Title: Announcing the Adobe Stock 2022 contributor bonus program
Post by: MatHayward on February 03, 2023, 11:47
Hi Everyone,

I have news that many of you have been waiting for. The 2022 bonus program for Adobe Stock contributors has been confirmed!

You can review the details in our Royalty Details page: https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/royalty-details.html

The criteria to qualify is a bit different this year so please read carefully.

If you had between 250-5,999 downloads during the calendar year, you qualified to receive a complimentary code for one-year plan from these options: Creative Cloud Photography (20GB), Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, or After Effects.

If you had 6,000 or more downloads in 2022, you qualified to receive a complimentary code for an Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps one year plan.

Only contributors active in 2022 are eligible for the bonus. To be considered active, you must have uploaded and had approved a minimum of 20 new assets in the calendar year, 2022.

Please note that video downloads are equal to 3 downloads in consideration of the bonus program qualification.

I will share an update on when you can expect to see the blue banner back in the Adobe Stock contributor portal with your redemption code.

Thank you so much to everyone for your contribution last year, we look forward to an even better 2023! Without you, there is no us.

-Mat Hayward

Very good that Adobe came through but it does seem like a very late call. Almost like they didn't want to but reconsidered it at the end.

Numbers to be eligible went up but I guess inflation is everywhere now.

Tough luck for pigsinspace who now owns Cascoly the 20 bucks, against all odds :)

Hello,
That's a great message.
So, if Adobe cares about its suppliers, is it possible to equalize the rate for credit that suppliers in Poland currently get?
We receive PLN 4, while both $ and € are significantly above this amount.
As of today, PLN 4.3 (it was also PLN 5 last year)
and € 4.7 PLN

Maybe the amount of PLN 4.5 per loan would be appropriate?
Please appreciate our work as well as other providers who earn $ or €.

Thanks Mat, that's good news.

I guess I'll have to apologize for the harsh criticism of Adobe first.

Next year I'll keep my mouth shut for the time being  ;)

hi Matt!

Thanks, sounds great - please let the team say thanks.

BTW - an interface suggestion if you don't mind? Sometimes I find when uploading assets, and then submitting them, I realize I've made a mistake. There doesn't seem to be any way to modify 'pending' assets, so I find I have to delete, then re-upload them.

However, if I have a bunch of assets that become pending (sometimes perhaps a few dozen), I find I have to 'manually' delete them one by one in a very cumbersome fashion. Could you please perhaps suggest a 'mass-delete' tool for pending assets (the same way you could select a number that were simply uploaded then delete them all at once), or - some way of modifying them (in case a mistake is made)?

Thanks very much!

Sad, just realized I didn't have enough downloads according to those specs.

Could you please reconsider the 250 threshold, and/or change the video download value? (I think it used to be 8 per video download?)

Thanks!

Mat, a question.
My paid subscription has now started, Adobe has debited the first monthly payment for February.
Do I need to cancel the subscription or is it enough to just enter the new code?

Thank you

If the code you redeem is for the exact same plan, then your payments should be paused while the code is active. I recommend you visit adobe.com and contact Adobe customer service directly for additional confirmation once you have received and redeem your code.

thanks,

Happy to see the announcement of another year of the contributor bonus program.

The good news was that I had a nice boost last year in licenses - I was over the 5,000 threshold whereas the year before I was a little short. The bad news is that I was not at the new threshold of 6,000 so I still don't qualify for all apps!

Photoshop is the main thing for me, and it was probably wishful thinking that I'd have time to get back into Illustrator (I used to own it but haven't done illustrations in a while). I know it's been asked before, but it'd be wonderful to have some intermediate thresholds where you could get one more program - only 250 downloads qualifies you for the same Photography plan that I qualify for with many times that number.

Is there a way to see how much an image has earned Lifetime on Adobe?

Not easily. Adobe has never followed through on the many suggestions about improving contributor stats - not even to bring them up to the Fotolia level.

