I know a photographer who earns 180$/month on Shutterstock and 300 euro on Freepik. He loves Freepik!
PS. It was 300 euro before they lowered the royalty rate
That sounds extremely unlikely.

You really cant decide between someone whos clearly mentally incompetent and any even passably competent Democrat? Really?

The campaign, from what I read in this article, is meant to counter disinformation coming from Trump, not to spread disinformation about him....basically the polar opposite of what you claimed.
I read it that way too now that I have the actual article to read, not somebody's sly, smirking interpretation of it.
it's in conjunction with a few other articles... if you like, I can see if I can find those too? (see above post where I replied to the previous poster)... but basically - from the other articles I read too (see if I can find those as well) - it appears the dems under the guise of removing disinformation, then want to use exactly the same things they are accusing trump of doing to push the dem agenda... so its like the pot calling the kettle black... [/quote] Your little story fell apart rather quickly.

there was a news article recently (which I can't seem to find at the moment, frustrating - but 3-4 days ago) - but if I recall the gist of it - it was a higher up in the army that supported biden that said they were specifically going to use a disinformation campaign against trump (the same type of algorithms they used against other hostile nations), and pay social influencers big $$$ to put their support behind biden.
LOL, indeed.
IMHO, what you wrote above sounds exactly like the kind of vague, untraceable, made-up "news articles" anonymously planted in the darkest corners of the web with the express intent of smearing and slandering a candidate the poster does not support.
You know, the kind of slimy, unproven and unprovable rumors that shouldn't even be there to find in the first place, much less eagerly read, and for sure not gleefully passed on to others.
So, thanks for the tip, but I prefer the news I find on reputable news outlets.
<sigh> okay then... I spent a few minutes finding the article, just for you...
here is your article, do you consider the washington post, in your humble opinion, to be worthy of a read?

There are many great science illustrators on Shutterstock, etc. Maybe reach out to a few whose work you like? And yeah, when someone comes here offering to hire illustrators, why on earth would some of you jump in and recommend he take a chance on upwork, where illustrators, Im sure, have to give a cut to their corporate overlords? Jeez, for once let people get some fair money for their efforts.

Shutterstock the provider of stock photography, footage and music had to slow down its approval rates for submissions. This as more and more states and cities implement isolation and quarantine measures, including shelter-in-place orders. The company recently slowed down the approval rate of those uploading images for sale on the site. And also the rate at which sellers can upload their images. It has also limited the volume of content contributors can submit weekly due to a reduction in review capacity. According to the new arrangement, contributors can submit up to 500 images and 100 videos in a 7-day period.

We can certainly blame Trump, who crosses out Corona and replaces it with Chinese in his notes with his fabulous sharpie. Hes also calling for open armed rebellion in certain Democratic-led states with his insane tweets today. Hes a despicable dictator wannabe.

The CDC has reversed its recommendations about using face masks as the coronavirus pandemic develops.
You left out the part where Trump told everyone it was voluntary several times, and also said several times he wont be wearing one, while standing right next to all his cronies.
And what heads of state, presidents, dictators, kings or queens are going to be visiting him in the White House during the pandemic?
What...theyre not all lining up to bow before him? Fake news! Lol.

It is voluntary, the CDC isn't Trump, who cares about Trump, he can wear a mask or not. The CDC says recommended that we now wear masks. Trump can go die with no mask and make people happy.
I don't care what happens to him. But his followers put healthcare workers' lives at risk by continuing to spread the virus.
You mean the democratic mayor of New York is putting everybody at risk because he denied the seriousness of the virus. Go check your facts, lad.
First Id better check to see whether Ive grown a penis, since apparently Ive become a lad.

You can ignore the confirmed cases numbers because the UK has also pretty much not been testing compared to lot of other countries. Another thing the WHO was pleading with them to do more of.
Testing regimes vary widely so I think its probably an unreliable statistic for comparison. Its probably something that can't keep pace while the cases are accelerating. Its accepted in the UK that only those that have potentialy serious effects are being tested. If we have mild indications we are just told to self isolate.
Good points both. China just said "no new cases reported" Which the last word is most important. Plus what both of you pointed out, if someone isn't tested, they aren't confirmed. Self Quarantine in home if you suspect you have the virus, is a good plan, but none of those are counted.
Please folks, stop blaming, accusing, and debating politics, and stick to the virus COVID-19 problem?
Or maybe blame the cause, which seems to be ignored and some are defending, poor sanitary conditions, open markets with animal slaughtering. We can't call this the Wuhan virus, because we're all being politically correct? Yet, there's a never ending attack on just about any leaders or people in power, now "capitalism". LOL
COVID-19 came from China (a Communist country by the way), wet market, where they slaughter live animals in public. And now people are calling for Trump, Putin, Boris and others to fall because of that? Some are blaming humans for being on the planet, global warming, and the vegetarians even more the uppity self-righteous Vegans who blame anyone who eats meat. I read how God is punishing us, how this is a plot, blaming the East, The West or someone else, depending on where the person lives or their political leanings.
What I'm asking it this. Can we stop the endless, useless, politics and blame? COVID-19 is here. Attacking others, other countries, or leaders isn't doing anything but create division and anger, when we need to be more together. Blame or hate is not a cure for anything.
Yes, but well never learn and change our ways if we dont look at history and see that many of our pandemics...the Spanish flu, HIV, SARS, Mad Cow, H1N1, Covid-19...come from our obsession with eating meat. We catch things from chickens, pigs, bats, cows, monkeys, not because we happen run across them, but because we pack them and ourselves into relatively cramped spaces and slaughter them, exposing ourselves to their diseases in unnatural conditions. And of course, here in the U.S. and increasingly around the world (as our crappy diet takes over) we also suffer from conditions like obesity, diabetes, cancer and heart disease, all caused in large part by eating too much meat and dairy. Not to mention climate change and mass extinction, also caused by tearing down forests in order to raise animals for slaughter. Were killing ourselves and the planet by not eating what doctors and nutritionists recommend, which is a plant-heavy diet.

