Isn't the timing interesting, just a few weeks to go before everybody goes to Tier1 earnings?

Why wasn't he notified a year ago?

Seems like they are trying to anticipate the huge public criticism they will soon receive by using a scapegoat to warn others.

Why only him?

Maybe they wanted to set him as an example, so others becomes alert.

Their own forum is full of posts from people, reporting earnings. There are all kinds of others, who have for years, posted earnings on blogs and their websites. There are others still on YouTube that are posting videos of their SS earnings. The source of this video which now has over 1,200 views, still has his earnings from SS posted.

Maybe there's something else going on, that we aren't being told by Arindam?

Warning? Doesn't seem to be working?

Interesting they seem to be spending more resources making sure people don't publish earnings than they do with stolen portfolios.

They are? Do you have inside information on that? Lets see, one claim that his account was shut down, which it isn't, and his videos (he claims he deleted) are not removed, and on a subscription monetized YouTube channel, vs a whole agency and an attack from outside, where people steal and resell images. Really?

Seems like everyone would rather ignore the facts and come up with some kind of spin, which attacks SS for something, that apparently is not being described honestly. AKA an unfounded claim, which is now some kind of conspiracy or action by SS. Does anyone ever take the time to question claims from people who have a personal agenda, like hate SS and attack SS? Especially on YouTube?  ;D

No one monitors for fake stories or misinformation.

ISO is totally FAKE.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVuI89YWAsw  300K views for ad money. Of course now some people will believe him, that ISO is fake?

I watched this video yesterday.

https://youtu.be/Dfqp9xD188A

"This video tells you about the outcome what can happen if you disclose your stock photography earnings publicly. Even sharing screenshots or writing about your earning in any post or blog is a violation of Shutterstock terms of service and will get your account banned!"

Has any also experienced account disabling for this reason?

https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/101281-november-sales/#comments

November Earnings Thread on the SS forum. How many DLs and the total earnings, pages long. No one banned or locked or warned.

I'd be suspicious of the YouTube guy, but I know people here will just decide SS is evil and condemn them.

You're no fun. I'd rather imagine bad intentions or a under handed trick.

While the first rule of Fight Club may be that you don't talk about Fight Club... I'm assuming you can talk about Fight Club when you're at Fight Club.

This is what they don't want others to see on a weekday.

Port = 10,660 images / 1,127 clips

Why would they spend any resources on stolen ports? It's something that generates income, they stopped caring about that years ago.

Yeah, that's a good one.  8)

No one has come up with any answer to, why only him, why did Adobe close his account, which isn't closed? And if he's banned at SS why is his account actually active. Just a bit many convoluted contradictions in what he's saying and what's actually current.

And then, I don't post videos to YouTube with my earnings and don't post them on forums, even SS forum  ;) , so actually this warning is kind of wasted on me or anyone else who doesn't do this kind of thing?

Going with your fight club analogy, people still post on blogs, other people on FB and YT and MSG and their own sites, and only this one poor soul has been targeted, for his simple and innocent violation of the rules.

I'll drop this, but one more note, it's in the TOS that we can't post earnings, so who's at fault here? SS for enforcing the contract and TOS that we all agreed with, or the person violating the contract? Why of course it's SS because they are the evil corporation. How dare they enforce the TOS that we all agreed with, when we started as a contributor.

I never understood the logic of sharing of how much you make. You only make yourself bait for those who would just love to break into your account.  :-X

If I was to list my top 10 best sellers, I'm sure it is only human nature for people to want to copy them.
And then they will eventually cease to be my best sellers,

One tiny edit, is that this wasn't in the TOS when I signed up. I don't remember when they added it, but it was one of their "take it or leave" changes to the TOS as they went from somewhat contributor friendly and an ok place to sell images to what they are now.

They introduced it around the time of their IPO - I believe it was to avoid information about their earnings being made visible to some investors and not to all.

This is far from a secret!  you can sometimes hear people mocking SS in loads of forums among them Mac forum DPR and over at the Adobe forum. Haha! if they are such cretins they imagine that 10c for a picture sale dont spread worldwide WELL then they are truly brainless!

OR just as likely, steal the actual images and reupload as themselves to sell with little or no alternation.

There is no way you could ever get everyone in the world to boycott SS, that's absurd.

What makes an Agency is not the contributors but the buyers!
