I had a look at the links in the email. They were general links to the "forgot password" page on iStock. I did have to change my password, because my old one would not no longer work.

This is what happens when you set up a forum about your own job. People will complain about it!

54 cents yesturday. 3-ish dollars in total. after around 6 months.

From all the new stuff they've been trying to do during these past few months, it would probably be better to hold off. But by then, the royalty rates may be cut again.

32
Is there any good budget camera which shoots 4k in slow motion? Maybe 90-250 fps should do.

I doubt there's any. Even the upcoming GH5 only shoots 60 fps at 4k, an achievement in itself.

33
Since I can't actually shoot 1080p on my D610, I've been using my smartphone for 4k. Works pretty well in decent light, as long as you keep it steady or use a gimbal. The new G85/G80, however, may have better value for the money compared to the G7, as it has in-body stabilization.

You could say that dissolve is dissolving...

I would say that you should change your image descriptions. Rather than "naming" an image, try to describe what exactly is in it.

Your video gallery is very impressive! However, I was wondering how you did the dolly shots? Do you use any extra equipment, or just handhold your camera?

I guess you answered your own question... Those shots are made using a slider or a small dolly.

Even the ones made outdoors and stuff?

Thank you. Which ones?

The one at the supermarket, for instance

That's supermarket trolley :)

A very creative solution indeed!

Irina, isn't editing videos for microstock very difficult? So far I have only taken photos. I think that's better at the beginning. However I am uploading to microstock for nearly a year now and slowly would like to start taking vides as well.

It isn't difficult, there is a lot of free and simple software to edit. You can start making videos with minimum adjustments like some cutting in the beginning or in the ending of the original clip. Just make sure setting white balance about correct while shooting. In fact you can just make videos when you are making photos with the same camera.l

The design of the car itself is copyright, especially cars with visible logos. I also think that they won't accept pictures with visible license plates.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Setting minimum payout or $35?
« on: October 27, 2016, 02:40 »
PP fees are not the same for every country. For me it's $2.50 or 2.00/withdraw, no matter the amount. I've set a higher minimum because I don't want to pay for each $35 - $50 portion.

In case that you have your PP fees in %, the amount doesn't matter.

It seems like there is a some kind of fee for paypal, despite it saying otherwise in my email. Looking at my last payout, there was a 2.83% difference from the payout and actual deposit in my paypal account. I have not found any documentation in shutterstock saying how much their fees are. I cannot say for sure if this percentage is valid for all payouts, as I have had only one payout. But, as long as paypal does not have any extra fees PER deposit, then I guess you are right in saying that the amount doesn't matter.

Do you guys keep the minimum payout at $35, or do you set your own minimum payout? Is there an advantage to this, such as less fees from paypal?

I always wait about 2-3 weeks for images, then tell them on live chat. After that, it takes 2-3 days.

Seems like Sony just came out with the A6500, which is $400 more expensive, but has OIS. I would wait out on the A6300 though, as there might be a price cut.

Marijuana infused tomato stock. Can't see there being many of those. Like a stock image of somebody making soup, on a rustic counter top, the fresh ingredients to the side of the pan... tomatoes, seasoning, veg, a big bag of weed. I can see it now.

Stock of tomato and weed stock on shutterstock. Genius!

Not sure about 3D illustrations, but my acceptance percentage for images is literally 100% these past two months.

I dont get rejections unless I screwed up and glad they noticed. Fixed and good. Got 2 landscapes rejected saying they need a reference Image??? what!! and sales were great in aug. Nose dive this Month. Losing Interest very quickly.

lauren, you're back??? i can't believe it???
i thought things got better with you and you became a reborn fan-boy of ss all over again LOL

glad to see even you are not immuned from the great SSBS in the sky!!!
(suffering is half the suffering when shared !!!)

LOL call them as I see them. What I seriously don't get is instant reviews, sometimes a few minutes. That to me is a red flag that there is  a BOT reviewing. which if true is the saddest thing I've yet heard. we thought about this before But instant reviews and the numbers being added??

Always wondered how bots would review things like "out of focus" or "poor exposure." Do they just compare the histogram to an "ideal" one, and use some kind of contast detection? Most of the reviews take half a day or more, but sometimes they get reviewed after fifteen minutes, and it may or may not be accepted.

Wrote around 3. Did get 1 or 2 more views for the images I put in. Probably won't help much with sales though, as the only people reading these blogs are the other contributors.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Monitor Color?

I'm pretty sure the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB is negligible for 99.9% of all photographic applications, especially more so for microstock photography.

It was more than $35, yes. I have not gotten anything in paypal yet though. Is this process automatic?
