So when was the last time you checked your port over at BS?
Yesterday for some strange reason all of a sudden mine changed big time!
I now all of a sudden for some reason have stock photos (21,031,051 results) ?
This is similar to what SS had with video port display for a long time.
Just wondering.

Overly happy caucasian, laughing young boy and his pet dog playing in the sand on the beach during a summer day.
On SS that would have been nailed for lighting/WB, OOF and composition if not more.

Same thing in NASCAR. The design on the welding helmet looks very similar to a NASCAR drivers paint scheme both on his helmet and on his car, and yes they are custom designed and painted Good point and thanks Barry, I don't weld, so I wouldn't be shopping. Now I know. But it does look distinctive.
I'll add a little tale. Drivers in race cars DO have individual designs. I was watching a Skip Barber group practice and saw a guy I know go past. (he's not in the school, the cars are by draw and change every session, it's for fairness and training - the races are the same way) I emailed and asked him, he said, he was testing... So if anyone thinks that the paint designs on a racers helmet are generic, sorry, most are custom painted and would be protected just like tattoos are.
Fair warning if that's helpful.
Do you know these people? I know it's kind of obscure for the "normal" or average person, but for a racing fan, I think many would be able to identify all three of these internationally known - and currently racing - women drivers. And that was a huge hint.
Point is, normally these would be, someone in a crash helmet. But to someone in the business, it's easy to spot them. Same could very well apply to the welder in the first image that needed a release. Caution first, the agencies don't want lawsuits.
Yes Dave on a scale of 1-10 your quote below is an eleven.
I don't really see the point of this thread though. You've already had a reply on the iStock forum from the head of the inspection team there, explaining iStock's rules on this type of shot. It's their site and they can take or refuse what they like. There is no "right or wrong"

Could be an old design from any f the following manufacturers. Lincoln Miller Snap On Tools Mac Tools MATCO Tools Sears Northern Hydraulics Harbor Freight Lowes Even Wal Mart. Mom poking ravioli - IS needed a model release. People drinking blue shots at a bar - no release. (can't say for SS they rejected both for lighting )
It's not just hands it "can the person identify themselves or could someone else identify them" I don't see it as one or the other, but either. Note the sweater, eyeglass lanyard? And maybe she could have remembered the table cloth? The bar is pretty generic, table, glassware, tray, no jewelry, everything (except the top of Betty's head), could be anyone anywhere.
Welder, no one answered, is that a custom paint hood? The part he's working on, is not generic. The workshop is fairly unremarkable. But back to the question: Could this person recognize himself if he saw the image? Than it needs a release.

I have been an auto tech longer then you can imagine and I can clearly tell you that if I was dressed like that I sure would know it was me as would whoever is all dressed in your shot! Anybody in dam near any certain given instance in certain situations could almost always know whether it was them or someone else. And yeah the welding helmet should require a PR. What are you smoking?
A mannequin?
Welding with sparks flying?
And what magic is making this happen?
As soon as a spark would hit the mannequin it wood ignite into a blazing fire!
Relax, I'm not saying that it is actually a maniqui inside... Off course it's a person. But if there were not sparks, how can you tell it's a person inside?.... the point is not if in this image is a maniqui or not... or if this can be prove...
The point is the this person is cover in many layers of clothes that in theory there is no way it can be recognice... or at least I thoungh that. And how much the MR is important in this case.
PD: I don't even smoke cigarretes.

I thought it was like "can this person 'prove' is him/her in the picture"... because it there when is really a problem...
In this case in particulary, it can even be a maniqui and there is no way to know that it isn't...
but I guess just someone saying "it is me" it's enough.

Yep and if someone was to know there was a coming recession they could make a killing so no need to worry about microstock, that would be the least of your worries with all the rest going on as the cash cows were being herded into the bank vaults. No
And your assumption is that economists are right and know what's coming?

