I recently had one image at Dreamstime that got this rejection. It was a photograph and not an illustration. The thumbnail looked fine, but I guess it got corrupted during upload. I thought about emailing support, because on Dreamstime the corrupted image also affects the approval ratio. But since it was only one image I didn't bother.

Cutcaster / Re: Sales at CutCaster« on: December 10, 2008, 19:31 »
I have spoken with John before and he was quick to reply and very helpful. I have only had one sale there, but more pleased with it than crestock's 25 cent sales. If crestock sold wicked awesome like Shutterstock it would be great, but a 25 cent sale every week is hardly anything to smile about. Oh well, it's my fault for keep uploading.

Mine have been like that for months. It takes a few weeks before any views and sales, and then that batch starts selling. Every batch I have to wait quite a long time before they have views, but they do show up.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Files from ftp not showing again??« on: December 10, 2008, 12:09 »
Sent another small batch this morning. They showed up shortly after. The batch from yesterday still wasn't there so I reuploaded for the 3rd time, and a short time later they also appeared. So it appears all is well now.

Dreamstime.com / Files from ftp not showing again??« on: December 09, 2008, 16:34 »
I uploaded a batch by ftp this morning and they still aren't in the "unfinished files" section. I thought maybe I skipped Dreamstime when I was uploading to all the sites so I tried again this afternoon and they still aren't there.
Is it just me? 107

General Stock Discussion / Re: Yuri's Girlfriend is single!?!?!« on: December 09, 2008, 07:24 »about 3-4 weeks ago I was having a surf, and followed links along and a popup windows appear (turned the popup blocker backon since) anyway, close window and a new one appears, again and again, after a few of these I am on a page for 'enlargement' products and there is about 5 photos of couples giving the testimony of how well it works. Thought it was bloody funny when I'd had a few and recognised all the models from stockYeah, when I first started microstock I never realized just how many ads use microstock to sell something the model doesn't relate in real life. I'm still waiting to see an advertisement of myself advertising some embarassing condition, phobia, or pill. ![]() 109

It must have happened sometime today then, 'cause I was uploading yesterday too and it put the description in the title field.

I just noticed I didn't have to delete my description in fotolia for each uploaded image. The system now retrieves the title correctly.

General Stock Discussion / Got Paid From Inmagine?!« on: November 13, 2008, 10:04 »
I logged into my paypal account and noticed I received a payment for $58.78 from the company www.inmagine.com
I've never sent pictures to them so I was really shocked. I realize that they are affiliated with 123rf, but I also thought that any sales made by them would show up in my 123rf account, sort of like stockxpert and photos.com Anyone else have this experience? I'm sure there must be. 115

SnapVillage.com / I Like Snapvillage« on: September 21, 2008, 00:18 »![]() I just wanted to share something I just noticed and find quite amusing. .....drumroll..... ![]() Snapvillage adds their own keywords to your lame excuse of a list you supplied. Here is an image of mine. Snapvillage added the words "overworked, one man, one person, half length, half-length, in the park, laying down, crash, crashed, and crashing" I believe I added the others that are listed. I do find it a pain in the @$$ to upload to them five at a time, but their reviewers do a quick and decent job on their end. Especially since they come up with more keywords for you. Kudos to Snapvillage. ![]() All you others let me know what you think of this. Also I think it would be interesting if people posted the keywords Snapvillage added to your picture that you wouldn't have added yourself. 117
Off Topic / Crooked Bush (Attn: Leaf)« on: September 03, 2008, 15:17 »![]() I know Leaf grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada and there happens to be a little known place there called "The Crooked Bush", about half an hour from North Battleford. This bush is more like a bunch of trees. It is a small area of land where the trees grow sideways, then up, then down, then sideways and up again and down, etc. Basically they are all crooked! I was there last summer and thought it was pretty cool. It is an area of land maybe 200 feet by 200 feet (just a guess), but outside of this area all the same trees grow normally. Rumor has it this land has mystical powers or some other such tale. So now for my questions... 1. Have you ever been there Leaf? 2. Does anyone have any "weird" phenomenons in their area that don't have an obvious explanation? I do have pictures, but they are backed up on disc. If anyone wants to see the bush I will dig them out. 118
General Stock Discussion / Re: Age as a keyword?« on: September 02, 2008, 20:10 »
Thanks for the comments guys! I have never consistently used age as a keyword, but will now start. I was afraid just having a number in the list would look out of place and may get the image rejected. (Well you never know anyways)

General Stock Discussion / Age as a keyword?« on: September 01, 2008, 21:47 »
I was reading the forum at Dreamstime and came across this one...
http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_10701 I was wondering what everyone does over here. If you shoot a child, do you put their age as a keyword? If you do, do you put "ten" or "10"? And finally, do you think any agencies would reject a picture for this keyword(s) for incorrect or unneeded keywords? Thanks for your thoughts. 121
General Stock Discussion / Shutterstock Hiring Question« on: August 07, 2008, 11:18 »
Hi all,
I see Shutterstock is looking for an Image Reviewer (posted on the forum), but I was wondering if anyone here knows aproximately how much money you can make from doing this. A little known secret is that I applied to be a keymaster at Dreamstime quite a while back and I found it difficult to make more than $5 or $6 per hour. Needless to say I quit as there are many other ways to make as much if not more. (McDonalds for one.) I figure Image Reviewers must make quite a bit more, but don't know for sure. Please if anyone knows or has a comment, give a shout! 122
General Stock Discussion / I'm a Douche Bag« on: June 25, 2008, 15:06 »

General Stock Discussion / Re: You wanna know about what I have? Let me get it off my chest.« on: April 24, 2008, 14:07 »
Hi everyone,
I'm sure I'm included in this "hating posts complaining about rejections", because I posted the "My Take 123rf thread". I never really thought about how letting people know some rejection stats on a site might reflect my overall photography skills. From now on I will not say anything about rejections, as I agree that they are a big part of the market. If this thread has nothing to do with me, then just know either way I took nothing to heart. ![]() p.s., Miz I love your posts, you always speak your mind. Are you the same in person or just online? 124
123RF / My take on 123rf« on: April 21, 2008, 09:50 »
I know I am pretty new to this. I'm the typical guy who loves to take pictures and have all his family say how good they are. Over the course of a few months I have come to realize that they don't really know much about the technical aspects of photography. They don't notice some of the harsh shadows or blown highlights.
As for 123rf, I have come to the conclusion that they must be cracking down on their acceptance criteria because I used to get EVERYTHING accepted, and I do mean everything. Some of my early stuff seems really horrible. Anyways out of 156 photos this month I have 76 approved, 37 pending, and 43 rejected. The rejection ratio is much higher than usual. The recent rejections could be from taking pictures outside, instead of in my home studio where I have a little learned a little more control on taking pics. I suppose everyone receives more rejections when leaving their comfort zone... but how else do you get better. Do you receive more rejections when yuo change your shooting style? What's your take on 123rf as far as recent rejections? 125
