URGENT!

HUGE BUG!

Leo, this needs urgent attention..

I did a test purchase and after returning from paypal to the site for download, the file was in the cart and had to refresh the page..

Refreshing the page made the file disappear and not only that but also erased all the previous sales made with that buyer account..

cidepix

I disabled the plugin for now..

the cart manager plugin shows these:

Warning: unserialize() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/content/83/6943183/html/cidepix2013/wp-content/plugins/ss-cart-manager/functions.php on line 246

I see the confusion.
This is an upgrade. The base theme (also upgraded) continues to be free.

Regarding a feature list, and even a string of help files - those are something I will be doing. But at this point I had to get things out there and running, then when its settled produce the help files (much like I did with the base theme before).

Regarding search, just to elaborate -

It searches keywords, compound words, and even word parts if you wish. Its everything people had asked for. In your "settings" area you can tweak things. You can even set your site to search content and title as well.

Edit - and the important features are mentioned on the product page.

Thanks, just went over and took a look.

And I still have questions.

Now that I know that there are two things going on 1) update to theme - 2.6 and 2) Premium Paid Plug-in, my question is:

It looks like the new batch editor, search, license management, twitter management and collections come with the $75 plug-in. Is this correct?

What was changed in the main theme? In other words, when I update from within wordpress to 2.6, what can I expect to change? What has been added/improved?

Those are exactly my questions too! This morning, when I first looked at what I'd paid for and downloaded last night, I thought I had installed it all. But getting back to it this evening after reading through this thread, I realize I just was looking at the "SS Pro" plugin in my system, not the 2.6 theme upgrade.

Just now, trying to upgrade that, I got this message:

"Updating this theme will lose any customizations you have made. 'Cancel' to stop, 'OK' to update."

Whew! I've spent weeks customizing my categories and main menu bar so... is this upgrade going to overwrite those? Will they survive or not? This is definitely not something I want to take a chance on.

Can somebody please tell me whether or not it's safe to upgrade to 2.6???  For now, I'm sitting tight with what was working for me before.

I lost my Internet connection for a while. Getting those emails now.

I just updated a few minutes ago and didn't notice any changes. All my customization is still there and working.

Luckily, I had backed up my database and reverted back to pre-upgrade state..

this would have been scary had I not had a back up..

Didn't you also need to backup the files (php, etc) as well?

Just an update: Most of the named problems (in both threads) have a common factor which I'm almost done fixing.

In the meantime, please have a little fun and test out twitter integrator.

yes, but the only thing changed was the addition of premium upgrade plugin..

removing that, sorted things out..

I was on 2.6.0 already.. there are minor issues but crucial stuff has been restored.. 2.6.0 on it's own does not cause huge issues, although there are issues that need to be addressed..

Ignore the cart manager for now. I can update it after. We just need to make sure the paid version is working perfectly. Cart plugin is easy.

Does that mean the premium plugin has been updated?

I'm ready to purchase but I'm not in a hurry. I'd rather install the updated product instead of one that needs to be updated after installation.

Thanks, Redneck, for that. I'm glad to hear it. But I may hold off a few more days, just to make sure I don't wipe out weeks of work.

Meanwhile, I'm happy with what the "SS Pro" plugin is giving me.

Leo Blanchette

You can hold off a few days. I'll be having an update tonight on the issues mentioned in this thread.

Leo Blanchette

Payment/delivery problem solved.

Both issues were 1 liners of code.

Finally I can get my head together and answer some questions.

Yes, everything listed on that page is what comes with the premium plugin. A little trivia for you - I was going to call it "professional" upgrade but sadly the term carries a whole new overtone since the Yuri thread :D hence the ss-professional filename, but the actual title being "Premium".

The main theme changed in that it removes a few bugs and some cleanup has happened (you know the "just installed Symbiostock and I have  a white screen" that randomly popped up in the forum). The main theme also contains tons of hooks and filters so people like PLRANG can make plugins.

Some features in the base theme (like the author-options) were cleaned up a bit.

Premium version -

For those who would like some depthier info -

First off let me start by saying the reason why I didn't pre-write tons of introductions and tutorials is that I'm only one man. It seems the vast majority of things were self-explanatory and people found their way. I generally count on that.

But some things not yet stated about the premium version:

SEARCH

Search is vastly improved. This was a very very big priority. Since day 1. It required its own database and special functions. Now it has it. This is found in "Settings" area with the upgrade installed.

