There is also three options to show what your primary media type is.
http://www.microstockgroup.com/profile/?area=forumprofile
You might consider adding a little mouse over text to the three icons. I was not sure what they meant and could not find the answer :-)
you're right. fixed.

But why don't you recommend getting an external one? You'd have instant access to a lot more publishers.
Why? Because you simply pay to much! All of them take comission and setup fees and they do almost nothing for you. You also stuck with them and their system and can't manage your own one.
It would worth if there is a massive amount of publishers for stock photos, but there arend. I know it because i'm looking into this for long time.
IF YOU LIKE TO USE EXTERNAL ONE: If you like to try out external solutions go where iStock is: http://www.linkconnector.com/traffic_affiliate.php?lc=046369001223001435&lcpid=1343&atid=Microstockgroup (Aff. Link) they have awesome support and a great system too!
Feel free to ask more detailed question, i'm happy to help!
Thanks for the thoughts. They have high set up fees and a monthly minimum of $100. I won't be using them

mmm...better switch to CMSaccount. Better, cheaper, has a Affiliate Module built in.
I have purchased CMSaccount and even tried it out for a few days but trying to modify the look and layout was a nightmare with embeded tables and hard coded styles. With the new Ktools it was really a dream. They make use of CSS for essentially everything making it very easy.
True, customization requires some CSS skills in CMSaccount. I wasn`t aware that Ktools is making this easier with the new version...gotta check this out soon
But if they don't make heavy use of CSS in the original script you have to manually add the css to EVERY file.. that's not going to work since every update you'll have to re code everything. With ktools you can make a ton changes to the look with just the css file then that's the only one you have to update if you upgrade the software.

The top gauge level is 25,000 (sales+files).
I am far from 25,000 sales + files, so why is my gauge pegged almost all the way to the right? Before the recent update, it was just entering the yellow area on the left side.
I think that was an error in the code from before. Your stats just weren't up to date. It's fixed now.

Don't get a "external" one - get a script - either the one from Arenacreative (i work with him too and its good enough) or i recommend http://www.qualityunit.com/de/postaffiliatepro/ (there is a free version too)
Thanks for the suggestion Amos. Post Afiiliate pro is $100 more than idevaffiliate but the UI looks quite a bit nicer and may be worth it. I see that wiredtree is using what looks like idevaffiliate - both options are probably good. But why don't you recommend getting an external one? You'd have instant access to a lot more publishers.

Is it worth to get ktools for my 500 photo port?
Probably not unless you want to start building for the future in mind.

I guess it would need a mixture of dls, number of files and time uploading although even that wouldn't be accurate as somebody could have opened and account 5 years ago and not uploaded until recently and visa versa. What are the levels needed to get to the top end of the dials? Maybe the dial limits need to be higher now that so many people are reaching the maximum. ETA where's my IS dial gone? It was there this morning
Since iStock is down lots today it is getting a reading of nothing.. so your gauge disappears. The top gauge level is 25,000 (sales+files). I could raise the levels but that would make the in between steps so large. Anyone with 25,000 combined stats has been around a while or has been around short and really managed to figure things out quickly.

Gauges / dials mean nothing!
There is a certain someone with over 10,000 images that are cheesy and yet there are some people with far less than 1,000 or in some cases less than 500 images that blow the 10,000 away!
So what does it prove other then having bragging rights about how many more you have than someone else?
The dials are an addition of portfolio size and sales. If someone has a port of 1,000 and great sales they will have a nice gauge. Knowledge is gained from both creating content and selling it and the gauges can reflect that. Obviously you still need some common sense when evaluating what someone says but it is at least a pointer in the right direction.

leaf, which photostore do you have?
basic or pro?
just the basic. Why do you ask?
I thought pro version had an affiliate module.. but found out that it doesn't..
I am considering pro version for following features:
- Block By IP, Domain & Email Address Block access and signups to your site by the IP, domain and email address. - Block External Linking Block other domains from linking to your thumbnails.
do you think it's worth it just for these features?
(btw CMS account have block IP feature built in)
You can block IP addresses within cpanel, same with external linking. It might be more handy to access it from the back-end of ktools but if that's all you need from the pro version it might not be worth it.

Isn't it better and easier to calculate the relative ratio with percentages...?
percentage of what?

price of CMS account has gone up.. It is now $149 for light, and $199 for full version..
- full version comes with affiliate and contributors add-ons - both versions are unbranded - still cheaper but lacks some important features mentioned below..
photostore, even though appears similar in price now, purchasing unbranded version and necessary add-ons brings the price to nearly $400
- dynamic watermark, - easy customization - additional jpeg sizes for vectors;
are upsides of photostore..
Yeah, the watermark thing and the design were dealbreakers for me. The affiliate feature would be awfully nice on ktools and they are missing a couple batch features which are supposedly still coming. Neither one is perfect.

