Or is it just me?
-
Not just you. It's down.
-
I went in to my earnings page through my history and brought it up - after that, the buyer's side came up straight away when I tried going in that way.
-
Not been down for me.
-
My sales today are 3x normal, I figured something was up.
-
I get in to my submit.shutterstock site just fine.
But not when I go to the main URL... http://www.shutterstock.com/home.mhtml (http://www.shutterstock.com/home.mhtml) .

No, your link doesn't work. This one seems to http://www.shutterstock.com/ (http://www.shutterstock.com/)
-
You're right. I copied and pasted it wrong. That's good news! Better a goof on my part than on SS's part!
Thanks.

If you want to know if a site is down or not you can use
http://www.websitedown.info/ (http://www.websitedown.info/)
It will tell you if the site is working.
It will not work with the specific page addresses but if the main (domain) address is not down you can suppose that the whole site is working. So if your link does not work you can suppose that it is not correct.

Yeah it works and shows that SS is down.
The connection has timed out
The server at submit.shutterstock.com is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

So is BigStock.
-
Its down for me, I was uploading footage via FTP and FTP connection went down as well. Everything is down.

That's why I came here. That site kept telling me it was up.
It's just you. http://shutterstock.com (http://shutterstock.com) is up.
Figured maybe it was a dns problem.
Just in time for my nightly ftp session too

Down for me too.
-
I'm hoping its down where the servers just can't cope with all the EL's I've sold today, maybe!
-
My Shutterstock's Space Ships left orbit without telling us? ;)
-
It's down for me, too - both the retail site and the contributor site. :'(
-
Do you think that maybe they linked to the same servers that run the Obamacare site? :-X
-
Its back up, well, very slow and with 500 Internal Server Error errors
-
Which becomes annoying due to repetitive captcha logins
-

Whaa-hay!

Do you think that maybe they linked to the same servers that run the Obamacare site? :-X
No __ my guess is that the Istock 'development team' were there for a look & learn session and somehow got accidental access to the SS network.

So is BigStock.
Wonder what coordinated program SS and BS are about to launch? Bridge to BS for everyone?
Nope.
Already asked them this earlier this year and they said it is done and it will not be for anyone else, those who got invited were it and no one else at any time now or in the future.

And now.

Hey, let's plug the Shutterstock, BigStockPhoto, and Offset servers in the same outlet as our Christmas tree and see what happens.

Craptastic sales this weekend and I have not been able to reach either shutterstock.com or submit.shutterstock.com for over 4 hours.

Still down 7PM CST I thought it was my rural connection and bad internet, until I discovered every other site was working fine. :(
Not just you. It's down.
-
BigStock partially back up, but no connection to database or stats. Also no FTP
-
I don't know if it's up or down and I don't care because I'm not doing that [expletive] captcha one more [expletive] time today.

Sites do not go down for hours if they are not having serious issues. Once again, this was not planned downtime.
SS when are you going to finally address these long term stability issues which are costing your contributors money!
-
I haven't been online all day, but just signed in to SS with no difficulty this evening about 8:30pm EST. All appears normal now, and sales typical for a Sunday.
BigStock is still down AFAIK.
I really hope whatever they're cooking up will not be an unpleasant surprise for contributors.
Wouldn't it be lovely if they are just implementing site improvements that will A)be done correctly and over by start of business monday, and B)improve the buyer experience and lead to more sales for us...
-
Warp Drives are back on line Captain- the customer side in now fully functional!

What, and teach them to say "We are working to get things back in working order as soon as possible. Please remain patient during this time."? I think they know that line already.

Its down again.

SS back down again

I cant wait to get in and see mine, I know I had more sales then what I normal wake up to. But I havent been able to take a peek since then. The mobile site is not working either.
-
it is taking too long but at least buyer side is fine!
-
Weird...I can get in on my iPad, but not my laptop. My earnings summary is not keeping up with the actual downloads. My sales are up big time. I took screenshots to make sure it's not a dream. New search algorithm?

It may be best not to get too excited about things that the site is showing while it is going wrong.
-
Down since the last 12 hours.
:-(

0700 PST in Seattle WA site is completely down...
-
the buyer side appears to be operational thus we are getting sales - just cannot see the stats...

