As Hatman said, Istock is a longer term investment. I too had similar issues with them at the start but found sales picked up after the first few months and have been consistently my number 2 for over 7 months now with my number 3 getting only one third the total income of Istock over the space of that time. Otherwise you pretty much got it

10 months and 5354 d/ls, SS has been doing pretty poorly for me in last few months

Shutterstock 33% (down from Feb) iStock 27% (down from Feb) Fotolia 12% (up from Feb) Dreamstime 8% (up from Feb) 123 RF 15% (up from Feb + BME) Stock Expert 4% (up from Feb)
Monthly Growth -16% BME -47%
Overall pretty poor income wise due to both SS and IS pulling total figures down, though did manage to grow 123rf and Fotolia sales.

Personally from among seven sites that I contribute to, I find 123rf the most consistent thus moving into my third best seller, after SS and IS and knocking DT into fourth. While I didn't add any new images for four months (Oct 07 to Jan 08) , 123 seemed the site least affected by this...

I'm curious how this pans out for everyone else. I've only been seriously contributing to microstock for just over seven months and thus far my worse has been December.

![](http://www.meder.net/images/Oct07stat.gif) Nice growth at iStock and 123rf, not so great at SS, StockXpert (Fotolia still dropping) while Dreamstime steady. Overall still a BME but need to shoot more stock next month to pick SS up.

I completely love my 40d and never regret selling my 30d to help fund this purchase..

I am sure other manufacturers do this, but this is particularly about Canon.
The recommended price for the Canon 40D in the USA is $1299, and in Australia it is $1999.
The Australian dollar has hovered at 90 US cents for months, and it is now 92 cents. Based on that, the price in Australia should be around $1400 Australian dollars for the 40D.
This is an unethical practice called skimming. They do it all the time in Australia, and wonder why people buy stuff overseas and import.
I got mine from NZ and I live in Oz, for $1450.00 body only

![](http://www.meder.net/images/Sep07stat.gif) September 07 was an interesting month for me. ShutterStock had it's first time ever drop in growth of -10% and it was only for the high growth of my iStock sales that I scrapped in with a +19% BME (which has also been my lowest BME since I commenced with microstock back in May 07). Fotolia continued its slippery fall while 123RF, DT and SXE all had moderately decent sales months and growth. To be honest I was expecting September to be better as according to what I read this was the month that most people usually experience the biggest growth in sales. For me this thus far remains August where I had a BME of +44%. However having said that I am glad that iStock took up the slack and helped me get over mark.

I've got 60 or so images there but decided pretty early on they were a waste of time to be honest
