Shutterstock.com / Re: Account name change needed for tax form???
« on: December 23, 2024, 08:18 »
Now this is new!  I've been with Shutterstock since 2006 and submitted lots of tax forms since then.
This time I got an e-mail, telling me I needed to submit a new one, so I went to the website and noticed that the pre-filled name was not my usual official (legal) name, but my nickname Anneke (which is my contributor name).  But it was not possible to change it on the tax form, so I contacted support, and the only solution to this huge problem is a transfer of my files to a new account name.
WHAT ???
Anyone had a similar experience?  I'm supposed to fill out special forms and send lots of proof etc etc just to do exactly the same as every year, and this while nothing changed in my personal situation ...

You need to request shutterstock for a name transfer and submit the needed documents. You will not require to transfer the files.
Everything remains the same as you are doing ownership transfer.

General Stock Discussion / Inflation and microstock?
« on: December 10, 2024, 11:15 »
The microstock industry is seeing a lot of competition with steep downfall in the royalty and the other hand inflation is on surge.
How do you all see this and is the microstock future diminishing?
Do the agencies keeping 80-90% cut of our earning fair?

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock sales better than Adobe
« on: December 01, 2024, 21:11 »
Past many years shutterstock has always been down compared to adobe.
SS used to be an amazing company or I can say the best microstock agency for me but their management became greedy and ruined everything.

I have created an email long years back in I guess year 2008 with ID say [email protected]
and some person has created a new email named [email protected] and now I am getting his emails on my gmail account.

I googled and found that gmail system ignores [.] in email ids and all emails having . will land to one email.

so hello.world - h.elloworld - hell.oworld etc will go to helloworld

my main concern is since I am receiving other person email on my gmail ID can this go vice-versa too?
like if someone sends an email to me at helloworld , can the other person with ID hello.world see my emails too?

How can we differentiate between normal sale vs sales from stock generations?

I guess if I complain to Adobe, they will say that there is no proof that they are using my image as source, it is AI... (?!)

I did complaint with one agency and they reviewed the case and banned the author who uploaded very similar work to mine.
But the point is, I don't have so much time to hunt for such culprits. Agencies needs to take action and make their terms and conditions stronger.

AI is ruining the market for both buyer and seller.

32
Recently, I came across many contributors which have used my work in generating similar AI-generated images.

Creating and maintaining original works takes time and with such AI tools creating replicas is super easy.
This is serious copyright infringement and the companies needs to look into this.

Companies should keep the original work and AI generate work as a separate two categories.

I feel sad to see this.  :(

Second deactivation of the account a week after its recovery

Greetings! This is my first post on this forum. I've decided to write about my situation after reading all topics on here and finding no information on such quick repeat deactivation of the account because of the "suspicious activity".

I've been an Adobe Stock author for over seven years. I only upload photos of animals (I am an animal photographer from Ukraine), mostly photos of dogs and cats. On August 23rd I've failed to log into my author account and saw a notice of its deactivation. I immediately contacted support through the "Contact us" link and later submitted an appeal as well. Also, I've started to search for information on the Internet and found out that it's possible to contact Matt (he didn't answer).

I've waited a whole month for an answer and, finally, on September 27th I received a letter saying that my account is active again and that it was previously blocked due to suspicious activity (obviously, I haven't done anything like that). However, a week before the deactivation someone bought from me lots of photos amounting to $169 in just one day, which was, indeed, weird, because I've never experienced something like this.

Delighted, I've submitted new photos for review, and requested a payout (the last payment that was shut down during the deactivation. The sum was around $300. Those peculiar $169 were still on my Adobe account).

Then, on October 4th, just when I should've received the payout, I received a notice of deactivation due to suspicious activity once again. Again, i didn't do anything. I've just submitted new photos for review and requested to receive the pre-deactivation money. A week before the deactivation I've only sold $27-worth of photos, which is a standard sum for my account.

