Try to upload some unaltered pictures to your agencies and check which one accept or reject them. So you can now balance if it's worth your effort to remove the numbers

Indeed. We are not talking about newsworthy stuff just non released people and property. Also trademarks. That sells a lot in SS...

SS has been a bit sad sack of late and February was about on par (as in $6 more) with July 2011 - i.e. peak summer doldrums - one month after I returned from iStock exclusivity.

Even February 2012 beat February 2019 - along with all the other Februarys in between, some by a couple of hundred dollars.

I just received their (newly formatted) notice of payout email. They have the chutzpah to put in the headline "Great news!" - large and in bold!!

I beg to differ :)
At least it is not "exciting news" xD

Hello, anyone knows if it is possible to upload videos for editorial use in Adobe Stock?
As far as I know, no

Hello. I use the Microstockr Android App freely. But a while ago it doesn't let me connect to iStock. It is not problematic since iS is refreshed every month and I use todayis20 for that. But I was considering to pay the Pro desktop software. Does it have iS without any problem? Besides that, what is your best tracker? I checked out StockPerformer as well but it's kind of expensive for me since I am not a professional. Microstockr sometimes has bargains for 3 usd per month which I find cheap and the software is kind of beautiful so I might want to try it. But it's a must for me that it has no problem with iS since it's one of my top earners. Thanks

If this agency doesn't sell a picture for more than 3 usd from time to time, it's a waste of time... They also reject a lot with stupid reasons. I uploaded a bunch of science pics that were accepted in iS (without property problems, even if somehow you can see my lab) and in SS but in BS all rejected for intellectual property! Idek why, maybe because of the label of a chemical bottle... Total waste of time.

Alex, amazing article. I loved your pictures. I saw that some of the low earners are not worth the time. What are your thoughts on Bigstock? Have you ever had sales on Picfair? How many pictures you have there compared with AS or SS for example? Thanks a lot.

It seems like something legal happened, not a financial problem...

Like their boss stealing user information from Fotolia before leaving?

I was invited by email, and they used an email address that I only use for stock and never published. So I can only guess that's what they did.
Yes I read the messages about that. Weird, anyway.

General Stock Discussion / Re: EyeEm
« on: February 28, 2019, 09:12 »
Every other site I can upload the metadata from the JPG for Eyeem I have to enter each word individually. I can't even copy and paste a block of text. Or have I missed something?

Yes - it's a bit of a drag to fill in the keywords one by one. And they also have AS and Alamy as partners. And AS don't accept duplicates so it's difficult. Do the parteners notice you if they have your images on their sites ..?

Isn't that shooting yourself in the foot if you upload to Alamy and AS as well as Eyeem? If two identical images are accepted, you'll surely get less commission from Eyeem as you'll get the distributor price vs standard royalties on AS and AL.
Since they mess up the metadata via EyeEm, the picture can appear in different type of searches...

Thanks for the input, I will put more time into filling in more specific descriptions and keywords for coming uploads.

Does anyone know if changing the description for old images will have a big impact on the search results?
I think so.

And thanks about the Adobe insight. I actually put complete descriptions in Adobe so luckily I don't have to change everything

EyeEm sell images in Getty for partner program. I sold image in that Getty partner program and I got from that sale only 1 dollar. Gettys cheapest license is 40 in euros. Why Im get only 1 dollar. This is so annoying.

Getty's prices are many and varied - what you see on the web site is "list" price and doesn't mean much.

I have files that have sold, EyeEm via Getty partner program, for royalties from $1.50, $2.00, $13.13, $15.63 to $57.49. There have only been a couple over $50; most have been at the lower end. I'd consider uploading more, but (a) metadata handling is useless and (b) Getty destroys careful keywording and removes most of the useful location information. All the sales I've had have been via the Getty partnership.
Indeed. Uploading more is good but really it doesn't matter what you put, because metadata is fully made by Getty.

It seems like we all have our capsules and pills hahah

It could be lots of old people taking pills in ads? That could be driving it?
Theres regularly articles all over the media about medication so its a great subject..what is often puzzling is how one image "takes off" while others that appear similar quality  sit unsold...thats where Search Algorithms come into play I guess...success breeding success.
Yes, the keywords and the concept behind the picture... Gonna play more with that

I'd agree. I think people need to think back to when they started. Ideas and what can I find that I have. This is an easy concept, we all have some around the house, and they are possibly a good seller. Kind of like sliced vegetables...
One of my best sellers is a bunch of cassava, which are kind of not usual in the US

Recent (Feb 18) interview with Stephanie Sitt...

Dear JoAnn I think you could be really good Company stock manager instead of stock producer, you're always deeply informed about the market :-)
She's always up to date and express the ideas clearly. Nice to hear from her. About the topic, what a shame. They are now a bigger company but like a zombie...

Does anybody else have this sudden bumps in "Content statistics / The number of times an asset has been added to a board on Getty Images or iStock by a registered user + Views"? Usually numbers go up and down a little bit but it happened now twice for me, that numbers went up significaly over night. Once it happened at the end of December or beginning of January, can't remember exactly when, and once a few days ago.
For me it's almost the same all the time, varying from X pictures to another ones

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Is megapixel important for stock stills?l
« on: February 23, 2019, 16:35 »
Interesting. I normally use 12mpx but I guess more than 24mpx is just exaggeration.

About this, I have had some rejected photos (specially in Adobe) and you are saying it would be a good idea to reduce the megapixels in order to reduce imperfections and avoid technical difficulties. How do you that in Lightroom? I would like to give it a try. For example reducing from 12 to 8 mpx in order to enhance quality.

Thank you.

In the Export window you have a Resize section. Or you can do it in Photoshop - Image - Resize - Best for reduction option.
Thanks