If you want to do it the painful way, a year at a time you can list your top sellers and it'll show you the total for that year. Do that for each year the image you're interested in has been online and add them up. It is primitive.

You can copy/paste into a spreadsheet, but work to match up the file numbers across years might not be worth it.

Great that it's back, but I really dislike the new "active contributor" criteria - it was 2 assets per year for the longest time, and we weren't given ANY notice that there would be a change. So in 2022, I just uploaded the bare minimum - exactly 2 images.

My account has way over 6000 cumulative downloads per year, yet I don't qualify because I didn't upload more than 20 images.

And just this year I was planning to start uploading a lot of generative AI stuff, but now I don't have the tools to edit them properly. And I refuse to subscribe, deliberately, out of principle, as people who have way less downloads per year than me got the complimentary subscription just based on the fact they were more active. So that's a boo for Adobe in my book.

If we were informed during 2022 that 20 assets would be the new requirement, I would have uploaded 20. But by not informing us and then pulling this off, I'd rather pay a one-time fee for Affinity photo, or just learn to use GIMP.
Title: Re: Announcing the Adobe Stock 2022 contributor bonus program
Post by: Zero Talent on February 06, 2023, 10:27
My 2022 uploads were a bit above the new requirement, so I'm exceeding both the 20 uploads and the 6k downloads thresholds.

Nice to see that I will be able to continue to use the Encoder, besides, LR and PS.

Microstockr. And not just for Adobe but across all platforms.

But it's not free.

Yes I know and I've read that before and I've answered before, the agency should provide stats, not make us pay for an outside developer. Plus, the fact that Microstockr can do it and we can see our data back to the start, but only 12 months at a time on the contributor interface, means the information is there, and all it would take is someone at Adobe to care enough to make that available?

What's the reasoning for the only 12 months?

Lifetime Earnings for our images? That's not so difficult to ask for? Some actually useful data for creating more of what sells. Not some of the useless stat like views, that we get from some agencies. Top Earning images? Is that so hard?

Most downloads (lifetime downloads) is there, which is part of the useful data. If they can read that, they can read lifetime earnings.

Is there a way to see how much an image has earned Lifetime on Adobe?

Not easily. Adobe has never followed through on the many suggestions about improving contributor stats - not even to bring them up to the Fotolia level.

Yeah, I suppose, once I do that, and just save the database and add, once every 6 months or something, I'd have it.

I just checked, and I had 666 downloads last year, some of which were videos.  So, other than the obvious reference to the Devil, sounds good.  I rather missed this program last year...

Last time around I got the entire Adobe Suite, but then I never used anything other than LR and PS, so this is just as good for me.

Good its back.

Somewhat annoying that by my best guess i finished up on about 5,900 downloads so just short of the 6,000 for a full package!

Suggestion: Please make it possible to filter the stats by asset type to take the guesswork out of this!

Edit:- Going through numerous CSVs and appears im 170 short of the 6,000.  Doh.

But it's not free.

I also wish I could switch but Microstock Analytics still provides some functionality I've come to rely on, but the support just isn't there. Not surprising when the developer is also a very successful photographer, I assume he doesn’t have the time to dedicate to it. I can’t really blame him but still, frustrating.

Matt said 250-5999 downloads for 2022 and 20 accepted asset uploads qualify for minimum Bonus.

My Adobe stats seems to show 378 downloads for 2022, and 25 accepted uploads, which sounds as if I might qualify.  How does one find out if they actually DO qualify for the Bonus Program? And if so, what's the process?  I see no Blue Banner on my Contributor Account portal page, so does that mean I somehow did not qualify?

I've searched everywhere on all my Creative Account pages and Contributor Account pages and can't find any reference. Also, love how the "Help from a real person" link launches a virtual assistant that seems to know nothing about the Bonus Program. Interesting.

The support link you described sounds like it was at Adobe.com. Adobe Stock contributors have a dedicated team specifically here for you. The best way to reach us is via the contact us link at the bottom of the contributor portal.

