I think it has to do something with Andorra being the first on the list of countries... Actually for a while my SS account was set to Andorra, I didn't know how it happened, just noticed it one day. And after that for months I actually couldn't care to change it
It's 4th behind Afghanistan, Algeria, and Albania, but it makes sense that it's just an accident.
Anyway, silly me..., for a moment I was afraid that Putin had occupied lovely Andorra too, and now most of Andorra is Russian.
True, it's not the first. Could be something with the listbox... I haven't think it through well with the alphbetical order of counties. I just remember that some time after SS introduced this new kind of profile page thing i discovered that my location was set to Andorra somehow
I don't think buyers check our profiles anyways. For a while SS used to have a counter for profile views. I was getting 1 or 2 per week while selling 500-600 photos weekly
I'm going to check my profile now.

Nothing new sells for me.
Sorry to hear that I know you do good work.

Same happened to me as well, they are rejecting 90% of content saying similar. Same work has been approved 100% in other agencies. Something is seriously wrong with SS.
Same for me, if anything looks close it's similar gets rejects. Some are very different views but that doesn't matter. Reject. They may stop the spam but they are also cutting our good uploads that could sell.

rejections are not a problems..the problems is the collapsing of sale over 38 cent...rpd is collapsing...i don't care if they reject something....all in all most new content don'tsell at all because nobody is so idiot to search for new files...make any search first with new then with relevant...who in the world would mess looking for a usable file using the new tabs?...the problem is 99 % of sale are sub. and not only here in general...i'm up 35 % sale in all agency down 200 % in terms of dollar so far...i need 10 times more images sold than last year to match the dollar. time to ficus n rm for agency like westend and offset...microstock is collapsing.
You just discovered that? What a genius. 7 years and you just saw the problem.

But you'll admit the new images do get a big position boost right? I see the opposite of that. Although i dont subscribe to the "images need to age" theory but i get far more selling and starting to be consistent months after upload rather than days or weeks.
Previously (ie 5+ years ago) new images got a short term massive boost but if they failed to sell in that short, few day period they rapidly lost position and disappeared. That isn't the case now (at least not what i see).
The boost is depending on how many new come after your new with the same keywords. Common subjects will get replaced faster then uncommon.

Now they are really overdoing it. I made one image where the object is isolated on white and one image where the object is in snow and a snowball is next to it. Where is that similar? I had the image with snow and the snowball rejected for similar. I have never made similar images like others where I couldn't even see the difference in the photos unless I looked at it for 10 minutes.
I do mostly editorial video and I am sure it's an AI/software application that's screening their massive database of 600 million files for similar content and rejecting it or flagging it for the reviewer to reject, I don't even know if SS has human reviewers anymore, could all be AI for all we know.
All I know is if pretty much any part of the images in the video are similar to anything already on the site it now gets rejected, I went from about 10% rejection to 90% rejection.
They most definitely are conserving server space.
They totally use an IA algorithm, but i dont think the dont have any human working for the review process; maybe just a few for very specific tasks.
If the algorithm is a learning algorithm or it is updated based in new information, maybe the experience for us will be more friendly in the future...
What's IA and do you know this because you know somebody, or you see the software or insider information? Do you work for SS or is this a guess.

Legal, but not good business. The vast majority of those are available online as free large scans. They haven't even been edited for quality.
Maybe you should email SS and get them to hire you to run their business.

Sean I have been to all those places. Very high taxes, some have free health care but poor care. Many of those people with money come to America to get great heath care. Even Mic Jagger came to California to get his heart worked on. He is from the UK and they have really poor free health care. Not even sure if Mic would have been cover because of his old age in the UK. Sean it seems you clearly like Socialism in America. That is your right. For me Socialism is just a pre- word for communism. Sean is the world going to come to an end in twelve years for our abuse of the pollution in the world. You don't even need to answer that, AOC says it will come to an end.....We all know AOC is so smart...
Secede. Seriously. Get by on $1 back for $1 paid in tax. New York gets back only 80, yet THAT'S where MicK Jagger went for his heart operation. My mother lay in the hallway on a gurney for 24 hours when she went to the emergency room...in New Jersey. She was seriously injured by subpar medical care...right here in the USA. Right here in the USA, where getting subpar medical care not only injures you but also bankrupts you. These are the countries with the best medical care:
Canada Qatar France Norway New Zealand Germany Hong Kong The Netherlands Switzerland Singapore Luxembourg Japan Sweden
The U.S. ranks #37.
Coincidentally enough, Texas ranks #37 in health care in the U.S. Maybe that's why Jagger didn't go to Texas for his operation.
Why didn't he get his operation in the UK if the care is better there and free?

september begin worst than august and august was not the best month across all agency.
Since April something clearly has been "off" across several agencies and across all genres of content so I think with it being so sudden it might very well be the global economy reading into recession and that affects all industries directly or indirectly and with everyone from individuals to businesses being so massively in debt right now it's not pretty.
Every agency is suddenly making changes, Pond5 obviously, Storyblocks and now SS is seriously limiting what you can upload onto their servers, it is a similar video or photo to what is already on the site it is rejected so they suddenly care about server space although they are presenting it as caring about the customer experience.
Have to get creative and busy making new content and promoting the heck out of it everywhere.
i doubt being creative will make a big difference in micro stock world....you can be creative but too many garbage files....for me it's clear that most sales are made through popular tab, nobody search for new files in that mess of garbages they accepted since 2017....my sales are mostly related to files older than 2017, nothing new sells and they are better content i was sure they had a market...since they reduced tabs to 2 instead to 3 new files sales are simply non existent...i would like the add a chosen by staff files, so new files with good character could have a chance to sell.. the rpd of files uploaded in 2018 and 2019 for me are simply terrible while 2017 i have already passe the 1,5 dollar for each file uploaded. in 2018 and 2019 we are near 0,1 cent. after 2017 they opened the gates et voila. in addiction for me free stuff is impacting more and more, why you can criticize customer? they go to unsplash and find much better and creative stuff than 99% of files you see in micro, for free...i saw file downloaded 10 millions times...and those are money taken away by micro stock.
When did you start?