If you are unhappy with your 50% at YAY and the fact that you can opt out of every partnership they have on a per site basis you should really reconsider your involvement with Fotolia, 123RF, Shutterstock, Bigstock, Dreamstime, Panther, Veer etc.etc. Here's the massive list of distribution. http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/a-list-of-partner-programs/100/Personally, I think distribution helps the agencies more than the photographer but this isn't isolated to YAY. Like CD123 said, if you want to discuss partner programs in general, a new thread would be better. You guys are talking like YAY invented the idea and are giving the worst deal there is, when really, they have one of the better (and certainly most open) partnership deals there is.

Here's another software solution - JAM which i see ArenaCreative is using. The cost is $250 for the basic software.

and the last little check for ComissionJunction
They keep their prices hidden (you know what that means!) and are a really big company like linkshare so I don't even think I'll try asking them for prices.

Here's the info for shareasalehttp://www.shareasale.com/learnmore.cfmThat site looks like it would be feasible but would cost $550 to set up, $25 minimum in payouts per month and 20% fees on top of what you pay the advertisers. If I had a reasonable amount of sales I think this one would work. The advantage of using a referral site like this is they already have the publishers that are looking for things to advertise. If I set up my own software like cthoman did I'd save quite a bit but also not have the exposure of a large user base. Also, the publishers would have to sign up to my site just to set up the referral program. If they were a part of shareasale already they wouldn't need to sign up to yet another account and check referral earnings.

Here's some that I've heard quite often (can't give a reference though).
http://www.shareasale.com/ http://www.cj.com/ http://www.linkshare.com/
I think those are mostly referral programs for the small time publisher (you have a blog and want to put ads on it). For our own stores we are advertisers (we have goods for sale that we want people to promote in exchange for fees). Anyhow, I checked out linkshare, just in case. Here's what they said Is Rakuten LinkShare Affiliate Marketing right for you? Do you generate more than 1 million dollars per year in online sales? Are your conversion rates greater than 1 percent? Do you have the margins to pay commissions on goods sold or leads generated? Is your site clear of any adult oriented materials?
If you answered "YES" to all of these questions, than it is likely that a profitable partnership with Rakuten LinkShare is within your reach.

Anyone have any good suggestions for affiliate software to use with a ktools install? I thought it had one built it but don't see it so I think I was mistaken.

I don't know if this has been suggested before (or if this the right thread to suggest it), but I think it would be interesting to have a general poll entry called "Self" or "Direct" or something like that - i.e. for people who run a self-operated web store and sell their own work directly.
Yeah, I should add that in there for next month. That would be an interesting stat and an easy addition

Didn't there used to be a fotolia one?

I have both IS and DT user names entered, but I don't see gauges for my forum posts - I can see your gauges. I had my portfolio links in place from when you updated the site, so unless I need to delete and re-enter them to get the gauges to appear, I'm not sure what I might have missed
They are showing now.. as you can probably see.

OK fair enough. Can you post somewhere the index number you use, and then I can still see the rough dollar numbers by calculations on my own.
What does 100 mean? $100, $1000, $10?
It's easy to see that SS is double IS for the Indys, and FT is 30%, DT 22% of that lead value, nice round numbers. But maybe the index number in dollars would be of value?
Yes making it so SS moves up and down, makes sense. Hey can you do something like the Dow Jones and show the whole market total going up and down? We'd finally know what month is really best and which are the worst.
Why not use real dollars not imaginary numbers based on an imaginary standard?
because then people would think that the actual dollar amount means something. The actual dollar amount doesn't mean anything because people have to round their answers down quite a bit, you can't answer as high as you want (if you make $5000 on a site for example), and there aren't enough people answering to make a dollar amount statistically significant. The only thing we can really know from the results is where sites lay in relation to each other and how they rank in relation to previous months and a ranking from 0-100 works quite well for this.
Yeah, the magical number is 500 for whatever that's worth... so the average photographer on MSG is saying he is making just under $500 on SS A Dow Jones type overall market rise fall would be useful I agree. I'll think about how to make it work.

The gauges are back in place. To get them to show you have to go to your profile settings and enter your dreamstime and iStock user names. You can also choose to hide your portfolio links but still show your gauges (like before). Once you enter your user details it may take up to 30 minutes to get your gauges in place as it is run on an automatic update that only gets processed every 15 minutes. There is also three options to show what your primary media type is. http://www.microstockgroup.com/profile/?area=forumprofile
