Hi Gillian, I didn't know Adobe did briefs. Where do we find them?
I get them in emails usually.

I only give Getty stuff that was declined by my 2 top exclusive agencies, and even then I prefer Adobe/SS. I don't care for their briefs anyway, Adobe still does the best briefs.

Ignore this nonsense.  Just some cancel-culture keyboard warrior.

I know quite a few people with afro-hair.  They all refer to their hair as "my 'fro" or "my afro".

Its descriptive.  There's a trend these days to ban accurate, descriptive words.  Don't fall for it.
ignore it?
Cancel Culture is the New Normal. It's gone beyond the keyboard i'm afraid.  maybe you haven't noticed it yet, but by the time you do, it'll be too late.

Believe it or not but people like Oringer, Zuckerburg etc etc are lefties and now with a new leftie President???  lefties have always become rich on other peoples work or money! so Jim how do you propose to get somebody like Oringer to do this?

There's so much wrong with this paragraph that I don't know where to start. But for now... I was always under the impression that 'righties' weren't a big fan of 'handouts', so I'm guessing you wouldn't be interested in this anyway?
live in Venezuela, which is a socialist country, almost communist, and I can assure you that the people who came to the government and have already been in power for 21 years came as almost .beggars and now have great fortunes.

Authoritarianisms do not matter whether they are from any side of the arc of political ideas. Any authoritarianism is a dictatorship. The nomenclature with which dictators call themselves is independent of the pain, tragedy and blood they inflict on the people.

I think we can all find common ground in acknowledging the disappointment we all feel in our governments, left or right.  I personally wouldn't proudly wave a flag for either side.

it's fine, there was some kerfuffle last year when they changed royalties and contributors were super annoyed, so they allowed up to create a second account that was exclusive only.

any roadmap on this being addressed Mat? Or are you forced to just keep saying 'it's a known issue'?  No barbs at you mate!

...Microstock killed traditional stock. Giving away images for free will kill microstock.

Most of the changes since have been either agencies trying to poach business from one another, not increasing the pool of buyers, or dropping any idea of acceptance standards to increase the supply of images - more of the same, not so much expanding the type of imagery available to buyers.

excellent observation, and I had wondered if Adobe is doing this to knock out their competitors, instead of trying to get new customers. I suppose they've tried to suggest they are trying to bring in new customers, but we all suspect they are not the right kind of customer, ie, a paying customer.

Hi everyone,

I truly appreciate the feedback you've given so far. As many of you know, I've been an active member in this forum since long before I worked at Fotolia and eventually Adobe Stock. You've always held me accountable and have never been an "easy" group. While you've proven challenging at times, you have consistently earned my respect and you continue to do so. It's why I'm here as much as I am. It's not just me that values your opinions at Adobe Stock. The entire team is grateful for who you are, and what you do. I know I say this a lot, but it's important to me to emphasize it again. Without content creators, Adobe Stock does not exist. We have a great responsibility to you and we take that very seriously.

There are no perfect answers or solutions. Once it seems you've got things figured out, the industry changes. That's the only thing I've found that stays the same in stock as the years go by...change. We cannot realistically expect to continue to do the same things, the same way and find the same results as we have had in the past. If it worked that way, I'd still be submitting everything with massive amounts of Gaussian blur and spot color. We have to adapt and evolve.

It is my mission to provide you all with communication as to how best to navigate and adapt through the changes in a manner that is as timely and as transparent as possible.

I will be out of the (home) office tomorrow (Friday 10/16) as I am traveling with my family to visit my Daughter in Eastern Washington. I won't be able to respond as much the next few days as I have the last two, but I will be checking in as often as I can and I will get back to you with any updates or answers that are needed as soon as possible. Your patience is appreciated in advance.

Sincerely,

Mat Hayward
thanks Mat. You've been put into a terrible position here, having to defend something that we all know is a bad idea, at least from a contributor's perspective. It's great that you've been brave enough to spend so much time here today. :)

I just went on the Adobe Free section. I went through about 1000 images... 99% of these images are model/people images. Very good model/people images. If you shot models I would guess your sales will go to zero in the future. It will be interesting to see if Adobe adds more diversity to this collection with different types of images. One of the big contributors was  Rawpixel.com. I do not know this photo house but very heavy on the typical stock model picture. Typical but very good images.

