Nikon / Re: Nikon D610 - Dirty sensor
« on: February 29, 2016, 05:50 »
Well I only had my D750 a few weeks and already dirt on the sensor that shows on blue sky images. A real problem for video footage so what would be the best option (except sending to Nikon as they cocked up big time with my D200) ? I am a bit nervous of doingit myself with no experience.

Microstock Audio / IS Audio PP sales tanked
« on: February 29, 2016, 04:52 »
This month has been pretty abysmal on a few sites for me but I notice a huge slump in PP sales in my IS audio this month. Anyone notice it ?

How has it come to getting 0.27 for an XL download ?  >:(

Microstock Audio / Istock audo never sells files later than 2011
« on: February 10, 2016, 11:46 »
My sales at istock audio never seem to get beyond 2011, mainly 2009 and 2010. I have a lot more added since so something is very wrong. I have contacted admin who tell me they notice that themselves but don't have any plan to address it.

Anyone else having this issue ?

Abysmal. I am lucky if my balance goes up by a few cents every few weeks.

The usual crappy zero, zilch downloads continue into 2016.

DT SHOULD NOT BE RANKING IN THE TOP TIER.   >:(

Lots of folks extend their Christmas break until January 6 in Europe and the Eastern Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on January 7. So it's a bit early to sound the alarm bells.

That's it then ! The orthodox church folk are still on holiday. No wonder I have dire sales so far for 2016.  ;)

Holidays ended on Jan 6th so what happened to the last few days ?

So how do I find where the images of mine (if any) are free ?

DT are now rejecting for silly reasons like "you already have several similar images in your portfolio" when in fact the 2 different images of the same subject are the only ones I have submitted. They reject both. Why not reject one and accept the other ?

Another rejection is the only image of this subject in my portfolio rejected for having "several of the same in my port" I give up with DT.

I think you are right. Reading the email I can see they haven't actually deleted them as such. I quick read it and assumed they had deleted.

This is an automated notification. Your portfolio includes images that have been online for more than 4 years with no downloads up to the present. In order to keep up with the current standards we believe they should be removed from our commercial database, allowing fresh content to be more visible.

The following action options are available for you to decide:

- donate the image to the free section (default action) which can provide significant portfolio exposure and increase your sales; images can be disabled at any time later.
- keep the image online.

In order to review the images and take the desired action, please access the link below.
If no action is taken, the default one is automatically selected.

Review the images

My option was set by default to donate (now set to keep) so all my deleted files are out there fre. Is there any way I can pull them from being free ?

I keep getting emails from them updating me on the latest files of mine they have deleted from the catalogue. Mmmmm. Lovely.

bsolutely and emphatically NO. I haven't had an image sale since September. Not even bothered with footage :-\

I started submitting 4 years ago with 4 agencies. DT was far and away my
most successful agency. Even with a tiny portfolio at the time (200-400) I
was selling images everyday.

Today with approx. 2500 images in my portfolio I may, if I'm lucky, sell one image
a week. What changed?

The assumption that our portfolios are the perfect fit for ALL agencies, of course,
is naive and incorrect. In the early days when I was first submitting, the vast
majority of submissions were "big city" themes. Its since been replaced with a
"rural/country" theme.

As far as numbers and not income, which agencies have taken over DT's numbers? Surprisingly, DepositPhoto! Followed by 123rf, and then IStock.

Well I wish I could sell one a week. That's good going. I have a lot of new images I could upload to DT but what's the point ? And why with it being so poor these days is it ranked as "top tier" ? I think this site needs to update it's ranking.

« on: November 09, 2015, 05:58 »
As microstock seems to be accepting images taken with iphones these days I can probably imagine their acceptance of slide images, if the subject matter is interesting enough, is more successful of late ?

I have just ordered a Nikon D750 and a Macro lens so perhaps I could do it with that ?

What about the fact that he has our audio and footage ? Could he set himself up again as an artist with all this work and sell it ?

I am trying to get my head around what a patent troll is. I still don't understand it.

243
As a UK semi/professional you will probably also want to have liability cover.

Would I need that as I don't work with people, models ?

244
I need to insure around 3500 of camera gear old and new. I have home and contents insurance, with the option to add valuable items. What would be my best option for a self employed musician/photographer (only stock at the moment) for camera insurance on location in the UK only covering accidental damage and theft ?

Thanks.

Well I can no longer get into my account. It won't accept my username and password anymore. Very worrying as my files are still making the odd sale.

246
Looking at my statement it would seem that I was in fact paid in July and not June as I initially thought. As it says on my Alamy account that it was June hence the confusion.

Just to put that right.

I contacted him on Facebook and he paid me the amount within the day. It was $122 so not sure if the bigger payments will work as mine is a relatively small sum. I have since found though that I cannot log into my account which is quite worrying.

248
I am looking at my Alamy account and it states on my balance that all my earnings accumulated were paid to me in June. I received no such payment  >:(  has anyone else found this ?

I am pretty hacked off with them now. My sympathy bucket is empty. They owe me $122 that is rightly my money earned from my work. I just get a stock email reply and then no response to the follow up. I now only get sales once every blue moon. I just want to take my money and go.

Does google own the internet!!??

I don't understand what you mean ?

I have quite a lot of sales here and there but it will take me a very long time to reach payout due to sales being tiny piddling amounts. When are we going to get decent money for our microstock ?
