General Stock Discussion / Re: Payment fees (outside the US) and options...« on: April 10, 2025, 03:37 »
I set up a US$ account with a UK bank but PayPal still wouldn't let me transfer dollars into it. They definitely don't want you avoiding their conversion rate.

Adobe Stock / Re: what comes after "1 year ago"?« on: March 23, 2025, 04:29 »
I have a mixture of videos awaiting inspection for 7 months - some obvious locations like London landmarks, some generic rural scenes.
Since Adobe and Getty are the only games in town now, if Adobe don't get their inspections sorted it'll make exclusivity with Getty far more attractive. 4
General Stock Discussion / Re: istock exclusivity no longer a simple choice, now needs application?« on: March 13, 2025, 10:59 »
I'm photo exclusive with iStock, have been for best part of 20 years now and it still works well for me, just about.
I sell many times more videos on iStock / Getty than Adobe / Shutterstock / Pond5 combined, but the prices are so low for video on iStock that I don't think exclusivity would work. I wish they would put video prices up to make it viable. 6

You can't argue with crazy.
He'll get fed up with this place eventually and go and annoy someone somewhere else, they always do. 7

I urge all UK based creatives to do the same. https://www.creativerightsinai.co.uk 8

General Stock Discussion / Agency's certification or registration requirements for selling drone footage« on: January 14, 2025, 12:09 »
Can anyone tell what certification each agency actually requires and checks to upload footage to their collection?
Do any of them ask for details of the certifications / licensing / flight training / registration required for the country of the artist or the country where the footage is taken? 10
Shutterstock.com / Re: Shuterstock about to get eaten by Getty« on: January 10, 2025, 09:00 »
The likeliest tack they'll take is to tell us that because they've massively increased the customers available to artists through the merger, especially iStock exclusives, they are reducing royalty percentages and increasing targets, but say they expect the amount we receive to remain the same. Or they may do similar if and when they raise prices.

Whatever else is going wrong in America, I've always admired the way they care for their National Parks.

How can you tell the images are Gen AI other than their unlikely perfection? Im genuinely interested.

General Photography Discussion / Bluesky« on: November 16, 2024, 12:30 »
Since everyone is abandoning Twitter, I thought I'd try Bluesky. It's very easy, even for a social media hold out like me.
My profile name is: @fotovoyager.bsky.social I thought I'd post some of my ongoing photo projects on there, see if there's any point to it (I'm sceptical). Be interested to see if anyone else is doing the same, let me know what your profile names are so I can have somebody to follow! 14

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobestock Review Time« on: September 30, 2024, 06:55 »
I've got 44 non-ai videos waiting a month atm.
Which is a pity, because Adobe are easily the best place to sell videos in terms of download/royalty ratio as far as I can tell. 16
Adobe Stock / Re: New generative AI features are coming to Adobe Stock« on: September 30, 2024, 06:53 »
That's true about the iStock version of this scheme.
I hope I'm proved wrong about other agencies. 17
Adobe Stock / Re: New generative AI features are coming to Adobe Stock« on: September 30, 2024, 01:14 »
I hate to be cynical but the history of the stock agency - artist relationship should be screaming a warning to you all. Theres no way the source material for an AI edited download will be paid at the same rate as a traditional download. Theyll call it something that sounds like its not a proper download and pay you a fraction of what you were getting before. Its always worked like that, this will be no different. We will wail and gnash our teeth in frustration and then accept our powerlessness just like every time before.

Adobe Stock / Re: New generative AI features are coming to Adobe Stock« on: September 26, 2024, 09:03 »
The missing piece of information is the amount that youre going to be paid for using images or video as a starting point for AI modification.
It could be a very low amount. Or not. 19

General Stock Discussion / Vertical video on Pond5 and AdobeStock« on: August 27, 2024, 03:08 »
I've recently started to upload video to Pond5 and AdobeStock (under the username filmVoyager, if anyone's interested), but neither seem to display vertical video well.
I'm assuming this is a growing segment for media viewed on phones so I'm surprised these agencies don't display them to their best advantage; iStock / Getty do. Am I doing something wrong during the submission process to have them shown properly, or is it just a not-yet-resolved tech error for P5 and AS? 21
Selling Stock Direct / Re: Where does Chinese and Indians get their stock footage?« on: August 12, 2024, 12:09 »Lol, 'russian propoganda'? Are you not aware of what is 'really' going on? 'Ukraine' is transferring literally "trillions" of dollars to a small group of pyschopaths that organized convid (never was a 'virus', still isn't - poisons were in the masks/tests/etc designed to manipulate ppl into getting permanently poisoned + more, as well as attempt to close small businesses and transfer customers to big box retailers)... General Stock Discussion / Re: iStock and Getty confusion« on: June 15, 2024, 03:57 »
There's a separate application procedure for submitting as a Getty photographer.
Exclusive images that past muster are mirrored to the Getty collections though. 23
General Stock Discussion / Re: what was microstock like back in the day?« on: April 20, 2024, 10:47 »
For many years the general rule for me was a dollar per image per month.
For lifestyle shooters it would have been much more. Those days are long gone. 24

General Stock Discussion / Re: New Payoneer 3% Fee withdrawal to european bank account« on: January 02, 2024, 14:54 »
FYI PayPal won't let you transfer your balance, even when it's in US$, to a non-American US$ account, I tried it every which way in the UK and I presume it'll be the same in the Euro region.
