Jsnover has gotten her diamond canister on Istock!  Congratulations JoAnn!

I can honestly say you have been one of the most helpful and hard-working people I have met in my entire time doing microstock. This honor is well-deserved! Wishing you continued success!!  :D

Yes, congrats JoAnn. You are a very helpful person and very articulate. Your posts always reflect my feelings exactly and you express them so much more eloquently.

Congrats, self posing like she is doing isn't easy at all. I wonder how she is doing to frame correctly all the time, I guess she have a assistant... She's the only model photographer I know lol

A brilliant achievement and shows how well polished and many faceted her portfolio is.
Truly a cut above. Scintillating in all respects.

OK, sorry I could not help myself  ;D
In my other life I'm a gemologist.

All kidding aside, it must feel great to reach that level.
Congrats JoAnn!

Yes, well done JoAnn! On to black diamond 8)

This time next month, year, century??? I'll get right on that!!

Thanks so much for all the congrats. It does feel good to have reached diamond (finally - as some pointed out elsewhere, it's taken me a while!). Obviously I wish I had more than a month-ish with a 40% royalty rate, but that was then. Getty is now. Don't have to love 'em, but expect to be doing business with them anyway :)

And thanks to Lisa for starting the thread - I remember when we first "met" on the Big Stock forums when you commented on my new avatar (me in a straw hat). You were brand new in Spring 2005 and I was a grizzled veteran of 4 or 5 months!! Things have moved on a bit since then :)

And @Vonkara, no, I don't have an assistant. I set up the shots with a stand in - at the very beginning it was a Christmas tree stand with a 2x2 in it and a sheet of cardboard with a felt tip face drawn on. I'd adjust the height so the eyes were where mine would be! And sometimes an arm gets out of the frame and I can't use those, but after a while you get used to the setup part.

Let's hope that 2011 will be good for contributors - my 2010 is already a best year ever (before my royalty rate change), so even with all the crap, there's a lot to celebrate.

Thanks again everyone.

That is a serious accomplishment. Even more, your posts are always helpful and informative. Here is to next year being your biggest ever.

Best,
Jonathan

And yes, 40% is a very nice boost to earnings, but if I think about that too much I'll move further away from my goal of calm acceptance of that which I cannot change :)

And if this year can be a best year ever (which it was even before the royalty bump), no reason why next year can't be too - assuming buyers don't wear out their patience with the many bugs and inconveniences they've had to deal with since the new site was released in August :)

I think about 2-3% of contributors are diamond - plus I had 40K+ licenses sold on other sites before I became exclusive. A reasonable, part time enterprise - and one which fits in well with kids/school/etc. as it can be very flexible.

Thanks again for the kind words everyone.

I know you have a thread on IS forums, but so many people are banned or have just stopped posting there, seemed like you should have one here too.

Ah, those misty memories of days gone by... :)

You were certainly very helpful and encouraging to me back then and have continued to be since, for lots of people.  Not to mention that you have been a leader in the contributor community, who has spearheaded several successful efforts to secure better deals from the agencies.  Nowadays things change so fast it seems like we are bailing out the Titanic with a thimble, but you have been a big inspiration anyway!