A lot of advertising assignments are being put on hold, and we freelancers are not getting any work. So Id guess therell be a negative impact.

Follow the money.
1. Reviewers get paid per image, so if they reject everything in two seconds and then accept in two seconds when resubmitted they get paid twice.
2. If youre an established contributor, you make a higher royalty rate and SS keeps less of the money, so your work gets rejected more often and when accepted automatically gets pushed back in the search. That way new contributors can flood the site with images that get pushed to the top, and SS keeps more money by paying lower royalties.

Any time I see people discussing this scummy operation I feel compelled to remind everyone that they started out by stealing illustrations and offering them for free, including dozens of my illustrations, which they gave away for years. Theyre common thieves who for some reason are still allowed to be SS affiliates despite the fact that I reported them to SS for their thefts.

Reviewers are most likely paid per image, so they make twice as much money by mass rejecting everything and then mass accepting when you resubmit.

I uploaded files buyers specifically requested with elements theyve already approved and they rejected them for not having reference images. I really dont know if I can be bothered re-uploading with screen shots from their own freaking site in order to make 38 cents. I haven't uploaded anything since their stupid requirement to make the illustrations as large as billboards and wouldn't have bothered with these if they hadnt been requested.

Anyone in NJ and California familiar with these bills? Any idea how they might affect working with the stock sites? I'm guessing stock companies' argument would be that they're technology companies and what we do is outside the scope of their regular work, and that they don't employ us but represent us. However, in NJ they're limiting freelancers to submitting 35 works of art or writing per year per business...

Thats the beginning of the end for Getty, as RM people realize they can make more by spreading their work around.

Universal health care, while imperfect, is generally a good idea for for low income and middle income people. In the United States, the richest 5% of tax payers pay 56% of federal income tax
Even putting aside the talk of universal health care, almost all people in the United States are net beneficiaries of taxes from the ultra wealthy, all because the ultra wealthy pay the majority of taxes.
"The top 5% of households, three quarters of whom had two income earners, had incomes of $166,200 or higher." That means in a lot of those cases, each person in a two-earner family earned an average of $83,100 per year. Not exactly ultra-wealthy. However, there are a few dozen families who ARE ultra-wealthy, and this year their tax rate fell BELOW that of the middle class for the first time. It's sick that the ultra-wealthy have bought our government representatives and had laws passed that give them ever greater wealth while simultaneously having laws passed that give them lower tax rates. They game the system so that money is extracted from the lower classes and passed up to them....whether it's through stagnant wages that give them unprecedented corporate earnings and bonuses, predatory lending practices that keep the poor in debt and paying exorbitant interest rates, creating a gig economy that keeps workers from getting benefits, and any other number of nefarious means.

Sean I have been to all those places. Very high taxes, some have free health care but poor care. Many of those people with money come to America to get great heath care. Even Mic Jagger came to California to get his heart worked on. He is from the UK and they have really poor free health care. Not even sure if Mic would have been cover because of his old age in the UK. Sean it seems you clearly like Socialism in America. That is your right. For me Socialism is just a pre- word for communism. Sean is the world going to come to an end in twelve years for our abuse of the pollution in the world. You don't even need to answer that, AOC says it will come to an end.....We all know AOC is so smart...
Secede. Seriously. Get by on $1 back for $1 paid in tax. New York gets back only 80, yet THAT'S where MicK Jagger went for his heart operation. My mother lay in the hallway on a gurney for 24 hours when she went to the emergency room...in New Jersey. She was seriously injured by subpar medical care...right here in the USA. Right here in the USA, where getting subpar medical care not only injures you but also bankrupts you. These are the countries with the best medical care: Canada Qatar France Norway New Zealand Germany Hong Kong The Netherlands Switzerland Singapore Luxembourg Japan Sweden The U.S. ranks #37. Coincidentally enough, Texas ranks #37 in health care in the U.S. Maybe that's why Jagger didn't go to Texas for his operation.
