Guessing Shutterstock jumped the gun...

https://www.shutterstock.com/unlimited now has a 404.  Anyone screenshot it before it went?

Yes, it's 404. But, the link "Get Unlimited Downloads" in the top right corner is still working...
Also, this one:
https://www.shutterstock.com/pricing

... Why anyone would subscribe if he can get a lot more from envato elements for the same price? (psd files, graphic templates, Ae templates, Pr.....)

Now I see that Shutterstock has reduced the number of my videos available with an unlimited subscription. About 3 times.

This is not clear. It is not clear where to see how many of my videos are now included in the unlimited subscription.

It's strange that getty allowed shutterstock to do this.

Getty has no say. Nothing has been signed. The way it's looking I can see them pulling out as they're offering way over the odds for a company that may not exist in a year or 2.
Waiting to pick off the carcass seems more sensible.

That's ridiculous to say nothing has been signed. These deals are on paper before they are announced. They don't just change their minds. They entered into a definitive merger agreement to combine.

Looks like I'm safe for now. I don't see this program in the licensing options in my account page. I didn't get the e-mail either. I hope I can stay out of it for good (wishful thinking on my part.)

Anyone who has been accepted can deactivate this offer in their account.

Nothing has been finalised, nothing has been side, regulators havent even begun to start.  There'll also be get out clauses for unforseen changes to the business conditions.

They've agreed to a deal in principle.  Thats it.  Plenty fall through after this stage.

I think investors aren't too confident in Getty as the partner. SSTK is up to $16.50 now, but right after the dividend was paid for SSTK, the stock took a dive.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/getty-images-shutterstock-receive-second-211500894.html

Getty Images and Shutterstock intend to continue working cooperatively with the DOJ and other non-US regulators to obtain regulatory clearance for the proposed merger as expeditiously as possible. The proposed transaction remains subject to Shutterstock stockholder approval as well as other customary closing conditions.

Both parties continue to expect the transaction to close in the second half of 2025.

I didn't expect this to happen as fast as some other people predicted. We might be looking at October or later, before the deal becomes official and then it will take time for changes to the structure of the business.

I don't think it's dead yet?

"The plan comes with unlimited downloads, but in order to be able to fairly pay Contributors for your use of their original Content, we limit daily downloads to 100 assets."

Either this restriction only applies to photos, or to videos as well.
I don't think such a restriction is good for authors. There are no restrictions on other similar sites.

A large number of authors and a large amount of content, as if the income of authors from this subscription would not be blurred. In this case, I will have to refuse sales under such a subscription.

I have an Envato Elements account but it's photos and videos libraries are inferior to Shutterstock's.
AE templates and motion graphics templates are what makes Envato somewhat worth it.

At 100/day "unlimited" downloads and 50% of $20 per month splits out to as low as about 1/3 of a cent per download for the contributor. Now that is exciting news, especially if it is for video.

.38 per download was pretty good, in fact over 100 times better.

Yea. For now. But we don't know if the 'opt out' option will be removed in the future.

It'll have to be.  This new offering undercuts all their existing sub offerings and the license allowances also mean theres little need to ever buy anything more expensive.

The fact the default filter appeared and auto selected unlimited only shows where they want to push this.  My guess is it'll be done over a 12 month period where renewals no longer offer old versions.

They may still offer an "opt out" but as this effectively hides your content from buyers its unviable.

Its made it to my region desktop now.

So it seems now ALL searches on Shutterstock from buyers now default to "unlimited only" so hide anyone not included or opted in from being sold EVEN IF THEY BUYER HAS ANOTHER ACCOUNT OR NO ACCOUNT.  A buyer wont notice, they'd need to see the little "1 filter applied" message and be bothered enough to click filters, work out whats wrong and turn it off.  Most wont bother.

I notice they havent bothered telling any contributors about this change.

To recap, for a buyer to see everyones content now they have to

(i) run a search
(ii) change from "Highlights" to "All images" (which isnt all images.  Its misleading)
(iii) Notice the "Filter applied: 1" box
(iv) click that box
(v) scroll down
(vi) select "All images" in the filter list

That simply isnt going to happen.

My gosh, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse for the stock industry. SS always finds new ways to screw us over.

Just received the customer email for unlimited DLs from 50 million assets.

Is this like the final gasps of a dying person?

Wondering if anybody who is in for this model would like to share the earnings or they are available only by the end of the month?

According to the email it doesnt go live until next month but looks like they lied about that.
Given the revenue share model they mentioned i dont see how they can do anything other than declare it monthly once they know how much it brought in during that period.  I can see an IS style 2 month lag while payments are calcuated.

I just did a search for some of my files on the buyers site. No results found. However, a message came up saying that there may have been some filters affecting the search. All I had to do was a single action (one mouse click) to deactivate the filters and then my files appeared in the search results.

100 a day is a joke if SS calls that a restriction.

SS lied to us and you're surprised. I thought you just said, the program was over. What will you be saying tomorrow? I think you're right about the delayed reporting, there's no way to calculate the unlimited until the month is over.

I cant see any way without going from highlights to all images then to filter.

Regardless, buyers wont bother.  They'll see enough displayed without more hoops to jump through.  Most will just select the first hits on the first page as always.  They're not going to go out of their way.  Most wont even understand or know its been blocked to them.

Yes, but if you do a new search then the filter is automatically reinstated (so you see unlimited only). For each search you have to disable that filter. At least it seems that way.

It is logical to assume that SS decided to attract buyers who buy subscriptions to storybloks and Envato. This is the right and logical move. Those who need to buy videos for a lot of money will continue to make such purchases anyway. On the other hand, SS has already bought Envato.
