Newbie here.

What is best way for uploading to multiple agencies on a Mac OS platform?

I downloaded Stockuploader the other day and it just crashed immediately, this scared me so I didn't try again - does it work?

I'm also trying/dabbling with Lightburner - quite confusing and badly documented - is it worth persevering with - any hints/tips?

I'm not interested in using a pay service (can't afford it).

All my Keywording etc is already sorted (in Lightroom) so just looking for an uploader.

Is it just as easy to simply use a FTP program that can access multiple servers simultaneously?
If so, which Mac program can do this?

i have had a few reports from people that had a crash on theyr system and i am currently investigating this. the program is totally safe and is used by many photographers. even "big" players like rixie on shutterstock who actually is a beta tester. if the program would be Dangerous or whatever then i would have my site blacklisted in notime given the high number of downloads. so far including you its 3 people having this problem.

if you wish to help me find a solution to this problem please PM me the crash report you get. if no, then just wait and i promise i will let you know when this problem gets fixed.. today i released version 1.1, you can try that one if it works for you. there are many people actively using it and maybe someone will reply here to tell you its all ok..

if you have any question about stockuploader please feel free to ask.. nothing to hide.. and if you have a skilled friend, please ask him to analize the software and you'll see that its all ok..

ps: there is an alternative to stockuploader called "go-stock" created by another guy here on the forums. you might want to give it a try.

just tested it and fotolia works fine for me.if you subscribe to the forum on stockuploader i will add you as a beta tester, so i can give you a version where we get more informations about the problems.

ok will look into it tonight when i am back home!

also be sure to check that your username and password are correct! this is how login is generated by fotolia:

Ftp: submit.fotolia.com
Username: you get a code generated by fotolia here http://it.fotolia.com/Member/FtpUploadContent
password: your site login followed by your site password. (ex. usernamepassword)

hi luis!

there is no need to remove the images.. just right click in the table and chose "remove all checks for this image" or something along that lines. if no checkboxes are checked for an image, then the file will not be uploaded to any agency.

a new version for Windows will be released this weekend. thanks for letting me know about the abort button, will check it prior to release!  if you need further help dont hesitate to ask!

Stockuploader - The one-stop uploader for all your sites.

Stockuploader is a versatile Ftp file uploader for stock photographers and aims to streamline your workflow, to enable you to spend more time creating and less time uploading. Whether you upload photos, vectors, movies or audio, Stockuploader can do the job with just a few clicks and can be customized to include Model Releases and Property Releases alongside your main files.

Stockuploader stores all of your sensitive data locally on your Mac, and does not send or share any information either with Stockuploader or any Third Parties. Not only is it safe and secure but it is also completely free. It is easy to set-up and customize to your exact needs - just follow the instructions and you will be ready to upload in no time.

Getting started:

Once you have downloaded the program, go to file > new and open the Agency Configuration tab. Click on the Add New Agency button.

Starting from the left, under the Agency Name, double click to insert the agency name or initials as required.

On the right, input the Agency Ftp address, along with your username and password, in the appropriate boxes.

In the Filter box, you can decide on the file types you wish to attach to the agency you are creating, and delete any that are inappropriate - that way, you won�t upload the wrong file type in error. Please note that the filter is case sensitive.

The Order box determines the order in which your agencies will be shown on the upload page and must be numeric. You don�t have to worry about creating the Agencies in the right order and can rearrange to suit changing needs.

If your agencies require you to add model/property releases via a separate folder, create a second agency with the path to the release folder. To make things easier, you could even rename your model releases to .JPG (capitals), and instruct that �agency� to only accept .JPG files - it�s useful that the Filter is case sensitive!

Once you have input all of your agencies and customized to your specific needs, go to file > save and save your agencies file wherever you wish then close the program. When you restart the program, all your sites will automatically load and you can start uploading.

Uploading:

This is the easy part! Open the Upload tab and you will see all your agencies listed across the top in the order you specified.

Click on Add Images, locate and select the file or files you wish to upload and click on Open. The table will populate, depending on the file type selected and the preferences you selected in the Agency Configuration but you can further customize here if you wish.

You have the choice to select File priority, (file 1 will upload to all selected agencies before moving on to file 2), or Agency priority, (where all files will upload to Agency 1 before moving on to Agency 2).

Push the Upload button and Stockuploader will do the rest. The progress bar will let you know when the job is done.

guys, today i released version 1.5.1. this version is teh final version for the time being because today i started the development of a mac version with xcode so its native mac Language..

i hope the first beta will be ready soon.

just as an additional information, since version 1.5 there is the referral sharing module that lets you share inside of the program your referral links for free. you basically show your referral links inside teh program to all the users using it. the module loads a random link for each submitted agency. so if you submit quickly you will have more visibility till there are not too many registered. feedbacks are welcome as Always!

 please update your copy to reflect the new url. today i worked on transferring the site, Tomorrow i will start working on version 1.5.

 i would need 2 volunteers for beta testing and one volunteer as moderator on the support forum.

 new version (1.5) will have these added features:

 -ask for confirmation if the program is closed while uploading
 -working referral Exchange module
 -error messages on failing uploads
 -multiple uploads (not sure yet)
 -display upload speed
 -possibility to opt out from the webpage stats and the referral exchange program. (single checkbox to opt out from both)
 -support forum embedded in the program
 -new presentation video

I dont think its keen to track traffic through your program and then ask for the person to reveal him/herself to give you feedback. In my opinion you have no business in knowing who uploaded how many files.

The reason I am not using your program or want to try it is because you track numbers. I dont care if thats not important data or not, you still have your program communicate with my PC so you can track more than only numbers. I am not sure if you tell people in the tos that this program feeds back data to you. And you should also put in a opt out button for people who dont want to share that data.

I assume your program is not highly protected from hacking and maybe someone with bad intentions can inject malicious code onto a PC  using that same communication you have set up to get the number of files uploaded using your software.

I was rereading this and would like to more carefully answer this post. ALL sensitive data is saved in a sqlite database that is on your computer! That data is used to connect directly to the agencies without passing throug my site. This can be verified by anybody with some programming skills. The program loads a url after any upload to let the webpage know that there has been an uploa, but does not tell by who or anything like that. Actually it is as if somebody would write an anonymous letter telling "i uploaded!" in fact filezilla and other ftp programs are saving your acess data in plain text files accessible by any hacker. The sqlite file is not encrypted (yet) but a hacker wouldnt even search for such a file in the first place... Hope this clearifies some doubts! It you have more please ask!