Yep there are many time the keywords can easily exceed 50 and get into the 100 range so you have to make the call on what to eliminate. But there is a way you can get all of your keywords into the 50 max. It's all very well arguing that one missed keyword can lose hundreds of dollars, but what about the keyword limit? If the nitrile gloves are holding titanium metal halsey forceps you are already looking at "hand, male, surgeon, surgery, surgical, operation, holding, titanium, halsey, metal, forceps, glove, nitrile" which is about 25% of the keywords gone on what might be a very small part of the scene. When you are at 53 keywords you have to start asking yourself whether "nitrile" "halsey" and "titanium" are terms that are likely to be among the more popular search terms and, if not, you have to cut them.

This is what I have been telling everyone at SS for the better part of the last year if not longer. So some of the non believers have just did as I have been saying and they went out and shot this. Stock Photos, Illustrations, and Vector Art (161) And this. Stock Photos, Illustrations, and Vector Art (293) I just did a search for "doctor syringe nitrile" and got 13 images while "doctor syringe" turns up 22,000; many of those folks are wearing gloves. So there are definitely ways that contributors can optimize things like metadata to maximize their earnings. And of course, not every buyer might want gloves - but there's the possibility of shooting the model both ways.

Latex gloves are still widely used by the medical field all around here and if you or they are allergic to latex then they wear the other non latex vinyl or the non latex Nitril, it all depends.
These are also widely used in other specialty fields other then the medical industry as well.
Interesting, our local fire department just dumped their entire stock of latex gloves as "no longer suitable for use" and replaced them with non-latex. The directive to do so came down from higher, so I thought that it was a national thing, guess not.
This I could see with the fire dept since they are in contact with people in life threatening situations and you don't have time to find out if they are allergic to latex or not.

Nope that has been going on for at least 1yr. Popular's been a bit odd for a while, but the high placement of images that have never sold is recent.

I'll give old Uncle Pete a big +1 on this. Been going on forever and why so many people starting new threads about an easily 1yr old subject if not 2yr old subject, there are threads about this all over the place. I think you are right, except it's been that way for months, judging from the "Popular is Broken" complaints!
I like it because if someone is trolling for my most popular and wants to steal them, they can't tell anymore.
Do buyers go to individual collections and look at "Popular"? Why? Just random, I like Shelma so I'll go look at her most popular? New might be a better choice.
Only place where I see New Image Boost, in Popular, helping most of us, is giving new images a chance in views, instead of just dumping them at the bottom of the heap, never to see the light of day.
Translation, I think it's a good thing that New Images are given a popular boost, to help them gain exposure. Not a bad thing.
I'm guessing it's a response to the many complaints that new files aren't selling/ being seen. Seems they've changed the algorithm to get new files upfront a bit more.

Yeah that right there is in bad taste and smells of a scam looking for lowly victims. but you have to pay to read it. I did too, I think he promised the results, but maybe I'm wrong. Either way, I'm not going to pay to read the analysis of a survey that I participated in for free.
Were all the photographers Turkish? Or were there other nationalities?
I'm in the USA and I took the survey.

What are the agency rules for acceptance of "digital paintings"?
Are you talking about making a digital painting in PS? Or taking a digital picture of a painting? Or taking a digital picture of a painting and then filtering and brushing it into a painting style image? Each one has their own rules for getting accepted.

Cha ching it is the in thing! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/31/food-instagram_n_5736548.html?cps=gravity
That's their description, not mine, but I wondered what the food shooters here think of these?
First thing I wanted to ask, was so many are straight down shots. Is that what's "trending" now. Or only for Instagrams.
And second, since I haven't used it that much, (not a phone camera fan) is there a setting for "Do Nothing"? I only see ways to alter the image and somehow ruin it or change them into some aberration.
Yes, straight down shots are popular - take a look at Saveur, Food Network Magazine, Martha Stewart Magazine, etc. and you will see it used a lot. Seen on blogs and Pinterest too.
I haven't used my phone camera much either but I believe there is a "do nothing" option.
The examples shown were certainly not what I would have chosen as examples of great images you can find on Instagram.