Based on the numbers you shared, it sounds like you have qualified. To be clear, the codes have not yet been applied to the portal. Nobody sees the blue banner yet. When it goes live, I will post here immediately, though I suspect someone will beat me to it. Stay patient.

If I rememeber correctly, in the past, I got the PS+LR yearly subscription before the codes arrived, and I became subject of some early termination fee. I had to call customer service and convince them to switch my account to the all apps version without losing money.

I'm so glad for the good news but, once again, the change in criteria counts me out, as I fall short of the required 6k downloads for all apps. (Same happened when the criteria changed from 500 uploads).

I think I'm maybe going to let the full program go, and just take the free option for Photoshop/Lightroom, as I'm otherwise unable to benefit. My question is whether last years' code is still valid, and can I add this before receiving this years' code. If so, where can I find it?

Alternatively, can there be some kind of discount for those of us that want the full program but just miss out on the qualification? It feels like there is a group of us simply not benefiting in any way and just paying our monthly subscription regardless of the generous offer that Adobe is making.

Got over 4000 downloads and 26 new uploads in 2022, so it looks good  :). At the same time I deleted a few images in 2022 (they went somewhere else for exclusive usage), so I hope those don't count into the amount of new uploads, otherwise I might be below 20  ::)

U can't buy Photography plan only for 1 or 2 months. You can pay monthly, but you are committed to subscribe it for 1 year. So once you buy it, u can't cancel it for 1 year

I've qualified for this in the past but never used it - either my computer wasn't up to speed or it was too much trouble to bother.  I didn't submit anything during 2021 so could't qualify for 2022.  Last year I decided to submit some images just to qualify for this program so I can see how different the current version of PS is compared to my old CS4 version - which still works as long as I don't update my computer too much.  Was glad to see this continued and hope to try it out one of these days.  Adobe is the only agency that is increasing sales lately and therefore the only one really worth contributing to ATM.

. Adobe is the only agency that is increasing sales lately and therefore the only one really worth contributing to ATM.

even for those were that is true, another question is whether other sources are remaining steady -  eg my SS sales are consistently 2-3  times AS sales.  so it's worth continuing to submit to more than AS even if that margin was narrowing.  not submitting to other sites just makes it a self fulfilling prophecy

Is your portfolio the same size at SS and AS?

I can see it's 47,340 at SS  but at AS you can only see the first 10k of anyone's portfolio.

If the port size is substantially different, it would be more accurate to adjust the sales for the site with the larger portfolio to make a like-to-like comparison.

true, my AS is about 1/2 that on SS, but my submissions are mostly the same, so what i'd really need to know is what % of total actually sell. is AS rejecting images that won't sell on either site? i  dont know that, or even have an estimate,  so size to size isnt any more accurate with so many more unknowns

There is actually no such robust and high end software(s) other than the apps of Adobe Creative Cloud.
I have experimented on many but have reverted back. So good luck to you.

Putin's propaganda already have a wide variety of options. From third-party resellers and buyout licenses (yes!) to de facto legalized piracy.
But you are talking about your colleagues, microstock contributors, who just want to do things right. Remember, codes are distributed inside the industry. How can you imagine propaganda on the Adobe Stock, for example?

1. Russians contributors are paying taxes from earnings made from microstock, using tools made by Adobe. Their taxes are used wage war on Ukraine, to destroy cities, to kill civilians, to torture, to rape and plunder.
Adobe surely doesn't want to be associated with that.

2. All the propaganda memes below (and many more flooding the internet) were most probably created using Adobe products.
Potentially giving tools for free to such "artists", and enabling Putin's propaganda is too risky.
Adobe surely doesn't want to be associated with that.

If someone has violated a crime, is it necessary to put all his relatives, friends, neighbors, classmates and so on in jail?
If he committed a crime with a hammer, should all his countrymen be banned from selling hammers?
"Just common sense"?
Dear colleagues! Let's look in the mirror more often, Let's not get into xenophobia and politics, but discuss issues related to microstocks.

