I only can upload 1 photo each time. When I select 5 images to upload it starts uploading but at the end nothing happens.

Has anyone noticed this?

When do they start ftp upload??????  >:(

Well, try three or four at a time. Five do not work for me either. But I am usually able to upload as many as four pictures at a time. I suspect it has something to do with the size of the pictures.
I wish they would start FTP though!

Tried 2 and nothing.

Do you upload as a set?

I upload both sets and single photos. Both work for me... You might want to contact their support.

I'm able to upload 5 at a time, but I have also very occasionaly had it were it would seemingly freeze up. SnapVillage is very aware that they need to improve their upload process and I'm sure its at their top of their list of things to do.

I open 10 tabs, then set each to 5 images, then go and hit submit on all ten and its happy (except it loses iptc on graphics, but photos ok).  But I am on a very fast link (university).

Another weird thing about Snapvillage for me is that whenever I want to login, I have to turn off my firewall.

yes, it timed out for me last night when i tried to upload 3 files. and i have highspeed.

another thing, there's no thumbnails of the shots uploaded and nothing to let you know if they are waiting to  be reviewed.
is that normal?  they are still on beta after all
i just joined last night. ???

I have pretty fast link and sometimes can upload all five, sometimes even one is problem. No firewall problems.

Yes you can see your pending photos - go to your portfolio and click pending, thats all. Though theres no direct way there from upload process, you must go thru your profile. The site could have a bit better "ergonomics/navigation" but I think its still much better then IS. In case they fix the upload method or allow ftp it could be pretty good. The navigation needs just little "cosmetic" upgrades to work properly.

If someone here has written about a problem at SV, I've had it. Last batch I had it time out and no uploads and the usual logged off while I was waiting for the files to upload, which they never did, just watched the little green bar at the bottom, moving, and it was doing nothing.

Don't worry about your browser. I've used Outlook (back when people told me it was the only one that worked), Sea Monkey and lately Mozilla Firefox. They all work and don't work the same.  >:(

I had problems with dropped wireless at the Radisson hotels, so I installed this on my laptop. It works! I haven't put it on a desktop because I can usually get uploads to work if I'm not running three or four computers online at the same time. (DSL)

Worth a try and it's free. Next time I'm uploading to SV and having problems, I'll just install it and see if it makes a difference.

(edit: I should add the link)
http://www.inklineglobal.com/products/sc/

But you are right. It sits and spins and uploads and nothing happens or you get disconnected from their server, or something else crazy happens. They need to get out of Beta and get the ftp working.

As far as IPTC data, it's hit and miss. Just like other things at SV. I can upload five files all done with Irfanview and three will have all the data, one will have just keywords and the other has nothing. No reason why it finds some and misses others.

Reviews are slowest in the business.

After that, I still have hopes for the site. I keep sending them things every week.

Have you noticed that, when going into the SV website, the login link is the very last item that appears on the page? A very small detail, but still soooooo annoying   :P

Yes, that is very annoying. It takes a good couple seconds for their stupid login window to load and show up for me too. Easily the worst microstock site I submit to in terms of usability.

As far as uploading.. I sent in a CD. Not going to even bother with their uploader until they at least have FTP.

Given its heritage, Snapvillage is either an example of incompetence or apathy, or (worse) is an insult to the intelligence and professionalism of microstock photographers.

I have been unable to upload anything for about two days. Is this a problem my end or are more of you experiencing that? ???

Of course you haven't been able to upload anything!! The site is run by Corbis Corpus monkey's - dead ones btw - and you won't be able to until the other dudes come back off holidays and turn the lights back on.

I haven't been able to upload for a few days now. I get thumbnail generation errors.

Works out ok, though. I was actually considering stopping uploads anyway, since I get no sales there. Now that uploads don't even work anymore, seems the decision was made for me. :)

I got this response from SV after emailing them that I won't be uploading any more until FTP and they get their "time out" problems fixed:

Hi Lou -

Thanks for the feedback.

We're hard at work on a total redesign of our upload system. Check back on our blog for more updates.
Thanks for your patience.

In the meantime, if you'd like - feel free to send your images in to us directly via CD, DVD or hard drive, and we'll take care of the uploading for you.

Regards,

Brian

I gave up too and sent them an email asking to be removed from their site.  Been 2 weeks now and no reply or removal.  Slackers if you ask me.  Looks like Corbis and Microsoft aren't paying to much attention to their little newborn baby of microstock.

Relax, all. They'll come out with a Beta 2 version as soon as their unemployment benefits run out.
