Where did you here this? I am still getting "similar" rejections. I echo Cathy's question - Is this a change for Yuri only, or for everyone?
My deduction. Achilles said that rules were the same for everybody, included Yuri. Then I took a look to Yuri's recent uploads. Conclusion: similar are accepted now.

Yuri has uploaded 3 images this month. The war is over?
Were they similar?
Now it's official, Yuri is uploading to DT. And yes, they are similar. Yuri seems to be a winner of this conflict. Upload's rules were changed and series are accepted again. Yuri 2:0 Achilles

Because it's your content. You should be free to control its use as you wish. That's why people don't like it.
If I ever started an agency I would insist on at least a six-month lock in too. A content provider who can't even commit to a six-month business relationship is exactly the sort of content provider that I wouldn't want to be wasting my time with.
But in this case you cannot change rules during this period. When I started with DT there were no subscriptions, they paid 50% commissions. Then they changed rules but not 6 months lock in - this is taking contributors hostage.

If there is no 100% royalty day this year I'll opt-out promotional use.

'Dreamstime Exclusive' - hobbist, cheerleader and mentally weak
Agree. Dreamstime can be nice place for people who are not professional but dream to feel like."Community" feeling is very strong here.: "BME, DT rocks" (by a 1 year old contributor with 17 dls). But there is no money. Try to find one exclusive photographer who can live from DT's earnings. It's easier to find them at IS, isn't it?

"Once a marketing gimmick, free has emerged as a full-fledged economy. Offering free music proved successful for Radiohead, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, and a swarm of other bands on MySpace that grasped the audience-building merits of zero. The fastest-growing parts of the gaming industry are ad-supported casual games online and free-to-try massively multiplayer online games. ."
Maybe free can be a good idea for some products, but not for stock images. I can imagine Rolling Stones becomes famous with free than make money. But I cannot imagine a microstock contributor, specialist of isolated images, build a faithful fan club this way. Even if we think be artists our "products" , in huge majority, are not art. Free is not good at all for contributors.

I decided long ago to avoid joining new sites, since I am already part of too many low to no earners.
As an exception, I was going to give this site a try just because I trusted the founders, but if they are making thinks difficult and asking to wait for very long time... I am afraid this site is losing its "freshness" for me, sorry.
These "trustful founders" already sold one site. They can sell StockFresh, once succesful, like they did with Stockxpert. And they will stay "nice" guys with pockets full of money. Then everybody will hate the new owners.

I only anticipate deletion from Fotolia because I head about problems with their affiliates - so I delete my portfolio form FT almost one month before others. Then once I deleted my last images from DT and removed all my portfolio from SS with one click ( THANK YOU SHUTTERStOCK ) I have immediately applied for exclusivity. No problems even if many thumbnails were still present.

Last year Scott M. (lumaxart) wanted to sell his portfolio. Try to contact him.

I think that rather new DT is born. DT is an old site which has never been very successful for professional photographers - just compare numbers of 20 best exclusives (and non-exclusives) at DT vs IS. Very difficult to live only with DT earnings. Achilles probably understood that he cannot compete on purely professional basis. So new DT is hobbyists-community-cheerleader site where positive attitude makes everybody feel good. Everybody can feel like an artist and it's well known that usually artist are poor.

May is almost finished. Still zero uploads for many of best microstockers: Yuri, Monkeybusiness, Iofoto, Avava, lumaxart (0 images in portfolio), Redbaron, PhilDate, BelleImages and many others I don't think that all of them are going to be exclusive somewhere. Yuri said in SS forum, in thread related to DT (the topic seems to be deleted now) that he stopped uploading to Dreamstime because he works only with "professional sites" Maybe others think the same, DT in not worth to work with.

