They don't because quality of the gallery would suffer Part of this success is the simple fact that those contributors who are $10k + submitters provide good images that the buyers want.
You're agreeing with me and saying no. LOL I don't know how to refute that. I'm saying if two images sell and one's from a guy who started today and one is from me, mine cost Shutterstock 56% more to pay out. The fact that buyers tend to buy my images over the other is what I meant by the gallery would suffer if they removed the $10k people.

These suggestions/ideas make me think you don't understand the economics of microstock. Shutterstock would be far better off getting rid of everyone who's made $500 or more and keeping all the new photographers who just started. They don't because quality of the gallery would suffer but they make a lot more money on a new photographers sales then they do mine or someone else who's crossed $10k.

You can only import 25 a day so uploading more is sorta silly. I uploaded 2000 at once and have been pushing & pushing to get them done but you can only do so much.
I would strongly suggest sticking to 10-20 a day everyday and just be faithful about it. You'll get it built up long before they have real sales.

They are all trying to be the most profitable, best businesses they can. If it works, they succeed. If not, they fail. Nobody is too big to fail in this economy. Who knows what will replace them. Think of Circuit City...

I asked about the (Ingram) licensing deal and was not even replied to to say "we can't add you" or anything. I'll promote Yay to my readers and twit followers when Yay promotes my work to the buyers who actually buy things, like Ingram. I know people are making decent money at Yay on that program, I just don't happen to be one of them.
On a side note, I promote GraphicLeftovers because I make $3+ a sale, no categories, and they're easy to work with.

how long did you take to reach this degree? It's a loaded question since I didn't start microstock for real until March 2008 so ... say 3 years of part-time work. I joined Shutterstock *long* before that, though...but had under 150 images online for the first bit. My usernumber is #137. LOL So if you factor in my entire time there, a VERY long time... but really about 3 yrs.

I haven't had any problems uploading releases before but maybe something stuck in the script cache? Try clearing and going again?

BTW there are many contributors who signed up with us but never uploaded a single file. I know people are busy and I am not going to rush them. But if they still haven't uploaded after several weeks, we will probably assume they had a change of heart, and fill their spots with other contributors and move on. I'm one of those. I am going away tomorrow for a week in South Carolina to shoot a wedding though. I'll try and get some up before I go but don't axemurder me!

How hard is it to submit and get rolling? I'd play. I don't know if I'm a high level contributor but I have 4k images I could add.

What if they just want to educate us and then could claim educational fair use?

Now if I could just figure out where my vector brain and heart are at LOL (and no definitely not in my vector body Tineye your heart. I just tried to reply to this but my post closed. There are over 20 results for the heart. Didn't even check the brain yet. You have a lot of tears online. You just need to use the Tineye plugin and maybe not the Tineye uploader. You have *tons* now. Here's one from Equifax: http://tax.equifax.com/2010/11/tax-schemes-and-tax-turkeys-stay-away.html
