It pains me to say it because they are my biggest earner, but Shutterstock is really dragging its heels getting all the contributor side bugs sorted out.

I can't upload anything new today because I keep getting errors, and have had several other bugs (no data import, submit queue incorrect, submissions bouncing back to queue etc.) ongoing for weeks.

It's a real shame, this would be bad for any site, but as they are usually so go good I have to grade them harder and say it is making them look like a bunch of clowns. Not good.

I think most of the problems are to do with vector uploads. There are a lots of people complaining about it on their forums.

Uploading photos/illustrations (raster) - no problems here. Review time less than 24 hrs. YAY!

Good to hear things are working on the photo/ raster illustration side of things.

I hope they can pull their finger out and get this sorted for the vector guys too. It has literally been over a month since I reported the first bug, and not only has that not been fixed, there are now a couple more and far more serious problems. The latest making uploading impossible.

I'm seeing inconsistent sales reporting between the figure shown on the top right for earnings, the sales shown in the earnings summary, and the latest sales shown on the map. It's as if the three databases are fighting :)

I'm seeing NOTHING.  No activity since yesterday afternoon.  I hope it's a bug; and just on contributor side.  Hopefully, buyers are buying?

Yes they are. Frantically. :)

I cannot get on the Shutterstock customer (as opposed to submitter) home page using Firefox. I get this message:
"Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit."

And yeah, the vector submission process will not read the metadata in the JPGs. I submitted a couple Monday pasting the descrip and keywords by hand, and they have still not been reviewed.

My sales are way down this week.

Hope SS gets things worked out before school starts back and microstock sales begin to pick up for the Fall.  :P

I sent an email to support. Same problem. Vector only. I've reuploaded and submitted a few images 3 times now. One time SS support asked me to reupload. Seems to separate the JPG from EPS. My review times are now about 10 days.

+1

I do only vectors, and for my last batch I had to pay someone to manually copy and paste the data manually as IPTC are not getting read at all, and it has been like this for several weeks. It is a pain. Hoping this will be fixed when I come back from vacation!! :P

In case you hadn't noticed there has been about a 3 week lag on the 'keywords used' being updated in the SS Darkroom. I was particularly concerned that it may be preventing new images being accorded their promotion within the sort ranking (with the keyword not registering). Some of my images had 10+ sales without any of the keywords used being listed. Anyway that appears to have been rectified as of today and the information updated from when the images were first sold.

Microbius didn't say it was "vectors" in his opening post so it caused some confusion..

Shutterstock's VECTOR UPLOAD (let's make it clear) is messed up and problems have been going on for about a month now.. Photos are fine, just fine :)

It's vector upload that has been driving me crazy since the start of July.. I was surprised nobody has mentioned it / started a thread before..

I hadn't realized when I started the thread that it was only vectors that were having the problems, sorry for not making that clearer.

Not too sure about that, Microbius.  Something has gone awry with my sales, I tried to upload and got an error.  So buggy is probably right.  I'm now sitting on 30 studio produced images and then whatever I shoot today and tomorrow.  I'll just keep building a pipeline of images until they are back up and running.

New day new bug, but a slightly less problematic one. Now when I submit a vector the data imports correctly from the accompanying jpeg (yes!) and I can submit the vector without an error (double yes!!!) but I end up with a duplicate raster version of the same illustration sitting in my submit section along with the 50 odd ones that appeared with a previous bug. Oh well, I guess I will just ignore all those and wait for them to be deleted when their 21 days are up, at least my work is getting through now. How's everyone else getting on, any changes?

Today's bug, thumbnails not generating for some raster illustrations (just getting a broken link for some uploads), I have tried repeatedly which has worked for some files and not others. I have been reading the SS bug forum and it looks like all the bugs I am getting have been experienced by multiple users lately, what is the delay in getting the contributor side working?

"WARNING We couldn't read the following files, so they were ignored. If you're using a special image format, try using a standard one like JPEG, TIFF, or EPS. If that's not the problem, make sure your files end with a standard extension like .jpg, .tif, or .eps."

ETA okay, last one went through on about the tenth attempt. Not good enough, get this fixed

Are you using FTP or on site?

FTP seems buggy (slow transfer and no thumbs) lately so I'm using the new on site UL which works bug-free here, pretty fast too.

Good luck though  :-\

Nope using the on site upload. I gave up on ftp a while ago because it was taking a lot longer for the files to appear in the to be submitted section.

I wish they had never started fooling with the upload system, I can't think that I ever had a problem with it until the last couple of months, now there seem to be so many bugs, and just when you  think one problem is solved another one comes up.

I now have 40 odd files in my to be submitted section, which are in turn reported as being over 100 on the contributor dashboard page, and there should really be zero there.

It just doesn't look professional for the market leader to not be able to get these things sorted in such a long a amount of time. It is also galling/ infuriating to receive the same email whenever you report a bug, with text that seems to indicate they haven't even read your email. Especially when it promises to have the bug fixed soon and you get the same reply many weeks apart.

I don't know why they had coders working on changing the look of the contributor side before they have ironed out these things.

I seem to be having issues with vector files saved from Illustrator CS6 (saved as eps 8).

If I save them from CS4, they upload fine.

I would encourage everyone to review their portfolio with SS. I discovered today that many of my images had the same description/title/caption. A shot of a farm landscape that I took was found when you typed "small bridge construction" in the SS search box (or something to that effect). 10 of my approved images had the same description/title/caption and they were totally different images.

I also noticed many of my images/videos no longer have titles and or descriptions. I've contacted SS today but I would encourage you all to review your approved images with SS.

I'm a Windows user.