TWITTER

Seems like a cute non-essential, but its actually very useful to your SEO. I could have done facebook, but I personally believe facebook to be exploitive and useless, so I didn't do that. Twitter on the other hand, despite what many claim it to be, is actually a very dynamic, active, and honest link network. Google is parasitically attached to twitter watching everything that happens. For that reason its been implemented into Symbiostock. SEO. You will get indexed much much faster when you post new images to twitter.

BULK EDITOR

It should be self-explanatory. Do not underestimate the value of the collection feature. It allows you to sell multiple images at once, under a special price. If anything in the bulk editor has been left "inconvenient" please let me know, because this is a very important feature.

LICENSE EDITOR

The goal here was to make licensing dynamic and flexible. To be anything you want it to be. People have requested a various number of licenses, and it would be impractical to reinvent every license by type. So this actually allows you to put together a logical chain of licensing info and price upgrades when needed. The goal (and a little more development might be needed) is to allow you to integrate any sort of licensing you wish.

For instance, if you feel you can do the book-work and organization of Rights-managed, then the plugin even accommodates the "remove buy option" action which your paying customer will appreciate. Further if you want to SELL THE RIGHTS the image can be taken down (converted to draft) at sale.

cathyslife

Thanks for the explanations, Leo. That helps a lot.

I'll probably buy the premium upgrade sometime but I'm a bit concerned that you were talking about giving this away for free and now the site states the old price was $125.  As its only just out, when was it being sold for $125?  Do you really need to make it look like this is $50 off?

I don't have a problem paying $75 for all your hard work but I don't think the old price $125 is going to entice me, it has the opposite effect.
75$ till september 15th. However in this thread Leo does offer it for free according to a referall program.
http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-development-area/symbiostock-premium-previews/

Its so nice to finally catch up.

YES - If you can't afford it, you simply "pay" by referring a professional member to Symbiostock. Professional is defined as someone who sells work on other micros. For the sake of standards, we should say they must have 200 images at least.

Regarding referral program: This never left the plan.

Its perfectly sensible to offer the premium plugin to someone who recruits another person to the network. Its a highly beneficial act to everyone, and Symbiostock as a whole. Thats easily worth the plugin's value.

So, if anyone is in a situation they can't monetarily afford the plugin, there is still a perfectly good and practical way to get it. Not only that, it enhances the community aspect too, not leaving anyone out and keeping webmasters connected.

If there are any comments, please post them. I'll be launching some dedicated threads on the subject eventually anyway.

The improved search feature is cool. Now I can even search after the date or place I have put in editorial image description!
About the licenses I have one question though, do I have to write the different licenses by myself, since it is asking for url that contains legal info?

Either one you wish! Actually I'd love to see the creation of symbio-legal docs relating to various license types, which we can link to. In the meantime, though, we still supply our own verbage. you can link to external sites if you wish

I have just purchased, thought I have done Things the right way, but have now the message

"Internal Server Error

I had helped jeancliclac ealier today on this as my first project.

I believe this is due to having LOTS of images on SHARED hosting. If you have LOTS of images, let me know ahead of time. So far it appears only one person had this issue so far (update me if otherwise) but what happens is if the database is already active by other sites and the plugin (on activation) attemps to build its database, it will overload the server. 4000+ images with keywords, title, content being updated. In some environments your server may smack you. Its not a heavy process, but it can be depending on how many people are squashed into one apartment (server).

If you think you have a situation of TONS of images on hosting you may not trust, contact me ahead of time. Eventually I'd like to find a "kinder" way to build the initial database, but thats how it works for now/

Leo Blanchette

It appears the last two problems are Cidepix watermark issue and Chrstine's strange price calculation issue. I'll take this opportunity to post the updates and a special "refinements" thread I had planned...

Leo Blanchette

Just an update: the two cart bugs have been fixed. Both the theme and plugin have a new upgrade available to them you should find available.

Awesome, thanks Leo. Will the plugin update alert show up if the ss-professional plugin is deactivated? I saw the alert for 2.6.1 Theme update and I did update to 2.6.1 for the theme.

Leo Blanchette

Yes it should. even if it doesn't show an update it should still fetch whatever is out there. The theme tends to be a little more finicky though. Actually its hosted on an external wordpress-updates (paid) service, so the quirks are still a little out of my control. Generally though updates should be available to everyone.
