Would someone in the know want to share the revelations?  I don't see a reason to drive traffic to their site.

Apparently, their new terms say you're not allowed to share anything from the forums in public.

I have an account (back from when I was an exclusive and technically free to submit directly to Getty) but I can only see the Getty forums, not the iStock ones. I contacted support about it when I couldn't see a contributor article they linked in an e-mail and they "fixed" it but just to read the article, not to see the forums.

As I don't submit there, I've not bothered to chase up their support people to fix it again :)

I got the emails too.  Was nice to have some royalty adjustments in my favor for once.

Like many others, I never bothered trying to find or use their new forums.  Would someone in the know want to share the revelations?  I don't see a reason to drive traffic to their site.

The message in this e-mail was an error. These were actually adjustments to subscriptions from June.

I'm not sure they were subs since I got one mail with just one picture but with 0.72$, I get 0.28$ for subs so I think it can't be it. I doubt they paid me more because they felt sorry for mistake. But it was from June since that picture got accepted on 20th June.

Did that picture sell as a sub in June? The .72 is a 'bonus' meaning the sub plan should have paid you $1 not the $.28 you normally get. IS has been giving us this 'bonus' money as ambiguous money after the subs all get reported for several months now. This e-mail basically was making it not so ambiguous but actually telling us which images sold for more than the minimum sub price (which in my case is also 28 cents). I had four images get a 72 cent bonus, each of which gave me a 28 cent sale in June.

Thanks, Stock Wife for 5the explanation.  :)

OMG!!  Paranoid much, Getty?!   Thanks JoAnn.  Good thing this rule was only put in place after nobody gave a sh*t about the Istock forums anyway.

 :-X :-X :-X

thanks Jo Ann

Strange. I MUST sign up for their forum to get information about errors they do! If in this case the e mails were an error why can't they just send another one with an explanation and apologise for it but instead determine where I HAVE to get some clarification about it?

 8) But may be it's a good idea to sign up to their forum because it seems that top secret matters are discussed there.  8)

Don't worry about their forum.
Apart from the monthly bugs thread, there isn't much traffic there.
However, it makes much more sense to check there, or post there, if there's an issue than to ask here.

yes Sue sure but ... well what I don't like is that some agency decides where I have to get clarifications about errors they do. that's all

I start wondering upon which legal basis founds their terms of lots of things they publish recently starting from not deleting images in our port if we decide to do so and which still belong to US not them till forbidding about sharing anything from their forum concerning a matter by which they themselves started  irritating contributors by sending e mails.

^^ I hear what you're saying; but the fact is, if they choose to give any clarifications, it will be there, not here, which is fair enough. Doesn't it make sense that they would explain in their own forum?
(Of course, an apologetic, clarifying email would have been better, but that's probably beyond their techies.)

In any case, there are occasional sales which occur outwith the site, which probably result from some sort of direct selling, but I don't know for sure.

For completeness, here's the exact text on the Getty Images Contributor Community Forum page (after some blah blah about creating a vibrant professional community)

"Please Remember: All Information posted on the Contributor Website, including forum discussions, is confidential and may not be disclosed without Getty Images' prior written consent.

Let's preserve our ability to have an open dialogue. Thank You."

I think, if one were being lawyerly about it, disclosing that you were not allowed to disclose is itself a violation, but...

visiting istock forum was such an utterly infuriating experience, I never signed up for the new forum either.

two royalty emails from istock for me.

Why do they seem to f**k up absolutely everything they do..?

And we should look forward to the latest changes? I agree with you.

Mine said Thinkstock sale but also listed outside sale from a partner. The forums there are less useful then they were with the Lobo locking everything or say an answer was coming, but none ever did. Thread locked. Of course the exclusive drones cheers for iS would always be left open.

link to thread, only members can read it so not breaking any rules. https://contributors.gettyimages.com/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=5406#post53255

To be fair, very few threads on the new forum are locked or disappeared. When they do, it's normally because they are duplicate threads or have been used to a more appropriate forum.

However, I agree that many important questions are left unanswered, and hints of 'better times ahead' never materialise.

The last thread I started there was locked down by Lobo and he suggested I adopt the positive attitude of a contributor from India.

And now that gentleman and even  the No 1 Cheerleader are finding it impossible to stay positive.