What happens next? Will I wait for a month again just for my account to be deactivated while trying to withdraw money? Matt didn't answer my previous letters, therefore, I'm not sure if I should be writing him again.
Another deactivation just added insult to injury. I am quite sure that I didn't break any rules, I've been working with Adobe Stock for seven years and never had any issues before.

Moreover, Adobe buys my photos every year for their collections.

Has anyone's account been deactivated this fast before? If so - do you have any thoughts on what might be the issue here?

kindda scary... the appeal process should be fair and fast. Adobe needs to rethink of their policies.

Adobe Stock does not accept ZIP-files (containing EPS and JPG) anymore. Instead EPS-files only should be uploaded. Is there a way to embed title and keywords in the EPS? I keyworded in Illustrator, but Adobe Stock apparently is not able to read them out.  >:(

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

use bridge to keyword in eps

I am glad that in this complex microstock industry, there is someone who got an increase pay.  :)
Good wishes for your new position.

Isn't the right way is to reverse all the fraud credit card sales instead of banning the author?

1/10 of the amount I got last year..

But...... wait... doesn't shutterstock NOT "accept" ai content? If they don't... then... why do they have an "ai" filter?

Its shady shady... shady business.

Shutterstock.com / Re: 80% Single and others?
« on: August 22, 2024, 10:31 »
I am seeing this trend that I downloads on single and others are lot more than their subscription, almost covering 80% section.
What does your stats say?

I would say about 90% in my case. It has drastically decreased month by month for the last year. I think people just do not continue their subscriptions. My wife works in a big company that always had a subscription to Shutterstock, but about a month ago they just canceled it.

Would of been interesting to hear the company's reason. As a large customer (and probably one among a number of organisations to not renew their subscription) they were probably downloading hundreds to thousands of contents each month. Shutterstock shooting itself in the foot again... well both feet actually, one foot being the contributor and the other foot being the customer.

They have lost their position since Oringer moved (or removed) himself from CEO position.
The new management doesn't seems to have a good management skills. They neither want to think for contributors nor customers.

Its a ship with a hole and needs a immediate fix.

for photos it was very low, like 10ish percent.

10% isn't very feasible to work with.
And for vectors?

4- Follow and share portfolio button portfolio.

5- Increase 100 pages limit for portfolio

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe has blocked my account
« on: August 07, 2024, 08:13 »
Hi, I just got an email that my account will be unblocked.

The cause was "highly irregular sales activity", as I suspected. A buyer bought ~50 photos from my portfolio, all of the same topic. He even contacted me directly to ask if I have more.
This is the reason why I have been blocked for weeks now. How can I defend myself against such situations?

Oh, needless to say, of course I dont get to keep the money for the sales...."We have now deducted the irregularly earned credits from your account".

Ridiculous.

I am happy to see you got your account back.

I still wonder, who's going compensate for the losses he faced in the down-time?
It is hard to see a happy moment of good downloads changed to a moment of fear... when you did nothing wrong.

Is this safe and legitimate?
What is your privacy policy and terms and conditions?

Just curious to know how you find out if your work has been stolen by another Shutterstock contributor? Do you just right click the photo and search for the image on Google - or do you use another method?

Shutterstock have a Similar images option when you open any image.. you can then see some in same page or click see all to see more in same style or series.

i use Adobe Bridge to add keywords to eps files

I add my keywords and title in the EPS file.

What software? Mine doesn't do that. I mean, I can't attach keywords and title/descriptions to EPS files. I have to cut and paste for each image, which is a long process.

Thanks both, I don't use bridge and if I did, I'd still need to copy and paste the keywords from the JPG to the EPS, so I might as well, copy them from the JPG to Adobe, when I upload. Maybe I should learn bridge?  :)

I also use bridge and its a great tool.

there is no interest in this, and I think this has been clear for several years.

the fact that we need to report copyright infringement is already wrong,it is the agencies that should deal with it,not us.

I can agree on that, why should WE report it. Agencies are taking big cut on every image we sell and then they are doing nothing to keep the contributors safe.
I totally find shutterstock liable for such infringements. Its their platform and they need to make your boundaries strong to protect the IPs of real artists.