Thus the chain image, they don't want us to know just how mangled and defective the site has become.
Should have invested in keeping the site in good working order over the years instead of a posh New York Business address.

Yeah, maybe they should get out of New York and go someplace less expensive. Calgary, perhaps?
As for the mangled and defective website, if that's the reason my sales are 50% higher this month than any month before, then I say, mangle it some more. :)

Let's just hope that the contributors side is recording them! Would be nice to know what's gone wrong and when it's likely to be back up.

Your increased sales may have come at the expense of other contributors. I guess you missed the threads on SS that detailed the SS buyer side showing searches with blank or invisible images for some contributors in various parts of the world. I guarantee they are not so happy about their own lack of sales in those regions. Buyers can not buy what they can not see.

So it is still down :( :( :( :(
Last post from Ron at 10:08am and nothing since then :( :( :( :(

Today so far is one of my best days in a while. Site is up you just can't go to http://submit.shutterstock.com (http://submit.shutterstock.com) instead go to https://submit.shutterstock.com (https://submit.shutterstock.com) . Go ahead and log in and you will get the chain again as it brings you back to the standard http version of the site. change it once again to https:// and you are good to go and can check your stats.
-
^works for me too. Unfortunately, no big boost in sales that others are seeing :(
BigStock is working now too.

I am seeing the opposite. The weekend is drastically down over normal and not one sale for 36 hours.

Stills doesn't work here. Let's me log in via https but then show the chain again.
-
^works for me too. Unfortunately, no big boost in sales that others are seeing :(
Yeah, my sales are horrendous if that is giving up-to-date info - nothing sold in the last nine or ten hours.
-
same here! Only 3 sales for .36 heck even Fotolia has 6 sales for about $5
-
Stills doesn't work here. Let's me log in via https but then show the chain again.
Yup you will get the chain one more time after you log in. Once you do that change it over to https:// again and you will get in. You have to change the site to https to first get to the login page and then change it again to https after logging in and getting the chain.
If you are wanting to upload files guys I'm not sure where it will go or how well it will work but at least you can see your sales.
Also a couple quirks. Doesn't seem to be updating the statistics page for me. I have to go in to the actual date to see the images that sold and there are a lot more images showing then the just general over all day by day stats. that and the total earnings hasn't updated yet either.
-

If they wanted to block people they would disable both URLs dont you think?
I think they switched over to a secure connection and the URLs havent been updated or the routing doesnt work. HTTP = unsecure HTTPS = secure
-
Maybe they want to get rid of it after having 30 million photos in their archives :-)
Here is an idea. They should accept new contributors only through BigStock and if they prove themselves let them smoothly transfer their portfolio to Shutterstock.

Put HTTPS:// in front of the URL and it will work, at least its working for me, still.
SS has stated that they disabled the contributor site to help speed things up on the buyer side. Seems counter-productive to circumvent the disabling, you're only making it harder for buyers to get to the site and get their images.
-
The https thing worked. I have regular Monday sales.

I think they will keep the majority out and they did not count on contributors finding a back door. I bet they are so happy you found a way in.
They have bigger things to worry about right now, the site just imploded. Time to pull out the Duct Tape and Baling Twine AGAIN.

Yes it is. I am moving elsewhere. They boast about all the millions of images and can not even get it to work properly. What a complete fiasco.

By the way I don't buy their story about site traffic, I think it is more damage control for continued errors that they know will be visible.

@ShutterstockReq follow on Twitter for updates. Not that it's anything more than "soon" at least it leaves the SS servers out of it.
For anyone who wants to see the pages, without going to the trouble of pinging the SS servers, here's what we get currently on the contributor pages. Hosted off site.

Man... that annoying captcha.... does it bother anyone else that now they have switched to entering numbers (I was becoming quite accustomed to the freakish words) and one set of numbers appear to be photographs of the numbers on front door and above people's garages?

