I opted out May last year, I just now received a distribution sale of 12 cents, of which I got to keep 3 cents... How can they still sell my stuff through distribution 13/14 months after opt-out? I know Alamy sales often have long payout times, but THIS long?
If you haven't done so already, email them and ask for an explanation.

Average month (again). But speaking of iStock - No one else got a mail from them with a "special opportunity" offer? I can't be the only one.
Nope.

Pretty poor, but a bit better than May '22 and June '21. No 'lottery win' (big sale), so rpd low at 1.08.

There are comments in the Alamy forum that this is a bug - an obsolete storage program that surfaced when they made the changes for the new 20% royalty rate July 1. Several people say they reported it, but perhaps the more reports the better?

Alamy is reducing commission to 20%?
For any sellers who didn't reach $250 gross in the calendar year leading up to July 1st.

Well if most of us had a low sales volume this month, it could explain why the statements are out so many days before "20". Just saying... - there wasnt so much to calculate?
They usually come out the Friday before the 20th, if it's only a few days earlier. From what I've seen here and elsewhere, just about all the reports are either of very good months or very poor months. Maybe people don't report if they're "about normal".

WMY and 2nd worst month since July 2007. (Only last June was worse) Horrendous rpd: 87c ...and actually only 10% better than Alamy (average is c2.5x Alamy). Compared to April: -59%; compared to May 2021: -60%

I am not talking about stolen images. I am talking about Alamy letting customers download images without paying for them. They can then do with the image whatever they want. And if they actually use the image - in a newspaper, or online - they are supposed to kindly let Alamy know that the downloaded images have been used and only then the image will be reported as sale in your account. Unlike with other agencies on Alamy customers don't have to pay for downloading the image, they only have to pay for using them and Alamy trusts them to tell them when an image has been used. And that - obviously - results in many customers never telling Alamy they have used an image so they don't have to pay for it. It happens all the time, it happens to me as well. From time to time I do an image search with my name and Alamy and then I send links to all images that I never saw sales for in my account to Alamy and then they start hunting down the buyers demanding to pay for the images. I found images of mine credited to Alamy in articles that were over a year old and the images were never reported as used, thus I never saw a sale for them and never got my money and even after reporting this to Alamy it took months and several mails inquiring about it to finally have the sales registered and get my money. I think this "pay on a trust basis"-method is unacceptable. What other bussiness does that? "Hey, you can take this apple with you and if you get home and decide to eat it, you can come back and pay me."
^^^ and when they (at least 'Old Alamy') finally bill them, it's at the lower rate of today rather than the higher rate which applied at the time they bought the image. Where's the incentive to report a file? Hopefully, New Alamy seems to be a bit more proactive than Old Alamy was in hunting down infringements, but still, it takes time. In mid-March I reported an editorial file sold for PU which I found on a commerical website. About five weeks later, I got an email telling me the website use was by the buyer and they would chase it up, but I'm still waiting ...

Out of traditional stock agencies, Alamy, have always been very cordial to me.
I still have a love/hate relationship with them though! This month is more hate as I'm "owning the blank page" with 0 earnings.
I agree with Alex. While Alamy contributor share is down to 40% or lower for distributors, I still make more money there than SS or AS. They accept everything. Uploads are easy and accepted instantly. They have a forum of helpful people. e-mails to contributor relations are answered. What's not to like?
I make a lot less on Alamy than I do on iS, with more files on Alamy, but that doesn't make iS a great site for contributors. They all seem to look at each other and copy the ways they screw us.

Getty was trying to raise iStock's prices, but SS held theirs down, years before that.
When did Getty try to raise prices? Was that when they killed everything and went to no levels, no tiers, just 15% forever? Or are you talking about something for exclusives? Surely not for the common folks.
I can't remember the timing vis a vis the tiers revision, but there was a time I was averaging just under $7 rpd (as a low-tier exclusive) and others were averaging well over $8 a licence. Looked back at my records, and these figures were from 2014-2016. Everything started to go far south for me in Jan 2017. (My highest earning year was 2012, when my rpd average was c$4.75, but many more licences sold.)

i understand paedophilia, but why . would you think lesbianism would break internet rule? i guess systemic homophobia is a thing.
homophobia is alive and well
Newly rejuvenated, the right wing is poised to make transphobia and homophobia cornerstones of the midterms and 2024 elections, with promises to deliver dont say gay legislation in states including Michigan and New York.. [snip] https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/apr/28/lgbtq-rights-us-dont-say-gay
And, y'know, then there are guns, which the right wing has no interest in addressing. Land of the Free? Home of the Brave, for sure.