I think we should avoid this discussion here :)
1 - You may be right, but not everything is so simple. Starting with the fact that the taxes of the contributor are nothing compared to the industrial exports from RU to the US and the EU, which are still working (I'm not talking about oil and gas). Ending with the fact that half of the contributors pay only local taxes, which are not distributed to government needs
2 - Please remove the pics :) It's mostly done with online tools or warez, and it's always been that way. But I want to say that this is not done by the contributors, who are much more open, active and supportive. Really, I don't know a single one who accepts this aggression

We don't send them to jail, but we don't do business with them as long as they continue to support directly or indirectly those criminals who killed their fomer buddies by smashing their heads with a sledgehammer (among many other atrocities).

We don't do business with them as long as they continue to support the bosses (read Putin) who ordered those atrocities.

It's just common sense.

PS. That trash requires some illustration skills, so it's very probable that illustration tools (very possible from Adobe too) were used to create that.

As difficult and heartbreaking as the situation is, could we please keep politics out of this thread?

Or maybe open an offtopic thread about the subject.

Personally I believe our Russian colleagues do not support the war. Artists and creatives are usually supporters of freedom, peace, lgbt rights…etc…

I see them as additional victims of Putins oppression and war, but that is just my 2 cents.

But a perhaps if someone opens a different thread we can collect information and share our opinions peacefully and constructively.

Except for the illustrators who created those propaganda memes, as you can see above.  ;)

I don't see a reason for your wishful thinking.

Microstock is a side job for a large majority of the contributors, Russian inclusive.
Besides those propagandist illustrators, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that even people working directly in the Russian war industry do microstock to supplement their income.

I assume that not the entire population is behind Putin, but certainly not everyone has the opportunity to leave the country.
Not to mention any public protest.

Whether that is possible here, I have my doubts.

Naivete 100%. There, 90-95% of people are poisoned by propaganda. Of course, some may not support the war in the literal sense, but ask them whose Crimea and Donbass and most will tell you that this is Russia. Putin's support there is huge. Almost all stockers from Russia, in the description of the photo from Crimea they write that Crimea is Russia. This is propaganda, this is support for terrorism, occupation, war and genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Among those who don’t support the war, can they say so publicly? Even on an anonymish forum like MSG? Or will they end up arrested?

You rested only on the word war. Russians support the fascist regime and Putin, support the occupation of Crimea and Donbass, support Putin's demands for peace. This is enough for the Putin regime to do whatever it wants.
Of course there are 5%, maybe 10% of those who do not support all evil. But what is 10%? Any Russian stoker who writes in his stock photo that Crimea is Russia is already an accomplice in Russia's crimes.

No worries.
The real help for Ukraine comes from actual donations and from constantly asking for sanctions against Ruscism to be widely implemented and maintained.
That includes restrictions against the use of "western" products like Adobe software. Isn't their propaganda claiming that "the West" is corrupt and decaying? Is so, they shouldn't even need Adobe products.

Its fairly pointless blocking software as its so easy to get around.
All (most at least!) of us pay for rent or buy the software we use but a 30 second look on the torrent sites and i could find a working version of Adobe CC apps, Resolve and pretty much anything else to download.  Block the legal version they'll just all switch to that (if they dont already).  Most of the big torrent sites are Russian and have been for decades.

Sanctions on public available software really don't work in areas with little or no IP/copyright enforcement.

Given this is a country that literally stole several hundred aircraft last year with full assistance of the government i suspect following up on IP theft to a hostile nation isnt going to be high on their list of priorities.

Worrying about the above gets nobody anywhere - just have to accept its happening and not let it get to you.

OK. Back to topic.