The forum junkies must be writhing around on the floor making popping noises by now.
Here's hoping the thing will be back by the time I've had my cornflakes and with bumper sales on the board.
-
Based on my sales today, I think all the other sites must be down too. >:(
-
With the $96 SOD I can't stay mad at you Shutterstock. Apologies accepted ;)
-
sweet on the $96 SOD! ;)

You only need the long number

But why are they registering people's homes? Google Streetview?

I wonder if the backlog of uploads (once they get it fixed) will make the inspectors more or less picky. My guess would be: mass reject button=backlog magically gone.
-
or mass acceptance ;)
-
Riffmax have you clicked the actual date yet?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Ooh - thanks. That did it. Showing a few sales - one even of a shot just accepted on Saturday. Will be curious to see what happens when the dust settles.
-
Still down in uk after trying all links. I got through earlier to see no sales but now cant get in at all.
-
This may help. Only enter the numbers, ignore the photo. You'll go right in. I stopped typing the obvious word, months ago, but didn't want to get into some long debate.
Just enter the numbers.

Yep, same here. having an unusually good day at FT with all dl's and no subs. ;D
Here is your solution -- quit or shut down all sub sites!

It's up and normal sales for me :)
-
Sales were good, but totals not synching. Per home page, I hadn't sold anything today. Drill to the summary and I only sold 1 image. Open the day, and all sales are listed as normal.

same here

It isn't all synched up, but if they are eventually I am quite pleased with the day, since it totaled more than the rather lackluster previous week (due mostly to one big SOD sale)
I hope they manage to get everything back working properly without too much trouble though.

Hi Soren,
It's showing up for all of us here - you may want to close out of whatever sessions you have running and try again. Let us know.
Best,

It appears to be operational except the totals not reflecting - probably just a matter of an hour or less to see if it updates the totals...Thanks

When the site came back up, my stats for November 18th were the same as when I went to bed on Sunday night, but sometime in the last hour or two they updated and Monday was a decent day. I see a couple of sales already for the 19th, so it appears things are updating as they usually do

The site is still down. :(

It's working for me, is your computer reading its cache?

Some downloads from yesterday are not reflected in my total earnings yet, even though today's downloads already show up on monthly totals..
This means things are not fully fixed.. I will have to contact support if the issue is not fixed in the next few hours..

I'm not seeing any dls today which might just be bad luck but is extremely unusual for me at this time of day. [one's turned up now, so either it's slow for me today or the site has a backlog of data to process]
-
I had my best day of November yesterday in downloads, on Shutterstock. Earnings above normal.

The contributors' side has been taken off-line again ... with a different picture this time.

Still up for me Joe

Thank you Scott,
There has been no update on SS regarding ports that have images that are not showing up in different regions of the world.
Can you give us an update for this issue and have you found the reason this has been occurring and found a way to fix it?

I think you'd be better starting a new topic instead of tagging it onto an already long thread about the site being down.

Now you have to do the captcha to get to the error page. So at least it's secure. :)
-
I can get into it on a normal link now but my sales today are flat :(
-
sales are coming thur now thus recheck ....

And i havent been paid this month either. Over the threshold to be paid.

I get the captcha at least two times a day.
And there is several days that my images are not reviewed.
Are review times normal for other users?

Sometimes I get an error page, then refresh the browser and get the earnings page.
But captcha fatigue has set in. I just got the captcha demand again, and couldn't do it. I closed the browser tab and moved on. This is a good thing as it will stop me from checking my earnings page 10 times a day.

With respect, bug threads like this on Shutterstock should be a wake up call for Shutterstock support. The problem for one contributor has not been solved and it is clear from the questions admin is asking that they did not read the thread. As a consequence shutterstock support has not been able to solve the problem nor understand the issue.
Both of the people reporting bugs in that thread have reported the problem to support who told them that it was a client side browser issue. Support did not address the problem and left it up to contributors to help each other find out what regions of the world the images were not showing up broken in.
Contributors were forced to do the job that support should have done because you left them no other recourse if they wanted the images to be available for buyers to purchase on Shutterstock.
In addition you have other contributors in that thread who have reported other serious bugs to support with no resolution.
I would say Shutterstock contributors receive a much better response if we post our issues here on Microstock Group.
