I have been asked by a friend who has some images of her craft studio ready for a web feature to re-size them.

Here are the requirements: The images need to be 144dpi and measure around 1000 pixels wide.

Ok, I can get the dpi set up in Lightroom but even cropping the image it still stays around the 3700 width. The only way I can get it nearer to 1000 is by downsizing it to around 1mp which reduces the quality or heavily cropping which isn't really an option. Is there another way I can do this as I can't think of any ?

Go into Lightroom, hit Export, scroll down to image size, chose Long Edge, set that to 1000 pixels and set dpi to 144 and Export and you're all set.
