Four minute average review time now for me. I do not think the reviewers are rejecting only on technical and what looks "normal" to them. Hence, when I submitted an isolated hat made in a style that hasn't been en vogue for 200+ years, they rejected it. But when I submitted a version with the hat on top of a human head a minute later, they accepted it. Obviously the reviewer had no idea it was a hat and didn't bother to read the description.  :o

I would like notifications in Swedish, as I am currently studying the language.  ;D

iStockPhoto.com / Re: istock worth uploading?
« on: September 06, 2016, 03:19 »
If you don't try, you will never know. I earn enough for monthly payouts, so I keep going. However, I do feel they think we are like feudal era serfs.

Hi I started uploading my pics to Istock and then saw quite a lot of people were leaving and complaining about them.

I don't quite understand what the problem is with them - and before I upload more would like to get a bit more info.

I've had my images on SS and FT for ages and don't really have major probs with them.

It would be great to have IS as another income source but I'm a bit reticient about uploading without being more sure about image rights and pay, etc

Thanks
:)

I'm using 10.6.8. But haven't had this problem.

Weird. I'm wondering if I need to upgrade to the latest DeepMeta.

I upgraded. No change. Same error.

Through deepmeta, I'm getting "invalid response from istock: empty (invalid username/password).

Is that the same error you're getting?

I was very disappointed to find that only 1,785 images showed up when I searched the keyword "Marijuana"  :P ;D

Me too. 6000 down to 99.  ???

Glad it's not just me. OUt of 6,000+ I only see 99 in my portfolio.  :o

Someone at SS HQ must be eating too much free pizza and fell asleep on their treadmill. Their head it the delete button on our portfolios.

I get sporadic sales here, but I like it (as an illustrator). Thank you for reaching out to us here. Good luck. Best success for all of us!

Pond5 / Re: P5 has new CEO Jason Teichman (ex COO of Web.com)
« on: August 09, 2016, 19:07 »
Web.com has a decent web hosting service (NetworkSolutions)., But my experience with their web marketing service was a big waste of money.

https://techcrunch.com/2016/08/09/stock-photo-marketplace-pond5-brings-on-a-new-ceo-ex-web-com-coo-jason-teichman/

"But the CEO declined to disclose any sales data."

Interesting facts:

Jason (41, 3 kids) holded more-less every single title in his career - used to be COO, CMO, SVP, VP, General Manager, Director... He spent 8 years with American Express and 6 years at http://www.web.com/

No experience with stock media, as per his LinkedIn profile.

And in June 2016 he sold 30K of shares at web.com - http://www.franklinindependent.com/web-com-group-inc-nasdaqwebs-insider-jason-teichman-unloaded-30000-shares/

Ex CEO Ryan Scott who served for 1 year only left P5.

When it comes to a person bringing up this subject for the #th time, at least offer some encouragement. Look at the glass half-full. It can only lead to some bit of progress. Refer them to the link of previous discussion (as some have done). But don't try to shut them down. We're all on the same team. United we are strong. Divided, we are weak.

Did anyone see the new contributor dashboard: http://www.123rf.com/contributor/index.php
Clean design, like it!

I'm not sure what they mean by 'Top downloads'.
It would be useful if it shows unpaid $ amount as well.

Wowsah! What a nice improvement! Hoping they don't cut our royalties because of it.  :-[

On July 19, 2016, Craig Felenstein notified Shutterstock, Inc. (the "Company") of his intention to resign from his position as Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Strategic Finance, effective August 19, 2016, in order to accept a Chief Financial Officer position with another public company.

As in Shutterstock SEC Filing IRS

Does this mean something?

Not enough Pizza Fridays and gym time.  8)

Corporate gobblygoop. NONE of it makes any sense. I had to check this forum to get the truth. A big reason I quit working for others. Yeah, self-employed can be stressful. But not as stressful as working in a culture like this. I feel some pity for Getty employees.

43
Obviously some folks at SS HQ have been spending too much time in the fitness room and eating free pizza.  :o

Hi all,

Was wondering if it's fine that Shutterstock requires a property release for a picture where the only subject is a close-up of an animal (cow), with no visible signs attributing it to a specific place, property, etc. Obviously, the picture was rejected as no property release was attached (and could never be attached, for that matter). I'm a bit confused, to say least...

Maybe the cow is wearing a tattoo  ;D.

I say just resubmit it.

46
Yeah, I've got less than 60 clips! I'm working on it though  :D

Oh, then you should feel happy. You're doing great in my opinion!  ;D

47
Not much! I mean, yeah, there's a definite upward trend which is great, but it's very intermittent compared to everyone else!

Hmmm...My portfolio size is over 6,100. That could make a difference in daily sales. I think the others have more as well.  :o

48
Lol!  :-[

Put up May to May. Maybe better??!  :o

49
No, I have the opposite of your.

Same here. See attached. I only add 2-3 photos per week (if any)

What's interesting with the graphs on display here and other posts is, if you cut off the tops of the peaks they fill the troughs and you get a steady average. A simple pointer would be, a very large peak is often followed by successive drops until a balance is established (the average of the highs and lows match the overall average over a larger period of time). I think it's part and parcel of their ranking system.

If you create a rolling 30, 60 & 90 day average it irons out the larger swings and you can see the overall trend from a smoother line. A rolling 7 day average is also a useful stat to track. The 60 & 90 day trackers + the 7 day one allowed me to forecast my earnings for the coming week..... was 94% accurate. The joys of being an ex-city analyst :-)

Thanks! So do you think I'm doing pretty good then?  8)

mine is much more sporadic than yours with a slight trend towards growth rather than decline.

i always keep a batch ready to submit while there is a batch in review so there is a constant flow of new stuff into my port even when I am too busy to be shooting new stuff at certain times of the year.

Indeed. Same here. I cut back from 60 submissions a week to about 10 so I could focus on a separate project deadline. I was thinking that was part of the cause. But it looks like it's just the nature of this wacky microstock business.
