Tricky question - as for contributors with mixed video and photo portfolios, the high value of the video will bump up the average even though the number of them might be small.

I use Microstockr Pro to track such things and I think I can get somewhat close to the answer. For the 12 sites that the App tracks, in February I got 2595 downloads for $2092 - 81c.

iStock brings that down a lot with its less than 10c downloads. Adobe Stock is about 90c, Shutterstock is about 72c. But it varies from month to month.

The real answer though isn't the income per download although that might make you feel good. Isnt the question how much your images would have earned if they weren't exclusive? Not sure your question is getting you there because you don't know how many times they would have sold on other agencies.

Hmmm. IS makes no secret that they have a geographic bias to the search, and presumably cookies play a big part. I see - in some searches - a difference, sometimes a big difference, in results in my usual browser and in a browser which is cleared after each session. Also often a friend in the US gets different results.

In addition, for several years, the 'most recent' sort hasn't always meant most recent; and I recently noticed that in a 'most popular' sort, one of my pics from a series with very few sales was ranked (in a sitewide search) several pages above my top-selling file on its main keyword.

Plus you may have noticed, as I have, that sometimes best-sellers suddenly stop selling, then checked and found it has gone from the top ten in the best match site to below 1000 on their main keyword.

All of this has little bearing on whether you should become independent, of course. Just one thing about that, in case you didn't know. You might think that if you were independent, your files might sell more on iS because they are cheaper. A few people have been caught out by this.  If you go indie, your existing files will still sell for 3 credits, of which you will get 15%. However, new content will be sold at 1 credit. Of course, that could change on a whim, if their system is sophisticated enough. I'm not sure what happens to content which is mirrored on Getty, though all your content will still be available to Premium Access buyers.
