I tried safari and chrome and they are the same after a few refreshes...doesnt move to download.
Gonna do a test purchase. Can you refund me after? thanks.

Yes, Ron did a test purchase on my site and was not able to get the image.

Yes, I can refund your image. I will go refund Ron, too.

I've done a few more tests. Refund them when you can.

So far the only thing I can see thats even slightly wrong is that I get a strange 301 moved response when the "post" is made to paypal. I'm still looking into it.

Also (unlikely) have you modified the cart-area page in a template at all? Thats one template I suggest nobody messes with.

I am not sure what you mean by modifying the cart-area page in a template. I made one modification to cart.php on line 278 to change DOWNLOAD to ADD TO CART, as was discussed in another thread. But you have reloaded the theme since then and I have not reloaded my cart.php file.

So are the images you purchase moving into the download area?

The one time I changed only one letter in the cart.php file my whole site crashed, I am not touching that file  ;)

Refunded all your purchases, Leo, except the very latest. Will wait a few more minutes.

By the way, this person is/was having the same issue as I am:

http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-technical-support/issues-with-download-after-paying-with-paypal-for-file/

I don't see where they ever got it resolved. I asked what theme version they were using but never got an answer, so not sure if they gave up or what or whether it's an earlier version, or 2.6.x.

I responded to wrong thread -- Copied:

I think you are mistaking me for someone else. I have had minor issues with things, like everyone else, until 2.5.5. That was stable for me. Update to 2.5.6 was stable for me. Purchases have gone through just fine for months now, in fact I haven't had issues with that before at all. Not sure what you mean by "long term fight with Symbiostock."

With the rollback to 2.5.5 (2.5.6 simply fixed uploader/hosting issue) the cart does not drop purchases to the download area.

Here is all the "clues" the the puzzle so far.

  • Firebug shows that all necessary post data is being submitted to paypal.
  • Paypal's developer (fake) transaction works perfectly. Its meant to be a mirror-image of the real system. (Tests work in sandbox, not in paid environment for you)
  • Rolling back to 2.5.5 - problem persists. Download not given.
Thats what I have so far. I'll keep noodling it. In the meantime can you check your IPN is turned off? Just in case its hijacking the process (unlikely, but just to make sure)

Thanks Leo.

IPN is disabled in paypal.

When YOU make a purchase live, not in sandbox, does it move to the download area for you? I have asked twice now.  :)

No, I don't get downloads. What I mean is your site is not doing it in this version or the rolled back version.

The last thing we can do is see if the IPN is going through at all (I suspect its not) simply by having the IPN script located in /symbiostock_ipn/ write a text document of the results. Its an annoying processes, but I'll do that quickly and update you. After that I'll have to depart for a bit to the other issues.

No problem. I understand. I have a plugin that says my site is down for maintenance. I will just put that back up until it's resolved.

Apparently you speak Leo-ese better than I do. Part of the problem is that some of the answers are in the other thread.  :(

Here's an update for a while on this one:

In the IPN script I have a little developer option which writes the results to a text file. IF THE IPN is called by paypal, it will write the results (such as buyer info, products, status) and if it fails due to *anything* it will simply write a failed document.

Basically this test works when the IPN script is called by paypal. Going a step further, I wrote in a little "hi I'm here" line just to make sure that the script was updating to the most recent version with every install. I got that response.

Final outcome:

Your site is talking to paypal, but paypal is not talking to your site in a paid setting. In a sandbox setting it works.

Also in near future I'm going to set up an option for paypal response notes to be shown in your admin area so that your not completely in the dark. A script that simply writes you a note as to whats happening if paypal is talking to you.

I'll have an update ready tonight which fixes a few other named issues.

I dont want to clutter your thread, honestly, but the answer is a few posts above yours in this thread.

Just a remote possibility.  Could it be that there are no images in your symbiostock-rf folder?

That's my problem discovered just today (see another thread in this section - Where are the thumbnails and preview images stored?).

I just checked, Les, and I do have images in my folder. My symbiostock-rf folder is located in the root level public_html. But thanks for the suggestion.

Where can i find this text file?

As an aside, if there are missing files in symbiostock-rf client will get a note to this effect after paying, site owner does not get to see this and would therefore assume all has gone well.

Cathy, Leo is telling you it does not work for you ie:  on your site

BTW this might be a late request, but I'll still see this thread if it doesn't have a LEO HELP on top of it. (Slightly embarassing and really you know I'm paying attention)

I always think of this every time something new is introduced to the package:
Quote

John Hammond: All major theme parks have delays. When they opened Disneyland in 1956, nothing worked!

Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but, John, if The Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists.

...from Jurassic Park

I was confused because i started the thread with this problem, jsnover was having the same issue, you fixed and answered her a few posts below mine, but i never heard back from you until yesterday. I will remove the LEO HELP. Will my site be magically fixed then?  :)

Its also slightly embarrassing to have had images for sale for months and now my site is useless.

My site was stable through 2.5.5 and 2.5.6. I was purchasing test images just fine. I have the same host that i have always had. No other settings have changed. All i did was update to 2.6.4. Last night when you were finished, i disabled two plugins that i think i added after the last successful test purchase which was 8-10-13. Disabling those changed nothing, so i dont think the issue is the plugins. Since the purchase is going through and emails are being sent, it doesnt seem like its a paypal thing. We are getting returned to the site just fine, that just doesnt seem to be triggering the image to move to the download section. I don't know what else i can try. You mentioned some updates, so i will check for those.

I will try one more thing and open a paypal business account, just in case the issue is on paypals end. I would think that if there were an issue with my current paypal account, i would get some kind of notice. I have used it a day ago to make other purchases with no issues, but stranger things have happened. I know they have some kind of limit on number of transactions or dollar amount, but i have never been close to that figure.

It's not a directory permissions issue is it ?

Directory permissions...if it's something I can check for, I can. I have ftp access to all my files, or I can look in file manager in Bluehost. Just not sure where to look.

It's very likely about paypal account type..

I remember talking to a paypal rep before starting to sell on my own site and I was told to get a premier or business account..

That's what I have for a long time now..
