For back ups I wouldn't necessarily rely on your host, not all of them have the same back up methods.  You should be able to make a complete back up of your database through your host and there are several popular Wordpress plugins for backing up your site as well.

1) How to add the social network buttons at the bottom of the page? Which is a good widget that doesn't irritate while browsing and just sits nicely at the bottom or top of the page?

I'm using The Social Links plugin on my site. It works pretty well, it's just basic social media icons.

Check out the footer of my SY site to see how it looks.

Hello, my site is ready and everything works perfectly, even the PayPal. I have a quick question: in my drop-down Categories menu is the number of images in the category does not appear. How do I eliminate it?

Hi Elilena - welcome to Symbiostock

I do not fully understand your question

In the main category list numbers appear (you seem to have disabled this) but in the drop down menu you only know how many there are when you click on a category and see the number at the top of the page

Thanks for the replies, I understand it.
I then want that when clicking on the 'Categories' in the menu you will not be redirected to the blank page, like me, but on the page with all CATEGORIES  following, for example here:

Sorry for my Enlish! :-[

It seems you have set up two sites, on www.elilena.com looks like you used a redirect to the categories page but that is empty as you choose to display categories in drop down menu. But I am not sure as I dont know enough of the SYS theme to help you further.

It looks like you are using Amanda's Clean and Simple Child Theme ?

That does have the page will all categories disabled.  It will probably be easiest to ask Amanda directly for help on this.

I like having the full category page and numbers visible as well, I find it very useful :)

2 more questions:
- how do I disable comments? If I am logged in I see a place to add comments. I am getting at least one spam comment a day

- where are the images stored in the server? If I want to download these photos back to my hard drive? I also plan to use FTP to submit the photos to rest of the stock websites

Images are found here on the server /www/wp-content/uploads/symbiostock_rf_content

And you can turn of comments here /wp-admin/admin.php?page=symbiostock-control-options

Not sure what you mean? Clean theme only changes the look of the category page, it doesn't disable anything.  Here is the Image Category page on the sample site.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Sorry, I had noticed that some of the others who are using your clean theme do not have a full category page so thought it was something within the theme - I like the way you have put them in columns

Hmm, I'm concerned I'll take another look but nothing in the CSS should be causing that at all.  I think the test site is on 2.4.9 so I'm going to upgrade and make sure it doesn't affect anything.

Worst case I would suggest flipping over to the main theme to see if the category page is working with that then we can narrow it down.

put your site in front of the URL www.mysite.com/wp-admin/admin.php? page=symbiostock-control-options and then click author options or go to the dashboard and click symbiostock and then click author options

I think Ron is correct that it may be a re-direct issue.  I was looking at your site trying to figure this one out and I noticed that when I go to your categories page the url says: http://elilena.com/sample-page/image-categories/

But it should just be http://elilena.com/image-categories/  however, when I try that link it redirects to the first url.  Did you maybe set up a redirect manually?   If so may want to adjust that one page, it looks like everything else is working properly.

I have removed redirekt, but the Categories page is still empty. I have to post here any slideshow so it does not look so boring.
What exactly is 'parent page' and what is it good for?

You should have a page called 'Image Categories' in your page list, which is blank, using the 'Categories Page' template. If you don't have one, just create it and that should work.

I am on 3.5.5 and all image categories appear as they always have, and have the number of images in each category in parentheses after them.

Thanks Cathy, good to know!

Looks like Travelling-light has the answer, if you manually created the Image Categories page make sure to choose the correct page template.

A Parent Page is basically just an organizational tool in Wordpress used to help give hierarchies to your pages which is useful if you have a site with a lot of content.  In Symbiostock it's not something you really have to use or worry about for the basic functions, but it's good to know in general.

I  did a search on google images and I saw few of my photos but the problem is that when I click on the image it takes me to a different image on my website. Any idea what can be the issue?
