No problem here yesterday...  never had one at BigStock.   8)=tom

Wait and see? That's what I've really been trying to say.

The heck with photography... let's talk about this fantastic smiley face beer toasting icon...
now that's superb, sir!! LOL  8)=tom

btw...  I left my pix on StockXpert and didn't crash out because I was told my stuff was being migrated over.  As of today, they still aren't there as is none of my junk from IS.   go figure...

Newbie Discussion / Re: newbie and feeling despondent...
« on: February 15, 2010, 17:24 »

Perhaps some kind soul can point me in the right direction for learning the tools for getting some pics accepted, as the stock sites themselves remain mysteriously vague, like I'm applying for membership into the quakers or some secret sect...lol

Modster... you came to the right place!!  There are some very, very accomplished 'Togs here and they are very willing and happy to lend a hand to newbies!!   Welcome to the club!!
Don't give up.  Rejection is part of the game and it happens to all of us, even the very best (of which I do not profess to be :D).  8)=tom

Maybe they merged review teams?

Don't know.  I've always had a good acceptance results at both SS & BigStock.  ... who knows...
It doesnt stop me.. I'm still uploading to both.
I learned real fast years ago that rejection is part of the every day scheme of things in micro. I don't take it personal and really in the big picture,  couldn't care less.    But sometimes,  I will sit for a moment, stare at a rejected pic and..........  wonder.  I'm not upset... just clueless... ha ha ha.
No biggie. They're selling elsewhere, I was just trying to up my sales  ( and SS's too- as said, if IS can sell them,  figured SS could too).  Guess not.   Hope they like the next batch!!  LOL   8)=tom

I have multiple back ups of all my 'work'  photography (DVD, Flash, redundant hard drives).  Family stuff I print up..but don't do it myself.   For me.. it's cheaper to send it to Shutterfly or someone.  Print carts are getting outrageously expensive and... short on ink.  They last for crap far as I'm concerned... both my HP and Epson... print a half dozen 8x10's and the things telling me I need new carts.  I switched to 6 tank system hoping to get better yields...   but no. ...
If I need prints,  I go to a commercial lab.  8)=tom

p.s.  I learned the hard way.  I the last 2 years I have lost 3... yes 3 maxtor external drives.  I don't buy maxtor any longer.

107
.....all I can say about SS reviewers is,  I've had a boatload of rejections the past two weeks all for   "bad lighting"...   sad thing is...  all the  images I submitted  sell on IS.... that's why I uploaded them.
I look at the pix and just shake my head... bad lighting?
oh well, to each his own.  I just figured... they sell on IS...  also,  many of them have been on BigStock for some time...   who knows?   guess all of a sudden I suck  or maybe just now after 4 years they want to tell me I've sucked all along, they were just being kind.   LOL   8)=tom

You can login if you try several times here: http://www.stockxpert.com/balance, not on the main page.

thanks,  that finally worked... but there's no info there.  I got email saying my stuff was being moved to ThinkStock... but it's still not there.  That is why I didn't cashout.  Now... well... i'm waiting on a reply from support..   we'll see.   8)=tom

StockXpert.com / Re: Confused
« on: February 03, 2010, 17:15 »
Confusing isnt quite a strong enough word.  This kind of situation should not exist from the likes of a major corp like Getty.   Someone should have their backside fired.

This is either the worst case of incompetence I've seen in a looooooong time..  or... it is purposefully being done.   which is it?   neither is a good senario... 8)=tom

StockXpert.com / Re: RIP Stockxpert...
« on: February 03, 2010, 17:08 »
Doesn't logging into StockXpert to get our earnings seem sort of backwards.  Why wouldn't we log into ThinkStockPhotos.com to get our earnings if that is the only place our StockXpert images are being sold.

amen... I said elsewhere,  trying to get your money (without deleting your StockXpert account)  is a fiasco. This is one of the worst transitions I've ever seen a business go thru.  One would expect better organization from an outfit as large and old as Getty..        or... is it meant to be a royal pain in the elbow?

Why not just close my StockXpert account?    I've been on IS since 2007,  I was opted in at StockXpert and I got mail saying that I WAS  migrated to ThinkStock.  However,  I've yet to find me there.  I'll give it a few days yet. 8)=tom

« on: February 03, 2010, 17:04 »
(If I recall correctly, the deal is that iStock dumps slow sellers onto Thinkphoto.)
I spent an hour at thinkstock, looking as a buyer, and also looking into my niche. k.

