well, one 105 dollar sale will certainly bring up the average return per download for video.

Take the rough with the smooth, I guess...

Haha! I laughed at the contrast between the two sales! But congrats on the large one!

Was it filmed from a drone?

Yes.
To fly a drone over cities, do you get some kind of permission or can anyone fly? How much money does it cost to get a permit?

That depends entirely on where you are in the world and potentially how heavy your drone is. Answers range from no to yes depending on that.

What the point for buyer to pay $174 for photo on SS, when they can buy it for 10 cents?

This video was paid for.
Although videos can also be bought inexpensively.

every time i see one of these in this tread i think it's a plant.  so far this month i have a bunch of videos sold along with images on adobe totaling over $50 while SS hasn't cracked the $4 mark.  exactly 0 videos sold and a handful of dimes in image sales.  i would stop uploading if not for the keywording lookup that i then port over to other sites (though even that doesn't work as well as it used to).

Shutterstock is really beginning to struggle with both downloads and earnings. Even with a $123.90 sale earlier in November on Shutterstock, Adobe Stock is 21% ahead in earnings and 52% ahead in downloads.

SS is almost dead!  I haven't had a sale for several days.
There is no point in making comparisons between AS and SS... At least in my case there is a huuuge difference.

I think Jo Ann Snover said it best when commenting on the Shutterstock download number downtrend thread...

... there's only so far you can grow a business by looting your suppliers.

I have the same experience with SS. I was doing great till the end of September. Then downloads and earnings suddenly declined significantly and that has been continued into November. Something has happened. Is it a major change to the algorithm or is it something else?

Fortunately, AS continues to sell although the review process remains painful.

I do and sometimes I don't upload them, I just use the free keywording tool.

I can't confirm this for myself, my income situation was relatively constant in this period.
However, I have to admit that with over 1000 uploads I would have expected an increase over the year, especially as the new pictures are doing quite well.

same here, 3 mo running average stable over last 3 years. RPD $.6 to .8

and still 2-3x AS income

Can confirm that too. Same RPD range, same relation to Adobe income.

that's interesting... for the current month AS sales are 11x SS (in terms of $, though total downloads are also nearly double).  maybe it's the type of content?  age of portfolio?  i dunno but uploading to SS feels like a wasted of time if not for the keywording tool and because $.10 is $.10 more than $0.
