You have to explicitly choose to make your photos public ...
We all know how much ignorant people there are on the internet.
A multi billion dollar corporation not willing to pay poor amateur photographers? So cheap.
Adobe are rip offs for what they charge for European customers. And now this? I would like to see they get some serious competition again.

152
This unbelievable. What a criminals!

Yes I think this is the future.
Microsoft is working on a online Office application:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/infoworld/20080326/tc_infoworld/96565

And check this out; this company has all sorts of online software, even a vector program:
http://a.viary.com/

I am curious about how this is going to develop. Maybe the software becomes cheaper because online software can't be illegally copied.

Adobe software is almost twice as expensive here in Europe than in the US, so I hope things are going to change.

fotolia does.
Really? I didn't know that. I thought you could choose.
I gave up on Fotolia a while ago. So here's another good reason.

I believe all the Scandinavian agencies charge and pay in Euro, even if Euro is not the currency in any of those countries. The German agencies also charge and pay in Euro.

Yes, that's right! But I was talking about agencies who charge their customers another currency than that they pay their contributors. Please name any other agency than Shutterstock who does this, because I don't know any other.

I hardly think the fact they pay in dollars is pissing anyone off.  They are a US company after all.

Don't all the sites pay in dollars - even the ones headquartered in other countries?  What's so different about Shutterstock doing that?
Charging the customers in Euro's, that's the difference! None of the other agencies do that, not even the agencies who have an office in Europe, like Dreamstime and Stockxpert.

I hope Shutterstock will realise they have to change things quickly.
They are chasing away European customers by letting them pay in Euro with the current dollar rate, and pissing the contributors off by paying them in dollars ,and with a low commission on top of that.

This is funny! Now I have eps files for 10 credits but you can also buy a jpg for 15 credits.
Do buyers realise they can open an eps file in photoshop and make the size XXXXXXXXXXXL ?  ;D
I did have a few XL sales already!

Google is your friend and Alexa is your girlfriend!  8)

Traffic ranking is a good indication on where the buyers are. So the UK is second and China third!

My guess is he got kicked of the site. Nobody would be so stupid to pull his Istock portfolio for going exclusive on Bigstock. Is it even possible to go exclusive on Bigstock?
Besides, his StockXpert and SS portfolio is still there.

Any of you guys have an advice on where to buy it?

Indeed a good point.  But I was talking about vectors, and you can't submit low resolution vectors.

StockXpert.com / Re: Subscritions at StockXpert
« on: March 17, 2008, 23:13 »
I opted out of subs at StockXpert the day it went online, and I can't see what I have to lose from missing the odd .30 sales.
Search engine ranking!
I also hate the 30 cents sales, but if you opt out on the subs, your files can end up lower in the search results because they have less sales. And then you lose credit sales as well.
I hate to see my eps files go away for 30 cents, but if I should opt out on StockXpert, then I have to be consistent and delete my account on Shutterstock as well. And then I definitely lose out on income.

LOL, did you have a property release for that hotel room? ;D
No, that's why I uploaded it to SXC, all the paid stock sited rejected that image for exact that reason! LOL  ;D

StockXpert.com / Promoting your StockXpert portfolio on SXC.
« on: March 10, 2008, 13:06 »
As most of you already know; SXC has more than twice the traffic as StockXpert has, and SXC has also a feature that allows you to promote your StockXpert portfolio from your SXC portfolio by putting a banner on your profile page!
But now I have find a way to promote your StockXpert portfolio even more, and I wanted to share this with you.
Why am I sharing this secret with you, you may ask!
Well simple; the more SXC downloaders head over to StockXpert, the more traffic StockXpert gets, and I will benefit from that as well!  ;D
Here's the tip:
Put a good quality image on SXC and integrate in some way your StockXpert work in it, so you can put a link to your StockXpert portfolio in the description of that image!
My guess is that people read descriptions more often than that they read someone's profile!
Besides, I think the StockXpert banner on the profile page is not very obvious and can be easily overlooked!
Here's mine to give you an idea:

Yes, I looked at her portfolio when I saw the image of the week!
It's not the first time I see people on Istock with amazing talent but with a very disappointing download rate. But to be honest, I think it is more art than stock (actually a compliment).
I hope she does make a good living with commission work, and looking at her website, I think she does!

Rated and commented the juicy seafood picture

Now my glowing fluorescent light approved in 3 hours by StockXpert :)

3 hours? Try vectors, they get accepted in less than 15 minutes, no kidding!
Rated and commented yours. I actually try to say something meaningfull in the comments. But that's just me, no need to do that on mine. The best compliment I can get is a lott of downloads. And that's what I hope for with my newest vector! I'm quite proud on this one.... took me a lott of work!:

Ok, I'm better now, thanks a bunch for listening ! phew :)))
You're welcome!  ;D
I know, it's frustrating. But why don't you make vectors? They sell better anyway.

171
Oh man this is so cheap.
Nobody noticed the after picture is actually the before picture?
Now who . would want a feature like this?
Yeah sure, you can slim your body but you will get a conehead in return!

General Stock Discussion / Re: Vector Imaging Getting Swamped?
« on: February 27, 2008, 16:33 »
Am I right about that, or are there Ordinary Joes out there with a copy of Illustrator (and presumably personal style)?
Yes, I'm one of them. But working with Illustrator has nothing to do with personal style. It's just a tool, you must do the drawing!
In a way, everybody has a personal style, even a three year old with pencil and paper!

Anyone can copy someone else, ....
I don't think that's always true. They can try but they don't always succeed.
It takes skills to develop a special style. And not everyone has those skills.

Interesting news!
I guess things are going to change drastically!
If a private equity investment firm invests that kind of money, I'm sure they want to see something back on the long term, and with profit ofcourse.
