Yeah write to support so that they do it on all your files for you. For the future, it's a bit unclear, try setting it and saving it so that the cookie remains there.

For my part it's mostly to support the site. I never noticed the ads difference though so they must not have bothered me before (my brain blocks ads now!!!) :)

Thanks very much for the headsup!  I will have to go through and check my last couple of batches.

I don't know if this is a glitch or an attempt to get us to sell ELs at 90% discount.  I kind of suspect the latter.

But I agree with Sharpshot.  I hardly ever get an EL there anymore.

Just wanted to give the answer from Fotolia support in regards to this. They give the technical ''why's'' of why this happens, but it seems weird that all our ''cookies'' got reset... unless they changed or updated it somehow.

Hi Patrick,

Thank you for your email. We have sent a request to our technical department in order to change this for you.

Please note that when you submit the indexation form (simple or multi) we'll store the value you chose for the Extended RF license (X) in a cookie, in your computer.
Note: in multi indexation, prices will be stored only if all contents of the same type have the same price.

However, if you use the indexation form that contains contents without saving the Extended RF license price, we have 2 cases:
* It will display the cookie value for this content type if we have it.
* It will display the minimum value, if we don't have the cookie value saved yet.

Kind regards,

Fotolia CS Team U.S.A.

Wow!
http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=337311&page=1

About time I notice this change almost 1 year after they ''announced'' it.

They submission form hasn't changed and it still says they ask EPS8, but it seems they are accepting EPS10!! Had so many EPS I couldn't submit because of that!

Just posting back in case somebody like me didn't notice!: )

Cheers!! :)

What ever camera you get make sure its got 'P' mode for professionals. If you want to submit to microstock 'M' mode works aswell. There's also 'A' for Alamy if you want to do RM.

Lol good one!! :) That P mode video will stick hehe

They most likely speak French, I already dropped them a line along with an email to Shutterstock, at least he'll get ''educated by this'' I hope:
His company and contact info here: http://www.petitham.com/contact.php

He most likely has no clue, I gave him a few :P

You had to scroll horizontally the image was too large. Just click the link now :P

I went to see a show on ecological house building a few days back. Overall it was pretty nice with lots of good ideas, but I found one company who sold lots to build on... and he advertised his company on a vertical stand banner... With all blurry images took on Google and some with the Watermark CLEARLY evident on them... without any shame...

Sorry for the poor picture I was walking with a baby in one arm and camera on my neck:
Image here:

He had a few of those, some with Dreamstime, 123rf or Shutterstock watermark.

I don't even understand why the print company even allowed this to be printed. I email him about this, and mentionned it to Shutterstock, but still it's impressive to see how people are either uninformed about copyrights or they just don't care thinking it's only for their small local business, but hell what is a few 10$ for a business longterm advertising. What a shame!

No they remain pretty stable, but I did upload 321 new color illustrations and a few hundreds video in the meantime so we can say PD declined a bit, but not that much. I think the ones buying those types of illustrations liked to have new content added regularly.

I have way less gallery views (from 4 to 8 per days to 0 to 2 per day).
I think gallery views are broken right now. I've been showing zero or 1 for a few days, down from 10 plus with no drop in sales.

Ok that might explain it. I was looking at my gallery views just now, only 2 for the whole week while it was at least 30 before. Some views are logging in but 5 days with no views at all is pretty strange.

Seems today the income is laggy again. Been showing me 25 sales since this morning, but when I look at the day's detail income I have 40. We have been seeing this more and more this late, nothing too concerning if the sales are all getting logged correctly

They stopped accepting PD images not as part as selling potential, but because it required too much time for their reviewers to evaluate and confirm the validity of the PD status of each images.

« on: October 05, 2012, 09:01 »
Can you follow if you are not a buyer? seems like a great idea for buyers, but not good if other contributors can do it, too many parasites on SS shamefully copying illustrations.

I don't think that having a Follow button will change anything for copycats. Before they still copied work without that feature, like qwerty said you could bookmark a portfolio or just keep the link handy. You will always be able to see the agencies images and browse through so from that point of view I don't think it will change anything for copies.

IF you look at it on the positive way, I find it's a good addition for buyers you need a specific style or type of images to follow the progress of new images they are looking for

I just noticed a new change on the contributor dashboard of Shutterstock

When you go to check your balance (mouse over the monthly income) you will notice a new ''Follower: (x)''.

Fun to see that some buyers has ''bookmarked you'', got a low 8 followers, not enough to start a sect! :)

New Sites - General / Re: Anyone Selling on Colourbox?
« on: September 25, 2012, 07:06 »
And here is the answer from the Colourbox team:

Quote
Yes, it is correct that currently you receive EUR 0.35 per downloaded vector or EUR 0.70 per video, regardless of whether a client purchases it as a single download or though a subscription. By far most of our images are downloaded as part of subscriptions where they pay less than 1 Euro per image - see more details here

Here is my answer:
Wow, just saying for us contributors, it is really the lowest payout seen in the industry for single image download. You make 10 EUR and we make .20 or .35 EUR... This is putting me off. 0.70 EUR for Video subscription when other sites who has more traffic (Shutterstock) gives an average of 18.00$ per video download, no thanks again.

I will send them a thread to this page. They seem like a good agency but a 4% payout on single download and 0.70eur per video is a ripoff.

192
Yes. Shutterstock doesn't want it larger than 5000 x 5000 (or 25mp) so you could limit to that. Or do higher size for other sites and 25mp for Shutterstock

To be honest the SS forum itself is utterly pointless and possibly damaging to your health on account of the feeble-brained inhabitants that might contaminate you with their idiotic theories.

Oh Gostwyk, I sincerely love you man.  Our very own Simon Cowell :)

New Sites - General / Re: Anyone Selling on Colourbox?
« on: September 22, 2012, 11:50 »
I don't mean to open a can of worms...or start a debate.  I have an honest question....

If it's an issue that Colourbox only licenses images at .20 or .35 Euro, then why isn't it an issue that Shutterstock or iStock or Dreamstime does the same?

Is it the volume of images licensed?  I'm just trying to (politely) understand...and my question is not related to EL sales at Shutterstock.  It's just something I couldn't get my head around when I pulled out of the micros altogether.

The issue for me is not the license price (yest it's one of the lowest in the industry, and for Videos it's just ridiculous (.70EUR for a video sale), but considering the subscription model if they have enough customer, fine by me.

My issue is that they seem to offer also Pay per file, at 10 Eur or 9 EUR per file, but it seems our comission remains at .20 and .30, which makes no sense to give a 4% of the share. Shutterstock will give us way more per single download (ex: 2.85$, 5.70$, ++)

New Sites - General / Re: Anyone Selling on Colourbox?

I registered... then checked their site. They seem to offer a 9.5 EUR pay per download (for Photo ,Illustration or Video). However they state clearly that they will only pay you .20 or .35EUR per download... Sounds like a ripoff for Pay per Download.

I sent them the following message, let's see what they answer...:

Hi!

I have a question. I just joined as a contributor and I would have around 5k illustrations (EPS) to submit.

However after reading the terms, I saw that I cannot earn more than .35 EUR per download?

Is that correct? So if my file is downloaded as a subscription, I can udnerstnand, but if the users pay per download, at 9.50EUR I only receive 0.35 EUR ?? This is a 4% payment which is real low.

Same thing with videos, I have around 300 videos to submit but your terms does not seem really interesting for contributors?

Thanks for clearing things up for me.
.
