 »
I tell you, some weeks differ so much from others.  These past few weeks I have had 100% rejection from IS and almost 85% acceptance at DT.  A few weeks ago it was the opposite.  I've given up trying to figure it out.
On the other hand, the two images that StockXpert rejected after I uploaded updated files of already accepted images:  one was reversed and accepted again, the other is still rejected for "artistic reasons".

StockXpert.com / I am really burning about this one
« on: October 21, 2007, 19:47 »
Last week I took two images that had been accepted by StockXpert but needed some cleaning up in the background.  I uploaded the cleaned up images and both were rejected, neither for technical reasons.  One said "try a different angle" and the other said "we are not accepting such images right now."  I've written to support but I am really burning about this.

Cameras / Lenses / Advice on future purchase
« on: September 24, 2007, 12:54 »
Okay, I know I'm not the most serious stock shooter here, but I really am trying to change that.  ;D  I've even had some payouts. :D
To date 95% of my sold images have been taken with a Pentax *DS (6mp).  I love the camera and have a range of lenses for it that I am happy with.  I have even passed Alamy's QC test with images taken from it and upsized.
The other 5% of my sold images were taken with a Canon Powershot A630(8mp), and also have had Alamy accept images taken with it.

Now the problem  :'( Illness has been slowly taking away the amount of weight I can hold and how steady I can hold things.  For images that I am "setting up" this is not a problem as I can use a tripod.  But, I am looking to get a lightweight camera/lens that has IS for my carrying around camera.  Originally I was going to get the Pentax K100 as it has in body IS and is lighter than my DS.  But as the sites are rasing the bar for minimum image size, and somtimes cropping has got to be done for "on the go" shots, I'm not sure which way to go.
Options:
1.  Pentax K100D as planned, but it is only 6mp.

2.  Switch to another brand of DSLR, but I really don't want to build another system right now and would have to sell off the Pentax gear to afford IS or VR lenses (or to buy the two lens Olympus kit)

3.  Find a P & S similar to my Canon but with IS.

My initial budget had been aroune $400, but now I don't know whether to stick with what I have, buy now, or stick with what I have until I can afford the $1000 plus it would cost to start switching systems, or go with an IS P& S.

I have to admit that this is the first time Pentax has had me seriously consider jumping ship.
Thanks for letting me ramble, any input would be recommended.

Dreamstime.com / newest rejection reason at DT
« on: September 06, 2007, 07:14 »
Hi all.  I just had an image rejected at DT for the following reason:
"White balance parameter was not correctly assigned"
Guess the reviewers are getting creative over there.

Adobe Stock / FT getting stranger
« on: July 06, 2007, 07:50 »
Hi, this morning I received two emails from FT, both identicle and both rejecting an image I hadn't even uploaded.  Nor, based on the image name would it had been one of mine sent in error on my part.  I responded and received an answer back in French.  Both original emails had been in English.

123RF / pending time revisited
« on: October 02, 2006, 05:29 »
I am giving up..I have had five photos waiting for review since Sept. 9'th.  Emails to support have not even gotten me an automatic response.
Judy..proud owner of a new canon A630..to bodly go where my DSLR has not gone before.

Hi all, I was trying some new stuff out last week and on Friday (9/8/06) I uploaded the same five images to IS, DT, BigStock, FT, FP, 123Rf, StockXpert and LO.  As of Sunday night I have had all five reviewed (in order of speed) by FP, StockXpert, FT, BigStock, LO.  I knew that IS and DT would be late but I was very surprised at the speed of BigStock and at the lack of speed at 123RF.  Just a mini-test, YMMV. BTW..I also learned from my experiment in that of the 5 images reviewed so far I had only one reject, and that was the same image at both StockXpert and FT.  StockXpert said it was too dark while FT said,

"The photographs in the Fotolia database are intended for sale as illustration of brochures, magazines, websites, and presentations. Your photographic work is excellent but does not meet the needs of the Fotolia customer base."

Nicest rejection I ever received.  ;D hey it was an experiment and I learned from it.  No complaints here.

StockXpert.com / It finally happened
« on: August 24, 2006, 13:43 »
;D I joined StockXpert in mid May. After having no sales ther despite everyone else loving the site i was discouraged. After having nine out of eleven images rejected this week for "we are not looking for such images at this time" reasons I was really getting dejected. (five people, two landscapes, one boat and a pony were all rejected for that..they accepted one image of a child and one of a drawbridge). Well today it happened. My first StockXpert sale. And it was of one of the first images I had uploaded in May. Another 32 more and I reach payout. ;D

Alamy.com / I did it
« on: August 09, 2006, 05:43 »
;D  ;D  ;D Secretly, and behind the scenes I lurked, I read, I posted a little.  But, I dared not tell anyone that I had greater aspirations.  I PASSED MY ALAMY QC TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D  ;D  ;D

I am sooo confused and writing to their support has netted me no response at all.  In May and June I uploaded (and had accepted) 29 images.  Near the end of June I noticed that I had .58 eur in my account.  Thinking that maybe it was a .2 eur bonus for uploading I waited until the first of July and uploaded 2 more images.  I now have a portfoilo of 31 images and no sales, but now my account says I have 2.08 euros.  What in the world is going on?  I've been all over the site and found nothing to explain this, and as I said, support has never responded to me.

Hi all.  I know that Fotolia was having some bugs yesterday but this one has me "bugged".  I received two acceptance emails from them yesterday.  When I logged onto the site and went to my photos the images were no longer there. (Or at least visible) The acceptance messages were in my message folder.  I sent an email asking about what happened.  When I logged in this morning not only were my photos no longer there my acceptance messages in the folder were gone as well but the older messages were still there.  Any ideas, should I be patient or is this a first for them?
