See attached pole.

I noticed quite a few of you have write-ups on the Symbiostock network. Its awesome to watch everyone "owning" the project and having fun with it. I can also make a special SS widget  which can autolink to this page with an attractive icon.

As you know the theme auto-generates certain necessary pages (like UELA, Cart, etc).

Would you like a About Symbiostock page generated with verbage, links (download) etc? On this page we might also show a list of your network buddies as well as other custom functionality for this template.

If yes, please put your heads together on the info / verbage the page would include. What links, possibly the direct download link - just very helpful stuff to users and potentially other webmasters.

I'll design it for next update if its desired.

If others want it, i am ok with you including it, as long as there will be a disable for it.

I still have mixed feelings about showing network buddies. I dont want to hurt anyones feelings by not including them. And i know that if i saw a list and no one had my name on it, i would be disappointed. I would like to hear other peoples thoughts. Maybe i am being too sensitive.

I agree that there definitely should be a disable option..

Even if you don't want to go to the party, its still nice to get an invitation. I totally get it.

Pretty soon we're going to be addressing networking and search in the same span of time. At some point (when there's room on the MSG front page :D) you should probably open up an opinion thread on more network features. Don't limit yourself to what you see already - networking can be brought to any level you want, on any page, with any features. Only the ideas are needed. For instance, if you want to have EVERYONE in your network, but only include search results from 5 people...there is still a practical place for that.

this is going to become a problem as we expand -- a closed network will have only 6 members, ever. but anyone who wants a larger network currently has no way of knowing who's linking to whom.  ideally we'd like to have a network where all members are an equal distance from each other (remember six degrees of separation?), so someone on A sees B,C,D and when they go to B they see A,F,G

without someway to know about linking, some people could end up ONLY linking out with no incoming links - bad for both their SEO and image searches

for a start we could just keep a list of who's linking to whom - but that info could also be generated directly from all installed sites -- there are some great network analysis programs out there that let you visualize quickly and experiment with linking that might be used to maximize traffic

Have fun with it. Generally you should be on a trust relationship with whomever your networking with. But if you want to build some trackable system (or at least a diagram of your idea) I can write it in. When we start programming the network things are just going to get really fun. Just don't ask me to implement Farmville.

I think that might be difficult for niche sites like mine. There's not much point for me to connect with a lot of sites if their chosen niches don't complement mine. I like the idea of opting in if you want to.