If you want to take a look at the major contributors to the free section - and I agree that for the most part the content is excellent - I made a list of links yesterday.

thanks for this Jo! yes, very interesting to see some really great work, and some of it is average, but imho clients don't have quite the same standards as photographers. average photos that are free will still "outsell" (eek) a superior image that costs $$.

Please, all stock agencies, stop doing stupid experiments.

With 70,000 free premium photos, any topic is covered.

Actually this isn't true, I've had a look and a few of my niche areas aren't covered so that's a relief.

the rest of the world might raise an eyebrow at this claim, and perhaps offer up some alternative candidates for this title. but then again, when americans say "world" they mean themselves.... ;)

sorry for your loss, by all accounts she was an incredible woman.

. Reason I won't leave is because I already did the hard parts, taking photos, uploading and adding the details.

Right, Alamy is slow, and the returns are lower. Minimum is $50? This year I have one sale for $19.99 and they owe me $9 and change. This could be the first year I don't make payout from Alamy. But I've never had a year where I made more on DT than Alamy. I'll also agree that the $3.38 sales for $1.69 (2019 sales) is disappointing. But last sale on DT was $2 in May. Obviously neither one is anything special?  ;)

same, we've already done the work. i've got a small port there of about 1k bits of random stuff, but i'm ok to just let it stew. hardly make any sales. and hardly ever upload.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Anyone use Mavic Mini for stock?

bestravel video, Thank you very much I will try find some raw footage, I know it was not the best just want something acceptable

gillian vann, thank you also

i found the first Mavic to be pretty dodgy, and Stocksy declined a lot of it. i happily upgraded. but still, it's a camera that flies!  they compare the quality to people who hung out of choppers with DSLRs....  it's not quite fair.

Stocksy are VERY picky over Mavic pro footage, and i was very frustrated with the quality too, so for both those reasons i sold my first drone to upgrade. I also get a lot of declines from my Osmo. at stocksy, nowhere else of course. only stocksy and adobe premium are super crazy nitpicky, in my experience. i think everywhere else is fine. a camera that flies is a marvel!

Im sorry things got a bit hot and that you decided to leave and I can just wish you the best.
He said last week that he was going to leave here very soon.

I only pop in here from time to time so missed this bit of drama.

Can anyone explain the "I don't get 10 cents.  got a raise today from SS." bit?

byron dont listen to rinder the old fool, he has no real interest in your portfolio all he wants to do is  just see the comment from martha as an example and she is supposed to be a sweet old lady

I am a sweet old lady!

The fact that I hang out with this group proves my sweetness, doesn't it?

And my old age is obvious from my photo.

 :D ;D :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-X :-\ :-* :'( :) ??? :( :-X :-*

haha, I was sweet, and after hanging out here for a few years I'm a Cranky Old Crone.  ;D ;D
my photo is at least 10 years old, taken on the good side of 40.

I tried once and was rejected. Will not try again and I don't feel the urge to be somewhere where I'm not welcome. They will simply not have my work and that's fine.
i've been rejected by Offset TWICE, I don't have that attitude. I also don't have enough content to offer them as i have 2 other premium sites to contribute to, so it's a moot point right now,  but I would still be happy to be able to submit there.

I had to double check this was 2020, I didn't realise people were taking international holidays. us Aussies aren't allowed to do this. We can't even cross the border into neighbouring states!

Glad you had a great time and your wife is such a good sport!

Whenever I trawl through those and see them selling at over 300 dollars a pop (not at Pexels/Unsplash of course), I feel hopelessly out of place in the market because I like to make my pictures look clean and right.

Life is too short to be bored or boring no matter how popular that look may be.

Shooting naturally light, bright images makes me happy. Seeking out and photographing free, unfettered birds and other wild critters in their natural habitats is a challenge that I love.

Those buyers who want drab, brown, imprisoned-wildlife photography will just have to go to Stocksy.

Sad.  :(

not all of us shoot like that. I too shoot light, bright and happy!  There's plenty of amazing work in the collection. i'm not disagreeing and not going to defend all the images, i've seen some stuff that upsets me too, but I don't shoot like that and I've got a large portfolio. I'm happy to be with Stocksy.
