Don't forget the Hawks already beat the Pats earlier in the season.

Thanks. What's funny is there was someone else who played last year, local, with a similar name.

Update tomorrow when the totals are in. Let me say, Packers are the home team for me. I said more swear words in the last five minutes than I did in all of 2014. Seattle tried to lose, best they could and the defense for the Packers managed to give it up.

Touchdown - onside kick - touchdown - two point conversion... overtime - touchdown = GAME!

Patriots vs Seattle Super Bowl. I'm in the unfortunate position of the conclusion, the Patriots will win it. And I can't possibly cheer for Seattle, so it's just another game.

I would be Mr. McFumble...   ::)

Seahawks just took the lead and broke a record in the process. And made the 2 point conversion!!! Where have they been all day?

Bicycle laws have been in effect for well more than 40 years.

If you ride a bicycle on any street in any state you must obey the traffic laws and that includes speed limits, stop signs, stop lights, crosswalks and everything else.

I got pulled and warned by police when I was 14 or so for going 30mph and the speed limit where I was was 25mph.

No  one truly enforces bicycle laws no matter if they are on the books or not.

"Last year, a group of media organizations, including the Associated Press, New York Times and Tribune Co., filed an amicus brief in a case challenging the FAAs legal authority to regulate drones. They complained that the FAAs overly broad policy violates the First Amendment and has already had an impermissible chilling effect on some journalists reporting."

or

"In countries where drone rules are less restrictive, journalists are already using them to gather news. Drones helped show the scope of recent protests in Thailand and Hong Kong. BBC has used the devices to do some reporting. And last year, CBS News used a drone to explore the contaminated areas around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine."
You can be sure that gov wants to be able to watch you but they don't want you to be able to watch them.

As far as safety concerns, should we outlaw something because somebody somewhere might be injured someday?

What about kids riding bicycles, they get going pretty fast and some of those kids are big. What if one hits somebody and injures them? Better make bicycles illegal. And what about home swimming pools? You know how many people drown in them every year? Better make those illegal too. And silverware. Those knives and forks are too sharp to be used at the dinner tables of people who might suddenly decide to stab each other or do so by accident. Only plastic spoons should be legal.

Who's talking about outlawing them? The FAA is trying to determine how they'll operate in existing airspace and how to set reasonable regulations for operating them. All the items you mentioned have regulations, possibly with the exception of silverware. Bicyclists have hit and killed pedestrians, just recently in Central Park, leading to bike speed restrictions there. Kids are required to wear helmets while on a bike. Pools have regulations, and you can't get a certificate of occupancy for your house without meeting them, at least where I live. I'm sure there are even more regulations regarding public poolsrequiring lifeguards and use of chemicals, for example.

Moved.

Just donated...good luck to you.

I think this case is ridiculous.  To have to worry about litigation when we make pennies off this.  From my own experience, models think we make a lot of money off stock because they see their face on billboards.  In reality, it couldn't be further from the truth.

I don't suggest that Shutterstock use their legal fees to combat all claims...but for a high profile case like this, they really should consider hiring an attorney to send the message that nothing was done wrong here.

Looks like I need to take out insurance now even with signed model releases.
Apparently some people dont read the links much less look at them.

And it's those Idjuts that need to be arrested, but yet that is to hard apparently so the one bad apple spoils it for everyone else!

Well, the FAA has to get involved because they govern U.S. airspace. You can't have people flying drones around where they'll get in the way of flight patterns. Already in New York there have been a couple of instances of videographers flying drones too close to police helicopters. That's what they're testing near me...how to incorporate unmanned drones into the airspace. They promise the drones will just fly out to sea to record and there will be no invasion of privacy. But they'll only be a couple hundred feet over my house as they head out or come in, so I find that hard to believe.
The FAA only governs air space above 400 feet and for good reason.

If the FAA starts limits on anything below 400 feet then that will include ultralight planes and copter that hobbyists build and fly and I am not talking drones I am talking about manned ultralights which right now are not governed by the FAA same as drones.

Anyone flying a drone near a police copter is a F*****G IDJUT and should be arrested besides police choppers are easily above the 400ft limit so what kinda drones are they flying at those altitudes?

And even at 400 feet the drones become a spec in the sky unless you are watching through binoculars.

Here is a 1/4th scale USAF jet (drone) top speed can be no more then 200mph as per the law and always are flown below the 400 feet limit, trying to keep up with one of these from the ground takes some serious concentration and skill, just one jet cost's $60,000 and the guy who owns this has 3 of them.

Pros obey the laws and rules wile other F*****G IDJUTS don't and ruin it for those that do.

I am with Pete on this.

People  have  flying model aircraft, helicopters and boats since back on the 70's.

Oh wait BOATS!

No regulation on them?

Getting caught in props or waterpumps etc.

It is the idiot that launched and flew one at an airport! WTFWHT???????

And because of this now there are new laws for the police to try and figure out when most of them already have no idea about photography on foot much less photography in the air now.

Basic common sense applies to the photography law and rules both on foot and in the air.

REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY.

There has been nothing new posted by anyone since then and it is like no one is in charge and the site is in limbo!

Anyone here anything new as of recently?

Not from back in October and nothing since then?

posted on their forum:

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to post an update here, as I understand there are some questions regarding views and vectors. The two are unrelated, but are two outstanding technical developments that contributors may have noticed:

 VIEWS:
Views are not being updated presently. We're updating some of the code behind the scenes as we work on rolling out some exciting search improvements, and views is presently a casualty of that. We will restore the functionality, but given it's primarily a "just for fun" feature, we're focusing on the bigger improvements at the moment before circling back and getting it working again.