The keywording is a joke.  I couldbn't believe the nonsense that comes up that has nothing to do with the keyword...   as a buyer... I wouldn't even go there..  8)=tom

« on: February 02, 2010, 21:48 »
Friend of mine who is a pro shooter (like many do) carries around a P&S all the time.  He's got the G10 and it impressed the heck out of me.  Does darn near everything my 5D Mk II can... LOL..  I understand the G11 is supposed to be even better.  I liked it so much, I'm picking one up and retiring the old  A620 8)=tom

I have the same questions about final payout.  Here's an StockXpert forum thread.  No answer there yet:

http://www.stockxpert.com/forum/show_messages/27371

I haven't had any sales at all for JIU in February.  Has anyone else?  I assumed they were closed down...

no JUI sales and I usually have them... I only have  one  StockXpert sale, yesterday.  8)=tom

Maybe it's me.. but this whole transfer earnings, migration of port, sub in sub out.. blah blah blah...  has my head spinning.

I have a port on iStock since 2007.  I am opted in for subs on IS and StockXpert.  I got mail saying that some of my stuff was migrated to TS... yet I can't find a single pic.
I tried transfering my StockXpert earnings to my IS account and got nowhere... run in circles click here, click here, click here, go nowhere...
I am so happy today that I took a payout from StockXpert a couple weeks ago.. but I have more sales sitting there.  I dont want another  LO  fiasco where you cant get your money..   On the other hand... if I understand it right,  I can get a final cashout now of any amount... BUT  that will delete my StockXpert account.
My dilemma...  I'm I  REALLY migrated to TS and just can't find it... Is the migration still not complete...  Was the mail telling me I was migrated in error... will I never be migrated even though I was an opted in 'tog on StockXpert and have an IS port .. because they think all my images are not unique...??????

What the...?      This whole thing could have been a thousand times simpler in transition....    I hope things clear up in a couple days.    8)=tom

as Race pointed , they want IS standard, but something more.
i think that's good news. it's a new decade, and i for one welcome StockXpert 's rebirth.

Well... not that what you say isnt true..to a degree it may very well be true.
However,  I just punched in a thread about an hour ago reviving this topic....
As said on that thread,  I just experimented with an upload there, havent uploaded there since mid of last year or so.   The three images were rejected.  One,  'not interested".  The other two,  a dining room table and a brick sidewalk  rejected for need of a property release.
My point.  I have all three images in my IS port.  So in my particular case with these particuar images... this doesnt apply.
I'm wondering if they are 'shutting down'  people that already have an IS port???  Is that stupid thinking?  ...or paranoia...  LOL  8)=tom

117
sounds like I'm in the minority...   I rarely had rejections there...  these kind of threw me for a loop...  and I never waited that long for a review...

How many of you are with IS as well?  Think it has anything to do with that? 8)=tom

That is until they pull them for the bowls or plates design.
.

You're joking... however... another of Getty's children (StockXpert) just shot me down on a dining room table ... they wanted a property release.   8)=tom

Things sure have changed there. I havent uploaded there for ages. Thought I'd give it a go,  see how it went.
Didn't go too well.  Uploaded on Jan 18,  just got reveiwed today, 29th { I used to see a review in a matter of hours at StockXpert}.   Only sent them 3 pix. All three large sellers on other sites.
All three rejected.  I'm no stranger to rejections and 99.9999999%  of the time, I couldn't care less about them.
One a shot of a fieldstone bridge in winter. Thanks. Not interested. No problem, I can dig that.  No biggie.
However,  the second shot was of a dining room table, the third a shot of a brick sidewalk.   Both rejected for need of a property release.  A property release for a table and a sidewalk???   I know I've been out of action for 9 months, but...    what changed?  8)=tom

I closed my account early in 2009..   sales were lousy...  and I couldn't stand the way the accounting of sales was handled on the site...    8)=tom

123
I'm still gettting sales at StockXpert but not like I was.....  I uploaded just 3 pix over a week ago...   still not reviewed....   used to get reviewed in a matter of hours after an upload...    now...    ptttttzzzzzzz.

To answer the question....  I WOULD ABSOLUTELY GIVE IT A SHOT...  I liked StockXpert under our old friend... and hope he does get a new site up and running!!  I'm needing some fresh avenues.  8)=tom
