As Borg said, what they actually want is the W9 for US, and W8 for others. It is for their records only. Although US citizens should report all income, even if not enough to pay taxes on, the 1099 form is only sent to submitters who have more than $400 in sales.
So go ahead and download the W9 or W8, fill it in and send it to SS in the way they ask.
Yes, it seem you are right with the above. However, (as an EU citizen) I was sent a W9 link. I still await clarification from support.

Well I made less then $100.00 and they still want a 1099 from me
Same for me, I am below the $400 mark but they still issued the form. I think there may be a glitch there.

As someone living in the Euro zone, can you tell me if I have to complete this form as recently requested by SS.

Yes Hali, Fotolia has been on the pick up and is chasing DT in total number of Dls. (not very far off). I've been with them quite a while and sales there (mine anyway) don't rely on constantly uploading new work, which is good.
The only thing is - acceptance of work has become a bit more difficult. As you may now, there was some big problems when the site was upgraded last year or so, but now things seem to be getting back on track.

I just did a search there for "Ireland" and not a single image came up!
Database?
[. Search for Eire and you find Ireland photos.
I find that really strange. Surely Ireland would and should be first keyword choice. I doubt very much if buyers in far flung places with be at all familiar with " Eire" I do sometimes use it but only as a secondary choice.
I've since fixed it so Ireland or Eire will return the same results. To be honest, I would never have thought of using Eire as a search term in a million years. You do have to remember that this was a German only site for 7 years, and even though we've had it professionally translated just recently, even pros aren't perfect. We're in the process of fine tuning everything, so this kind of discovery is helpful.
I do understand now and thanks for replying. Wish you the best.

Have had sales on each of the last four days and a JIU sub today. Nice to see sales picking up again.

Just in case you may have not seen it over in the other thread - this is the latest one to fold. Dear StockRiot Contributors,
It is with great disappointment that we have decided to take StockRiot offline, effective immediately. Due to the state of the economy, we feel that this is not the right time to attempt our long-planned advertising campaign. Therefore, after much thought we are closing our doors with the hope that we may resurrect StockRiot when the economy is more forgiving.
We thank you for your time and contributions. All accounts will be settled via paypal before January. 31, 2009. If money is owed to you and you have not received your payment by this date, please email us to ensure that we have your correct information.
Our sincerest thanks for all your comments, suggestions and support. The StockRiot team. admin@stockriot.com

As mentioned above, the picture quality in the database is iffy for sure. Makes you think how many contributors have opted to pay for space.
However, the site looks promising enough and pretty well laid out. It would be nice to see a UK site break through into the big league.
You know what I think is really important for us contributors. To be able to see what is selling, views (which we can see), what is most popular etc.
If you see something like that it gives you incentive to take part, specially if you are going to pay for storage of your work.

It's a slow start for me for 2009 all round. Would certainly like to see more sales.

I used it once years ago and found it very confusing.
I am also a fan of free software, but I don't like to suffer, so I purchased "Paint Shop Pro", which is a very complete program not behind PS. I paid US$60 for the standard edition, but sometimes there are special offers.
Regards, Adelaide
I also use Paint Shop Pro - I'm used to it and it does the job. I had a look at the Gimp before but was not so crazy about the interface.

Yes, Mela It's been really quiet for me too - a few months back sales were really tanking!
Have just spotted this on another thread - maybe explains?
Ok. We identified a problem with how sales data is being reported from Photos.com and JIU to StockXpert. The data is being recorded and logged; it's just not flowing to StockXpert. Our dev and tech teams are working quickly to fix the problem and restore the data to your balance sheets.
Thanks for your patience and let me know if you have any questions.

Congrats! - you must be delighted, cos as you may have seen from past threads, contributors don't often get into SS at the first attempt.
I wish you well and as time goes by (from my own experience) you will learn more along the way.
Best of luck to you and look forward to seeing you around the forum.
