Shutterstock.com / Sharing Buyer private info?
« on: October 26, 2015, 14:32 »
I have a question for Shutterstock. If I buy an image from Shutterstock can Shutterstock share my info, and if so why, how and what info?

28
I do not believe it is humanly possible by one person on Shutterstock alone without special considerations for search advantages. If it where possible I'd say at least 50,000-60,000 images and that person would have to be uploading 500 new images weekly.

29
My Shutterstock is making about the same as my 123rf or Canstockphoto for me. Shutterstock having a score of 100+...... really....maybe in 2007.

30
The question is what comes next?

For me personally...Easy fast uploading, good fast reviews and great sales!

« on: December 13, 2013, 08:37 »
Well, one year ago I had 99.9999% approval rate on SS with 4500+ vectors. Then suddenly I could get nothing approved.  All different reasons. After about 2 months and only getting a couple items up I just stop uploading onto SS. I starting thinking this week that the problems with the SS reviews may have got better...but after seeing this thread ...why try.  It seems sad nothing has changed. I have 300+ good selling vector files not on SS now. It is a shame things seem the same. This thread makes me sad.

Seems daft to not upload them, if they get rejected so what. The only one you are hurting by not uploading is potentially yourself. You never know, what if they all get accepted? They might never sell, or they might become your bestsellers on SS.

Thanks been a Microstock artist for 7 years now. Good luck :)

A massive sudden slowdown for me on Shutterstock this Nov....but there is still a lot of Nov :)

I'm impressed with SS. My sales have been very steady on SS the last couple months. After 7 years with Shutterstock I'm looking forward to year 8,9 and 10+.
Great job SS and keep up the great work!

My wife and I are long time (7+ years) unhappy contributors at IS. We stopped uploading a couple months ago. Now after this we are seriously thinking of leaving IS altogether. I'm not sure what the plan is. I'm not sure they know the plan.

The very worst thing in the business world ....is a non-paying company. We do not trust IS. We can't work with a company we can not trust.

I'm not sure what happened to 123 but after 2 years of growth my sales are about 80% :o lower then normal on 123 this month. I even woke up to -4.90  :o this morning. I can't help but think these problem messed things up on 123....or maybe like everyone has been telling me 123 is just not that good. 123 is my lowest earner so far this month......lowest by far.

Not paying people is very serious.

I'm thinking they will pay May and June at the same time this month.

I won't be complaining about it in a forum, while in another browser window I'm simultaneously uploading my next batch to the hated behemoth and saying my prayers for 100% acceptance.

I have stopped uploading to SS and all other agencies. But not because of what is being discussed here.

So in your example WalMart goes shopping for coca cola elsewhere if the price coca cola sets is too high. lol

This is not about coca cola, your example was flawed. Thats all.

So you've decided that microstock isn't worth your time and have stopped uploading.  But getting into debates in a forum focused on the activity you have sworn off is a good use of your time?  You can bet Jon Oringer didn't get where he is with that kind of work ethic.

Bingo!
Bingo? I am setting up my own stock site, thats the reason.  I am doing something about it. I am getting off my arse and try and change something for the better.

Congrats, You should! I've been running my own site for 7 very profitable years. It is well worth the time.

So..... after not uploading on SS for many weeks I decided to upload a single cow vector. It got reviewed fast (If you call it reviewed) but rejected for this reason. "Similar Submissions--Too many of the same subject. Please see Shutterbuzz for more info"  Does this mean I can never do another cow on SS ever again in my whole life...ever ever never ever again even if it is the best vector cow in the world? I could understand if I just submitted a batch of 50 photos of the very same cow....but a single vector art cow submitted alone?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Is there any future for Istock?
« on: June 12, 2013, 10:59 »
I feel the world of microstock is flattening (which is a great thing). In the end there will be 5-6 sites that make contributors all about the same amount of money. I'm very excited by that idea and I'm seeing it now with my images. My income is stable because of this flattening between the sites. At some point every contributor will start feeling this same effect...newer the contributor the less flattened the market is for that contributor but in time the market will flatten.........at first it will seem bad..."oh no the sky is falling SS or IS is slowing"...but no everything will flatten to become a more stable steady market place for everyone........ :)

I think the IS management may.... each morning role an idea dice.....whatever is rolled is the new direction IS will take that day.