So if you notice your files are not getting views, that does not mean they are not being seen - as many of you will now have files with 0 views and 1+ sales.

 VECTORS:
Vectors have been a real pain for many of us recently. We've had an ongoing issue with processing vectors, as we for a while have been barely able to keep up with the flow of vector files coming in. That's a great problem to have, of course. But if a contributor uploads 10,000 vectors at once, it means the entire system can be delayed for a day.

Vectors are deceptively complicated to process in the back-end, as there are so many different ways the files are saved and so many possible issues to run into. So they have always taken much longer than JPG images for us to process.

One issue we have had more and more of is people uploading vector files that just contain a single JPG image in a layer. Not only are these files that we would never want to sell, as it's deceptive for customers, but it also is very hard for our system to handle. Our system assumes that .eps files are true vectors - so when rasterized content is included, it tries to make sense of it, which can lead to it crashing. I think people would be genuinely shocked at how many files like this, and otherwise invalid files we get. Those tend to hurt the system and slow down things for everyone.

So we launched an entirely new vector processing system, which is 10x as fast and able to better detect invalid files. This should mean in the future there won't be any delay in vector files being processed, which many of you will be happy to hear. Over the last week we have been using it to catch up on the backlog. There have been some glitches, however, with thumbnails being broken for some files as one such issue. As a result, we have been sending files back in batches to be re-processed. We have also been working on systems to remove the poor files I mentioned above.

We're on the home stretch now and hope to be caught up with the vector processing and fix broken thumbnails shortly. Thanks for your patience for all of this, as we think the end result will be worth the speed bumps we've had over the last week or two.

 Duncan

Here's an idea!

In a house somewhere that you would like to live with an ISP, electricity, water, sewer,  cable, heat, AC, phone, a view, away from civilization.

Ah hell just now finding out about this!

Thanks a lot!

Where was this a few days ago?

Oh well only 45F here going to around 70 then tomorrow look out cause the high will be 30 degrees cooler than today and we may hit 39F they say!

Yep that means a cold front with excess temps on each side so that means what?

Yep you got it rain and T- storms followed by extreme cold air and maybe a little winter precip on the back side.

So no meteors to be seen around here anytime soon!  :(

Lighting, WB, fringing.  ;)

Your Grand Pa knew my Dad? "If they aren't biting off the dock, there's no reason to go out onto the lake."

Personally I always said, more fish are lost because of bad line and dull hooks. "Always make sure your hooks are sharp." It applies to photos too. Be selective, only send up your best and not just anything.

But fisherman's wisdom is like old wives tales. There's one for every situation and many contradict another. That and fisherman are notoriously liars? LOL

I bought this place to be closer to the race track. Also to get out of the city, and also to downsize the office. I've posted this before or maybe in PMs, but, this was taken standing on my driveway, looking West. I haven't sent it up for Microstock, but maybe I should, just to prove the point. (will it get accepted?)

[please accept my apologies the image is a panorama and wider than the forum box]

True, people can travel and take useful, good, marketable images. But for the expense and time, shooting close to home will produce equally good shots with someone who has eyes and talent. No they won't be travel, unless it's seem as that for someone who doesn't live where you do?  :)

Where to live as a stock photographer? Well everyone needs to decide that for themselves. For me, it's "Pete's Place"  8)

Might be my answer to good place to live near and work? 28 miles...

My Grand Pa always told me the best place to fish is your own backyard  ;)

Hey there pete!

For what it is worth you may as well crap in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first!

Because no one here or on SS has the so called mysterious date you are and have been asking for or else they would  have already provided it to you.

It's a business and whenever a business finds a way to make more they make changes and if those submitting to them see their income drop it is up to them not SS to find out what to do differently and how to do it differently so they don't see this drop but instead of this they choose to come up with this mystery date you are talking about.

Sorry but the truth hurts and now lets have some popcorn and beer and watch as the show begins.

Here Pooh pooh on you some more! ;)

Thank You! I've been trying to point out the same information and get pooh poohed with "algorithm change", capping, blackouts and who knows what else. Personally the IS exclusives coming over are a drop in the bucket, but part of the problem.

June 2012 20 million images. Aug 2014 40 million images.

Exactly what you have been saying. We can't keep up with that doubling of competition, and even an uploading machine, won't keep up with 10 million new images by March or April 2015.

We are bound to lose our share of the sales. This is not any great or mysterious discovery. Just that people don't want to admit that we are getting buried by the numbers.

Here's the thing that scares the crap out of me...

Look at the chart for "Historical Operating Metrics"...

The rate of growth in the image collection has been accelerating at a frightening pace.

From Q3 to Q4 2012, the collection grew by 7.4%.  That rate of increase steady rises from quarter to quarter, and in the most recent period, from Q2 to Q3 2014, the collection grew by 10.0%

THIS is why we're making less and less while we upload more and more.  Unless you're an uploading machine, you cannot keep your port growing at the accelerating rate of the overall collection.

If this trend continues, most of us will watch our SS earnings continue to dive no matter how hard we work.

Very discouraging stuff, and it's making me question how much blood, sweat and tears I will continue pouring into microstock.

Most us piss poor peons aren't in the class of offset, besides even  some of the so called best weren't even allowed the bridge to BS!

Big Whoopee!

I'm in the same club PB. I won't waste their time, or mine, applying when I know I don't have the kind of images they are looking for.

Did you apply (get accepted) to OFFSET?

No + No

I gave no interest whatsoever in applying to Offset or Stocksy.   I already know I don't make the kinds of trendy images they seem to like.