@Digital66 What made you think there is currently such a benefit for exclusives ? "Exclusivity brings more attention to your portfolio and makes the most out of all that traffic."-iStock exclusivity page @cclapper Have you increased your uploads substantially during that time? I've almost stopped uploading for few months @PaulieWalnuts So did you actually check file placement to see if there was any before/after difference? Or are you just assuming there was no best match change because your downloads didn't increase? Both. I've checked few files (without noting the exact position). Few of my photos were on the first page and they are still there. The files which were in the middle of best match are still in the middle of 200 pages. Maybe some change from page 120 to 118 but for me it's not a real progress. @gostwyck The 20% increase in overall earnings sounds very worthwhile anyway. Does that also include the effect of the Exc+ prices? Yes. Everything included (EL is in average 60$ now). BTW I didn't see negative impact when I put my few best sellers (yellow flame) in E+ bin @cclapper That is what I have always thought and I think it's bad business that exclusives get rewarded just because they are exclusive, not because their files are any better. Which to me seems so totally ridiculous because Getty makes more profit on independent best-selling photos than they do mediocre-selling exclusive photos. Agree, but exclusive best-selling photos should be before independents. And mediocre independents photos should be after mediocre exclusive ;-) @Whitechild Rene, at least you don't have to deal with many agencies. If Im exclusive at IS its not because I'm fan. It's because I couldn't stand others ;-). I'm only regretting SS which is a fair and honest site. You just have to work with IS, and you can focus on your portfolio to make it perfect looking with lightboxes and other nice things. This is one of best thing. Im no more wasting my time reading "Fifi's" threads. Seriously, I think that I was spending half an hour per day checking numbers, participating to forums on others sites. It meens 3.5 hours/week + 1h for uploading =4.5h/week x 46 weeks (52 - vacations)= 207hours/year. Almost one work month! BTW, IS standard uploading system sucks but Deepmeta is great. Uploading is even easier than on other sites. @jsnover I don't know how long you've been building a portfolio on IS, but I've seen lots of oldies but goodies resurfacing in the last best match jiggle. Over 3 years [/i]People with newer portfolios seemed to be overly represented in the group who were hit negatively by the best match changes.[/i] You are right, I checked my downloads and oldies seem do better than my new files (even if they are better quality IMO).
In conclusion even if, for instance, Im glad from this decision Im a little disappointing. More money is ok but I thought that without my portfolio FT and DT will go out of business. But they are still there And when I see my constant number of downloads not many of my fans followed me. My ego suffers ;-)

After over 2 months of exclusivity my feelings are mixed. Before my IS earnings represented 40-50% of total microstock earnings. Now it's about 120%-yes, I earn more and it's a positive point. Now negative point: my downloads' number is the same. It seems that I didn't benefit from better best match placement. My earning increase come only from better commission and much higher prices (exclusive, exclusive+ and Vetta). I'm curious about experiences from other fresh exclusives.

Is DT dying?
No, in fact they seem to be growing (according to Alexa.com):

Are you receiving a smaller share?
Probably!
Free images hunters traffic. That's the reason why DT says that giving free images is "good" for contributors. BS.

The Mom and Pop buyers can shop at less professional sites.
Istock doesn't even have necessarily the most extensive collection. I just noticed yet another top seller, with extremely professional desirable images (Kurhan) who has over 12k images on DT and less than 1k on Istock. This is clearly not down to just upload limits because I have managed to get 5k on Istock in the same period of time she's been there. It is very telling that some of the top producers in the industry no longer find Istock worth bothering with.
I think Kurhan is an exception. Yuri Arcurs, Belleimages, Iofoto, Phildate, Redbaron, Monkeybusiness and many other stopped uploading to Dreamstime. I'm from few weeks exclusive at IS and my last weekends' numbers are better than entirely months at DT. Some do better on one site, some on other. Microstock has strange rules.

Andresr is still uploading but I think he is not very concentrated on this task. Take a look on titles and keywords of his last images (especially the reading man)
Hey Rene, thanks for pointing out. I just fixed some will fix the others later because there were too many mistakes. It was in the actual uploads the mistake rather than the embedded keywords ..... one uploader less at the company and thanks to your remark as I found tons of mistakes everywhere made by him.
You are lucky, I was tempted by 0.02$ prime but I was in a good mood. Funny that after all this "flagging campaign" DT's reviewers still don't do their work correctly.

Confused... rene starts the thread talking about uploads by the big guns and soon everyone is talking about tax!
Thank you Dunsmore. Even Leaf is against me Back to the topic. After check today, Yuri, Iofoto and Monkeybusiness have uploaded to different sites this month but not to DT.

Strange thing, this month big "guns" (Yuri, Iofoto, Monkeybusiness) have not any uploads at Dreamstime. Usually they upload hundreds/thousands files. Are they preparing something? (boycotting new uploads limits or going exclusive)

I want to delete my images (almost 1500) from Fotolia and Dreamstime. I have red, long time ago, that there were scripts for doing this. Anyone has an idea where I can find them? Thanks for your help.