Is there ANY WAY on ESP to see at a glance how much sales were in a month?
I know there is one column (Premium Access and RF - whatever these might be in the real world!) with just 2 numbers to add together to find the total - but surely somewhere there is a 'grand total' (for want of a better phrase) for the month?
Or not....
In the Royalties tab click on the Summary link, middle of the left hand three links. Your default month start date should currently be July 1st 2019 and the total earned in July is given as 'Payment Amount'.
Thanks but just for info - the glitch with this is that when you don't reach payment (!) it shows zero as it is just a record of monies being paid by them to us and not sales.
Oh, sorry, I didn't cotton onto that. I haven't yet reached that depressing milestone quite yet, but I surely will.
I did. Now takes me 2 or 3 months to reach payout.

Hows that free health in the UK working?
Can't speak for the whole of the UK as I don't know, but here in Scotland it's fine, for now. All prescription medicines are free for everyone. (I don't think that's the case in England)
I should have said that most Scots pay an extra 1% income tax compared to England. Seems to be worth it, so far.
NHS seems very popular. https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2018/03/07/591128836/u-k-hospitals-are-overburdened-but-the-british-love-their-universal-health-care I read last year that emergency was often to busy because of the number of people who came in with hangovers in the morning. Waiting time for surgery was long. Life expectancy is longer in Great Britain than the US. Does that have to do with guns and drugs or health care.

I can't see that it's worth wasting any energy worrying about that bloke who will sink or swim according to the market. And I've seen much worse.
Though I don't care a fig about SS, I do find it worrying that 'owenr1 osemarie' is still rapidly uploading stolen images with false captions.
A recent example: "Tokyo/JAPAN- 06/25/2019 Tokyo 2020, Olympic site construction in process" https://www.shutterstock.com/es/image-photo/tokyojapan-06252019-tokyo-2020-olympic-site-1458093296?src=44wCe6aCMzHL4z_jRXBESg-1-80
Seems to be lifted from Getty: "MONTREAL, QC - NOVEMBER 18: An aerial view of Olympic Stadium and the Biodome and Saputo Stadium and Olympic Park and Olympic Village are seen from above on November 18, 2012 in Montreal, Quebec. (Photo by Tom Szczerbowski/Getty Images)" https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/an-aerial-view-of-olympic-stadium-and-the-biodome-and-news-photo/156799098
I've reported it to Getty, but as I'm not the original author, it'll be informative to see if they'll take any action. Except that we'll never know.
1 Do you think owenr is a coded indication that he's not the owner? (More likely it's a typo for Rosemarie Owen)
Ditto to all that. Thief is still there one more day to win the bet. I don't know why jonbull has a hard on for attacking Joe?

Horrible month. I had to cancel my "affordable" health care coverage (bronze @$400 a month).
The economy is going so well but this year has been just awful for me. I never thought I would have to cancel my health insurance.
I hope you did the math on the tax penalty that would be applied to you for not having insurance and see what the difference is. (I'm assuming you are American)
"The federal tax penalty for not being enrolled in health insurance will be eliminated in 2019 because of recent changes made by the Trump Administration"
It's not fair to force someone to pay for unaffordable health insurance if they really cannot pay it. I honesty can't pay the $400 a month anymore (with 5K deductible). Even if I cancel my cable and put my student loans in deferment it STILL would not cover the premium. Sorry for the off topic rant... It is upsetting so I get fired up.
I didn't know about that penality I have coverage from work. $400 is not affordable. We really need a better plan, but hospitals bill insurance companys over 200% more then the government pays. Hows that free health in the UK working? Why do people from Canada come to the US for care and pay their own.

I WISH I could turn my mountain of old negs into usable material.
Someday someone (like Nividia) may invent an AI scanner that will render crummy negatives and old 4x6 prints into full frame glory. Might take another 10 or 20 years. But I think it will happen. It's certainly within the realm of possibility.
Ditto to that. Thousands of old slides.

Unless something has changed with Adobe, you cant add/remove keywords after an image has been posted.
Not true that's IS. You can only edit one photo at a time on AS.

Hi:
I have a problem with SS. Most of my pictures were accepted with no problem. I have a 1200 port and they used to reject 1/50.
But now, with the same type of pictures, I have a lot more rejections, sometimes 6/10. I din't change anything and they use to reject my landscapes for "out of focus".
Anyone with the same problem?
Maybe they should have rejected more of the 1200.

shutterstock now requires 5 word minimum for all descriptions?
dumb idea
You can't come up with 5 words to describe your photos. Don't you want them found, SS uses the description for search, and that's what Google uses to find matches. SS is trying to make your pictures found and you are against that?

I think the OP needs to write to SS and get their answer. But we're just guessing, until SS is contacted and gives a specific answer.
That would be way too adult, pragmatic, and logical.

Explained clearly for anybody who can read, the exclusive was so they could distribute to Adobe, Vimeostock and maybe others without duplication from our own accounts. I went exclusive because of this added exposure.
