Hard to say really ... I've been on Shutterstock since 2006, I've gotten used to getting those 38c per subscription download and now get some as low as 10 cents and some as high as $1.72. more single&other sales as well. Also 1/3 so far is from enhanced downloads, so could be treated as anomaly (lifelong earnings it's just ~5%).

It all depends on London remaining the financial capital of Europe. If the banks, insurance companies, large portion of the stock exchange move to continental Europe, UKs done.

Sales are back (sort of) and views are back to normal again

I wouldn't say there's a very strong correlation (green line is views and red is downloads, both weekly), but an unusually high number of views and an unprecedented lack of downloads is a bit concerning.

Over the weekend I had my first day without a sale @Fotolia and only one little subscription purchase in two days. You could say that it's just bad luck, but at the same time my images' view count tripled. So .... views up and no sales?

It would be a positive thing if the huge increases in content were coming from people starting out in this business. There was this Russian site that gathered data on port sizes and number of new contributors and I remember that the number of new people joining Shutterstock was falling already in 2011 and 2012. I'm afraid that a large part of the new content is coming from teams and companies that were able to make use of the economy of scale and will be able to take larger and larger chunks of the market.

Pretty much my thoughts this year. I've been with SS, my biggest earner, since 2006 and I was able to increase my earnings up until this year. Generally Fotolia is the only site where I see a consistent drop in income, despite regular uploading on my side. Why would I support that Dollar Club thing? Undercutting your core business doesn't make much sense to me.

The green graph shows my monthly number of downloads and the red line is showing earnings. The peak for both values was more or less when I became 'gold'. I experienced a drop in sales (and also in the 7 days rank - my relative position) when I got to Gold. Still working my way to emerald, but I already slipped from my 100-120 7 day rank position to the current 290. It's the only site where my sales are dropping significantly despite uploading regularly.

I asked support about this and they told me that I should "pull the total from my profile". Which is a bit surprising since I used to get a 1042-S from Fotolia. I received the answer from UK Fotolia, so If for some reason they started to handle the transactions under UK law shouldn't they stop withholding taxes?

With the $96 SOD I can't stay mad at you Shutterstock.  Apologies accepted

Would it be possible in the future to combine Shutterstock review process with Offset. For a chosen group of contributors reviewers would be able to pick some of the images submitted to Shutterstock and move them over to Offset. For years I have always submitted my fresh content to Shutterstock in the first place, so that would also allow me to supply exclusive content.
Just out of curiosity ... how many of the lucky few that currently contribute to Offset were Shutterstock contributors ? It looks like you are looking mainly for people outside of micro.

2 years @Alamy? You're comparing apples and oranges. The fact that you don't get enough earnings doesn't mean they need two years to process the payout. I get paid every month (within the first 10 days of a given month). No surprises there. On most sites it looks like an automated (or semiautomated) process. Fotolia makes me think someone has to do it by hand. I'm just talking about the unpredictability and the fact they don't have any strict rules when are you getting paid (besides the 50 credits limit).

For at least a year now I have to wait 7-10 days, sometimes longer. I wish they would just switch to a regular monthly payout schedule.

Usually March and November were best months for stock. Last November was good, but not great and so far I don't think March is going to be a record breaker despite the fact I'm uploading regularly. The fact that there are 10 weekend days this month doesn't help either.
