You're right Sue, I missread that line on SS.

@wordplanet
The image is not on FAA.  The shop where the canvases are sold is an 'outlet store'.

Yes I was planning on making some pictures first. Unfortunately there is no label on it. If anything surprising comes out of contacting them I'll post it here. Thanks again

Thanks for your reply Sue. So it seems impossible to find out what kind of deal they had and even if an EL was needed. I'm tempted to contact the shop and ask them where they got it from,

General Stock Discussion / Photo being sold on canvas in shop
« on: November 09, 2015, 07:13 »
Hi all,

I just found out a photo of mine is sold on large canvas at a shop for EUR 100, they have a whole bunch of copies of it in stock. There is no EL sale recorded for this image. Can someone confirm an EL is required for this kind of use at all the agency's?

Because for example Shutterstock license says that physical reproductions are allowed under the standard license. Or is canvas considered merchandise?

http://www.shutterstock.com/license-comparison

Also apparently the customer can buy an EL till one year after using it (http://www.shutterstock.com/subscribe?clicksrc=full_thumb). Which would mean I can't do a thing and have to wait at least a year to take action?

Any help is appreciated as I am not sure how to take the right steps in this matter.

Frans

Addition to be clear: It's a phyiscal shop in my city and when I was there I saw about 15 copies.

Hi all,

I just logged in from my home computer at Dreamstime and it connected me to another contributors account! I can see all the personal pages. Anyone else experience the same right now?

Can't update Shutterstock in Microstock Analytics anymore. The program can't load the Captcha.  Anyone else got the same problem?

Mostphotos.com / Paypal fee for Mostphotos payout
« on: January 29, 2015, 08:20 »
Anyone else have to pay a fee at Paypal when they request a payout at Mostphotos? Never had to pay that at other agency's.

One more thing regarding where do we accept images from:

Other than the Arabic and Middle eastern culture wherever it might be represented, through people or architecture...

Here are the list of countries that we consider within our niche:
Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Somalia, Comoros, Djibouti in addition to Iran and Turkey.

Cheers
Charbel

Israel/Jerusalem included?

Dreamstime.com / Re: Have DT sales slumped?
« on: June 30, 2014, 06:10 »
A whole month of 1-3 subsales a day. For me the worst month since august 2010.  Back then a small portfolio of a couple 100 images and a contributor for 6 month. On average DT is 8% of my income. This month it's 2%.

42
Cool, but I can't access the contributor's page/dashboard. Someone with the same problem?

Same here.

43
Well I've made up my mind and will disable all files as soon as I reach payout. Won't wait for a D-Day or something. I didn't even know about that ShotShop deal. Always thought DepositPhotos had great potential for the future but now I see the only way they might make it to the Top Tier is by scamming the artists and thereby damaging the whole industry.

44
No, the answers read like they saw the word 'subscription' and a number, so said yes and put a link to an FAQ.

Don't think you're right. Even so, 90% of my sales at DP are subs netting me 31 cents. The other 10% are credit sales. Which means we make the same money on both subscription packs.

45
Veer is a low earner with few sales but they do have the occasional EL. Because of that they give me the highest RPD after Alamy.

46
I'm surprised no one found out about this earlier. No contributor would agree with a 3% commission. Though I must admit I've never looked at their subscription plans. Have they recently changed this?

I will await a reply from Deposit and if this will not change I'll deactivate all my images.

More then a year ago Ihad all my images from Depositphotos removed from there. Still now and then I get messages that someone added me as a friend. But when I go check I can't even find myself on that website.

I am going towards a BME in downloads and maybe even a 3rd BME In a row. Whatever they changed, its like nitro in my port.

Also the downfall people reporting are not from the same months

You talk about 2 years ago, some say last year, some say this year May

I thought I had hit the wall up until 2.5 months ago when my port started to take off again. I am with SS for 18 months.

I'm not saying there is a downfall at SS at all. My BME last July and I'm with them since 2009. The only thing I noticed lately (and saw others report too) is that new files sell less while older files (even same subjects) continue selling. Maybe this is not a problem at all but it used to be important with SS that new files sell in order not to get buried.
Perhaps I oversee something that makes it look like new files don't sell (like port growth compared to new files).

Anyway, I increased my port in August with 6,3% to 1600 files.
Since then 5,2% of my SS-income are from those files.

There was a change about 2 years ago. Before that it was all about feeding the beast. That seems to be over. They had about 15 million images back then. Now it looks like they've changed something in the search again. For example they seem to have switched the results in Popular and Relevant.

As we all can agree old files keep selling and new ones don't.

Huh? I wouldn't agree with that at all. New images, if they're good ones, are selling very well indeed as far as I'm concerned.

"It's not the arrows, it's the Indian" as they say.

Most people report new images don't sell as much as they used to while older ones keep selling. My experience is that if the image is good it will eventually take-off but not in the first days (week) like before.
