I did one site with Pixara as well - I like that script. I do thing the new photostore will be the best option overall. It seems like cmsaccount has come pretty far since I last looked at it.

I've worked with both 3.x and the new 4 a lot. There is no upgrade, as they are completely different scripts, but there may be a content migration script in the future. (No upgrade of the site content - the software itself is available to current owners.) A lot of what had to be custom work in the past is part of the script now. The new script does not yet have a contributor add on. To get to the forums, just create a ktools account. I don't have any idea why people are so upset by this: http://www.ktools.net/create.account.phpAs for getting up and running, ktools will do the entire install for you once you decide on hosting.

I had really good luck with them but outgrew them. I HIGHLY recommend http://www.knownhost.com for VPS or hybrid hosting. Great pricing on VPS and a lot of incremental plans and great, fast service.

How do you find using CMSaccount? Is it easy to bulk edit photos and upload photos?
I'm currently selling with photodeck and it is a bit pricy for how few sales I get. I think I'd rather use a self hosted system like cmsaccount or ktools (if they would ever release the latest version with better design)
Leaf, Ktools v4 has been released - they're on v4.0.8 http://ktools.net/photostore/It's so much more polished than the cmsaccount script.

24p footage is generally deemed to be more "cinematic" for a film look, which is look at as higher-end, so shooting 24p is a good option in many cases, and the PAL/NTSC issue is minimized.
The conversion of 30/29.97 fps footage from 25fps doesn't imply that the motion will be slowed down (it can be done this way, but the true conversion keeps the speed the same.

Let's stop having kittens here. StumbleUpon doesn't host anything. It's basically a social bookmark sharing site - someone sees something, they like it, and it gets shown to other users with similar interests. And it's been around a long time - it's a great way to get your work shown to users with interests in photography.
"When you press the Stumble button, a message is sent to the StumbleUpon database that most likely is just your User ID. The database looks up the categories that you chose when you signed up. From there, the application most likely chooses one of those categories randomly. Then the application goes through that category and finds a webpage in that category that is new to you, and directs your browser to that page."

Most of my fotolia images are there - I think they're not really a free site anymore, rather a lot cost subscription site from fotolia. Correct me if I'm wrong...

I have a question related to this: I use Pinterest to seek out usage of my images in live online settings and I pin those images-in-use. In theory, if my images is used as part of a larger designed composition (and the designer would be the copyright holder of the master design), I could be violating someone else's copyright by pinning a design that uses my image, correct?
This is where it goes down the rabbit hole for me.

They are announcing this right now on their facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/Ktools.net): "After 6 years in development, 3200+ files, 411,000+ lines of code and almost 10,000 hours of work... PhotoStore 4 releases tomorrow." It's a massive project, and I've never see a product with so many options for configuration.

I must say, the more I look at this new site, the more impressed I am. For a new site, the attention to detail and the level of finish is remarkable.

This is how the investment firms who have financed their growth get the largest return - I'm sure there is pressure.

IIRC, sxc.hu was originally the site that drove so much traffic towards StockXpert. I seem to remember the boss of StockXpert saying they were pretty stunned at the amount of traffic they received via that route. So... Getty swallowed that up too eh?
Actually, sxc was so popular that they spun out stockxpert as a paid site, which sxc then promoted. They were both bought by Jupiter images, which was then bought by Getty a number years ago. When Getty shut down stockxpert, sxc became a referral driver for istock. And I agree with the rest of your points.

By FAR the most popular free site on the web is sxc.hu, which is a massive referral driver for istock. Dreamstime is trying to compete - every visitor they get to their free site is one they don't have to pay to advertise to. Fotolia did the same thing with photoxpress, though that site has shifted a bit. If sxc were not so popular, I doubt this approach would be Dreamstime's first choice.

I think it's to avoid giving them SEO publicity. That's why the other post has such odd URLs.

I'm shocked at many of these pirate sites, but it's worth noting that there are quite a few perfectly legit sites that offer decent stock photos for free.

This site seems to basically just spiders the web and archives - put ANYTHING in that box and you'll get results from all over the web. It's like sifting through the garbage - and yes, some images are in there. It's weird, but it doesn't seem like that big a threat (less than Google images, which is a bigger version of the same thing.)

I think the only difference for me is that I have to buy the more expensive version of TurboTax to deal with the LLC. Same time spent doing taxes overall.

The design is pretty basic, but it's all smarty template based, so it will be way easier to change the design and easier to upgrade the code functions.

The long awaited Ktools Photostore 4 has a live demo now - it's pre-beta but seems to be moving fairly quickly now. Public front end is here: http://www.ktoolsdemos.net/ps4demo/The management area can be found at: http://www.ktoolsdemos.net/ps4demo/manager/ username: demo password: demo This is a complete redo of Photostore, and seems like a remarkable jump.