Among those who don’t support the war, can they say so publicly? Even on an anonymish forum like MSG?
you can see plenty of those spamming comments on russian social media sites ( even so it is hard to tell percentage of ukrainian/western bots vs real russian citizens)
also you may want to expand your question and try to check out what's up with ukranians who refuse participating in the war

Just tried to redeem the bonus code but it doesn't work.

The link in the blue bar links to adobepartneroffer.com which doesn't seem to exist. Is this an old code or is the redeem site down?

Same problem here.
I've been trying to contact Adobe but got no answer and now my plan has expired. In the chat of creative cloud app they close the conversation every time before someone from support for contributors shows up, "sorry, we are closed" after having me waiting for hours, and all I got after all those days trying to contact them was an e-mail, yesterday, saying my suscription has expired and inviting me to pay, with more than 18.500 downloads last year.

What's up people from Adobe?!

It seems like it's a broken link. I still have till September before I need to update so I hadn't checked it.

I've tried a couple of browsers and it returns the error below.

@MatHayward Mat, is this being looked into.... cheers.

It's funny that they marked my case as resolved

The question is, did anyone else was able to redeem it's 2023 code? If not it seems it was a hasty decision to give them away anyway but weren't prepared for it. Otherwise you are just having bad luck I guess.

I was able to redeem my code (shortly after they were issued). I would assume this is just a bug - like the one where tax forms weren't available for a while - where they aren't treating it as a high priority problem.

25 days without a license with +18K downloads last year. Thank God Adobe is treating this issue with “highest priority”.

I am sure that tasks such as repairing links, generating codes and distributing them to users who meet certain conditions must be much more complicated than it seems if a company like Adobe cannot handle this more easily. But this issue is causing a drastic disruption of my workflow so, at this point, where I have already spent my annual vacation period waiting for a code, I would greatly appreciate some kind of clue whether it's going to be fixed or not – and when. If this is not to much to ask for.
Thanks.

it's been two weeks now that I only have sales on Mondays,Thursdays and Fridays,on the other hand March was my BME with more than double the previous BME.
Since I started in 2018,Adobe has been the only agency where I've made more money each year, and keep growing, although i haven't had sales of 2 usd or more since last November.
Thank you Adobe! :)

250-5,999 downloads during the calendar year, you qualified to receive a complimentary code for one-year plan from these options: Creative Cloud Photography (20GB), Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, or After Effects.

Only contributors active in 2022 are eligible for the bonus. To be considered active, you must have uploaded and had approved a minimum of 20 new assets in the calendar year, 2022.

Hardly asking for very much, for a free subscription? 20 new assets and 250 DLs?

Just looking at what it takes to be considered active. 20 new assets?  :) The DLs take care of themselves.

I hope you are still following this thread because I have a question :)

If I redeem my complimentary single app plan now, could I upgrade it to all apps plan by paying the difference? Or would I still have to pay the full price for all apps plan even though I have a year of complimentary single app membership?

I hope the question was clear enough.

Thanks in advance for the answer if you are around.

Without you, there is no us.

-Mat Hayward

With AI there is no me. Give us an opt-out for AI.

Also explain clearly what "training" means in the context of your AI system. Does it involve taking parts of current images to create new ones?

Hopefully AI will kill Adobe's software market share. Someone will create an engine that uses a rival software to do everything Adobe currently does. How does that sound? Sounds like a real possibility to me. Users won't have to know how to use the software. They will just guide it to produce the product they want with text or voice commands. Potentially one piece of software on some cloud somewhere in the world could pump out thousands of business documents a day. AI will take care of balance and form, quality control and output standards. I can imagine business persons just saying, I need a three fold A4 pamphlet and AI will guide them through it.

My previous redemption code is about to expire and I have a blue banner saying I'm eligible for a new one but when I click on it I get the message "APO codes not available for this product". I currently have the Creative Cloud All Apps 100GB plan. I sent a message via the "contact us" page 3 weeks ago but haven't received a reply and twice tried the online chat but they've been unable to help me. I now only have 3 days left to apply a new code so am really hoping you can advise me before I lose access to PS