When Adobe remade their tiers three years ago and increased payments for most contributors, I was excited and thought it would push other stock companies to increase their payments or at least not decrease them. Then along came Shutterstock less than a year later with their cuts
Getty was trying to raise iStock's prices, but SS held theirs down, years before that.

Is there anyway to exclude sales to China?
No, there isn't.
Luckily, I don't get many of these 2c sales to China - but I had one refunded!!!

Relatively strong month here. Question: when we see an image is downloaded on Getty, do we get a bigger payout than if it was downloaded on iS? Also, why if I go to Getty and do a search I don't see any iS images?
1. Not necessarily, some of the lowest prices come that way because ... 2. IIRC, you're not an iS exclusive, therefore none of your files should be available there to just anybody. However, there's a select group of buyers, probably those with the biggest bulk discount deals, who can see and buy all iS and G files from one account.

Better than Jan and much better than Feb. On a par with last April, better than Aprils 20 and 19.

PS: please Mr Musk, could you buy this agency and fire all these bxstxrds ?
Be careful what you wish for. He'd just as likely reinstate the few bxstxrds who have actually had their ports with stolen images closed.

...they don't respect Biden, kinda like the rest of the world.
I can assure you, the 'rest of the world' (I can't speak for everyone, but from what I'm hearing and reading) respects Biden. We didn't respect Trump, recognised him as an idiot ("does China have hurricane guns?") and couldn't imagine why anyone would vote for him. I'd vote for Howling Laud Hope before I'd vote for Trump.

Can't find it using their forum's search function, and yours is the only hit when I Googled. I always contact their support when I have a question, just to make them tell us what they should have told us already and made easily accessible to look back on. Not that what they (are told to?) tell us is always accurate.

Imagine you are CEO of SS starting tomorrow. How would you improve it?
For whom? Buyers? Sellers? Shareholders? All of the above is presumably the answer, but ...

Have we ever been told about those connect sales?
Yes, to a limited and obfuscatory extent. I'm pretty sure that was pre-ESP, so not in the current forums. It comes up in their forums regularly, but searching 'connect' throws a lot of mentions within posts of 'connection' to the front of the listings, and if there's a way of searching only on topic line, I can't find it. It's generally believed that the big annual 'sale' reporting is via Pinterest, but I'm not sure if that's ever been confirmed.

I'm not sure that the search algorithm has changed for quite some time. Never forget that any word/s in the description can be searched for on their own or combined with any keyword/s. All of your words might be relevant, but the combined phrase may well be irrelevant, and it's not your fault.
For example, if what I wrote above was an Alamy description, it might show up in a search for your fault or irrelevant algorithm or search phrase
And if you captioned a "crowd waiting to see Emmanuel Macron after he was returned as French President", that could show up on a search for Macron, even though he isn't in the image.

After a truly shocking Feb, my March was my second-best month on the rolling graph, though of course not a patch on the GODs. Total swings and roundabouts.
Wow second best month. Istock still works for you? My best months at istock have been in 2009 or so. But nowadays i do only few stock photography. Getting more and more in wedding photography.
"Second best month on the rolling graph" - so in the last couple of years - "not a patch on the Good Old Days" And February was truly dire. Luckily, I can eat without my iS earnings.

I've been lurking in this forum for a while now, and it was very depressing lol. It seems like the microstock market is a sinking ship, and I was really serious about starting to upload some of my art, but I don't know anymore. Maybe people only post when they are unhappy and want to complain and successful people are silent lol. Can anyone tell some recent success story?
You mention your 'art'. Stock and art are not the same thing, and you might be better served looking at some art selling sites. (That said, there have been people posting here specifically asking about outlets for their "Fine Art Photography", which was anything but.)

Hunter Biden's computer is photography related? Is that what I missed? I thought it was about investigations, taxes and emails?
The OP was photography related. Thread drift has occurred!
